Caught your videos recently. Really enjoy them and the Dora build was truly awesome. I also love the fact you go into the history. Just makes it...more meaningful. I just started the hobby myself and appreciate you sharing. Learning alot. Anyway, I like your style, and looking forward to your next build. Cheers!
Hope to see you building soon. O enjoyed the last build very much hope your back gets feeling better. Will be waiting for the next build what ever you decide to build. Happy modeling.
hi Gary hope all is well with you and family. Will you be back on here soon Gary,i do enjoy watching you very much and can`t wait to see your next build.
Good to see you back Gary. Condolences to you and your family. I have been building the Benjamin W. Latham and it is almost identical to the Bluenose. Your videos sure helped a lot. Take care
Hoping your feeling a bit better now. Have periodic back pain (like now) myself. Indeed, my last working trip abroad before retiring - had to come back in a wheelchair from Tunisia because of a sudden attack of chronic sciatica in my back and left leg. Fortunately, my Arab colleagues, Tunisia Air and Tunis Airport staff were great. Like my old aunt used to say….you gotta be tough to grow old. All the best from the UK to you and your family.
Wow!!! Not sure how to comment on all you have been through! Other than my heart goes out to you and your family! Hang in there buddy! You are right building is a form of therapy! Now I am honored and humbled to have such support coming from You! Thank you and I hope in time I can become half as talented as you and pay it forward to someone wanting to learn a very rewarding hobby. I saw your daughter-in-law channel and you are right she is very talented. I W check her out on her web site.
Good to see you still around..... Back pain is terrible, I'm a musician an Back pain is pretty much in that included. I know once it was so bad could not walk , but had to go on all four to even reach the Bathroom. I really hope you gettin better soon.. God bless you
Good to hear from you sir. I hope you are feeling stronger and more hopeful after your losses. Your Dora build was epic. Looking forward to future projects. All the best.
Hope you are still hanging in there mate. I have also been suffering a very bad back for the last few months. Fortunately, our National Health Service is very good. Been going to Physio sessions recently and they traced the problem to my feet strangely enough. Apparently, I have walked slightly skewwhiff on one side of each foot for years which over time has caused muscle problems in my thigh, hips and lower back! Wish I'd known that before I spent a fortune on a new computer chair and mattress....lol
Symphaty is free and makes as human, nice to see you, you take time what you need in your life and when is time to modeling i be watchin yout updates and learn.
No problem here. I went through the loss of family on all sides. Plus health issues, plus everything you mentioned. Take your time , and I will enjoy whatever you choose to do. Regards, Solomon
Glad to see you are still alive and kicking Gary. Been watching for your next video but now I can see why. I used to be a heavy equipment operator and ran a dozer off a cliff, needless to say I messed my back up and I can sympathize with anyone that has back pain. Hope your doctor can find what is wrong with you and you dont have to live the way I have been. Best wishes to you and yours and standing by to see this 4 foot behemoth you are talking about. Sounds awesome!
My deepest condolences for your losses Gary. I hope you can cope and go on and I wish you better health as well. As the others following have already said you were missed.
Hi Gary I’m so sorry to hear of your losses many condolences. Boy I’ve missed to on RU-vid that said great to see you can’t wait to see what you’ve got in store for us. Look forward to the next video with baited breath take care. Your top fan Carm
Good to see you again Gary. Sorry for your losses, I know what you mean about looking around.. I lost three friends recently!! Look forward to your new build..
Hi Gary! So sorry for all the troubles!! None of us are getting out of this alive but the timing of it always sucks. Like you I've had back trouble half my life, 35 years. I agree about the surgery, success rate is too damn low and I've seen people come out worse than when they started. Best luck I have said is PT and being strict about doing the exercises they give me. It's kept things so I can manage it. Not a cure but a big improvement! And don't bend over like that to pick up the pooch! Now, a 4 foot long wooden model, oh man, I'm starting to drool already. Can't wait to see! And of course curious about what your "other hobby" is. Prayers going up. Rick D
So sorry but glad to hear you are in a way OK. I know about losing a younger sister as I did also and it really hurt. I am 75 and have back problems so take care of yourself. Do what you can when you can. I build model period ships and to tell you the truth I do take my time and if I get done or not so what. I just love having the time and the ability to do it. God bless you
Sorry for your loss and your troubles. We miss you but life comes first. I hope you eventually start another project but if you don't the things you have already built have added so much to the community.
9 years ago I herniated my L4-L5 disk (belt level), it caused sciatica down the right leg all the way to the toe. It also caused my gluteus maximus to go into a crap that wouldn't stop. Over the next two years I tried back adjustments, massage, inversion therapy, etc, but after the two years of it getting worse, I couldn't move. High power pain killers and muscle relaxants allowed me to move around a tiny bit. There was a couple of months wait for surgery, I hobbled into the hospital bent over a cane like Yoda, woke up in recover and got dressed (without bracing myself against a wall and using the handle of the cane to pull on my underwear and pants) and walked out like a human being. It was micro surgery, but due to a lack of extra skin at the small of the back, they had to make a 6" cut in the skin. Two days after the surgery, and being so feed up having spent almost all of the last 6 months in bed, I was out shovelling snow. If surgery is needed, get it, don't be afraid, the difference it makes is instant.
Hi Gary,i did mis you what a story the only thing i can say is keep strong buddy. I really hope 2018 is a better year for you and your family. If you are so lucky to get old than you get a lot of things for free you did not ask for. The last couple of months we spend more time in a hospital then all the years before. I surely hope that you start modeling again soon . Gary all the best from the Netherlands.
Issuing a stop payment on the check first thing Monday morning. :-) Large thanks for the links and update...even if it's mostly not so good news. Too bad you're not near a cannabis 'legal' state. Lots of rumors floating around about the quality 'wacky tabaccie' that cures a lot of what ails ya. I can't handle any sort of smoke in the lungs, so am unable to vouch for anything first-hand. Lots of videos on u-tube about the subject though - seems to be one of the things they _don't_ censor. On the other hand, there's the problem of the federalies to contend with. At any rate, continue doing what you gotta do and may time help in your healing. It was good to hear from you. --- All the Best...
Thanks so so much for the shoutout, Gary. It means a lot :) I love you guys, and hope things start looking up for you soon. I'm sorry you're hurting and hope the issue with your back gets resolved soon. I'm glad to see you back and I look forward to seeing your future videos. Great work, as always! Give Shirl and Molly a hug from me. Miss you guys, and you all are in my thoughts.

Gary, I can sympathize and I know you will be getting tons of suggestions from all sorts of experts and I can only say I'm sorry to add to your misery. I am eighty years old, with a twenty four year US Army career and being the oldest of eight kids that grew up when times were tough in the mountains of PA, I have lost all my siblings except one, and two recently. My dad held on for ninety six years and we lost him a couple years ago so I know where you are coming from. My post retirement has been wooden ships and I may have an idea where you are headed and I would just like to give you a heads up on your selection. You probably have done your research but I would suggest you be a little more definite because there are liable to be hints pertaining to your selection that have been encountered by other modelers that may help you make up your mind with your selection. I know this would have been helpful to me if I had known some things about the USS Constitution model by Model Expo. I also have some major back and leg pain. I have spinal stenosis and sciatica that kills me to move and my only comfort can be found in my recliner. I was a military parachutist and then competed in para-sports until I was fifty five so I have no one to blame but myself. Pain management sessions are a regular affaIr with needles in the back. I think I know your other hobby and I was once involved my self and still have boxes stashed away. There was a loss of interest so I moved to coins and that really is expensive so we jog along the same trails. Things just don't seem to get any better. Where are those golden years?
I'm right here......Recuperateing from major back and leg pain. Cannot go up and down to the basement so I don't know what the future holds. Have had two epidural shots in my back hoping to avoid any kind of surgery.
Good to hear you still around...back pain is really bad,I understand where you come from..I hope you will get better soon gary..just miss your video that is all..take care,God bless you..
