Also similiar to sony wanting to take down ps3 and vita store. I bet not many people at all were shopping on ps3 and vita store. They decided to close it then everyone complained about it. Now it's staying.
I already have one. I've always loved the Wii U. The best part is: the Virtual Console has so many fantastic games and it plays Wii games with Wiimotes.
The Wiiu is going to be extremely collectable as years go by. It's a Nintendo product, and compared to other Nintendo consoles it hardly sold at all so once the availability dries up it'll be very hard to aquire games and systems. I foreseen this and spent hundreds on building a sealed collection when supermarkets and gaming stores were selling them dirt cheap to clear stock.
@@MediCali951 I did! I've kept an eye out the last couple years for any new game announcements and I jump on them as soon as possible. I did the same thing when Axiom Verge was released on the system.
We're about 5 years from a Wii craze, and about 10 years from a gamecube scale Wii U crazy in my opinion. You just wait until the compounding effect of each collector generation and then the kids who grew up with them to hit their 20s. I think the biggest system long term will likely be the Wii U or Switch.
Great video! I wrapped up the WiiU Collection in 2019 and it is such a blast to collect for, I am thinking about making a response video to add to this great info. Keep on Gaming....off the grid!
Hell ya! Well done on that collection. You finished it off at a good time. There were a ton of good deals in '18 &'19 at Target, Game Stop etc. Very cool that you got it done. Cheers!
As soon as the Switch was announced, I started buying up Wii U stuff. I have an almost complete collection now (missing a few random controller bundles and the like but have a version of every game to play) and I'm super glad I did. Best time to buy for a console is almost always when the next one comes out. This was the first time I ever got ahead of it. Good stuff, guys!
I agree with all your predictions here. Comparing Wii U collecting to GC collecting... it feels the Wii U market is a bit more intense and coming on earlier. The smaller library with a lot of quality games, the unexplored games, the cardboard big boxes and the relatively low print runs adds to desire-ability.
I've been stocking up on Wii U games for the last 2 years. The best was about a year ago when gamestop had the buy 5 games get 50% off sales and plenty of stock of Wii U games.
The Olympdics LMAO...nice! It's like playing the stock market with some of these games, if you hit it right you can really rake in some money in due time. Great vid as always, cheers broskis!
Definitely! We could be wrong, but to your point, we think this thing is the next "Sega Saturn" in terms of collectability. We really think it's going to get nuts. We still are finding games out in the wild but it's becoming less and less by the day. Thanks for watching. We really appreciate it. Cheers!
@@GamingOffTheGrid Addicted to the channel. You guys helped me focus on collecting the good stuff that I actually want to play instead of having stacks of sports crap laying around! Y’all are awesome!
So awesome! You got it finished off at a good time for sure. We really think the market will pop big time in the coming years. Time will tell. Thanks for watching. Cheers!
Missing 8 (easy to find) titles on my PAL-collection. Have collected some rare wii-U stuff in the past years, but will make a hurry on finishing the complete PAL set too 😅👊🏻 one thing that wonders me is that a lot of titles that were really hard to find are not mentioned here. Maybe because of the difference between Pal and NTSC?
I frickin love my Wii U. My neighbors had one and upgraded to a Switch. I paid $45 and got a White Model (would've liked a Black 32gb but for the price I'm not complaining), and 4 games. I don't own a Switch (I'm a PC gamer mainly), but I can play so many of the games on the Wii U. I've sunk well over 100 hours into BOTW, I play Mario Kart 8 with my brothers all the time, and Smash Wii U is lots of fun too, even as a hardcore Melee fan. The other thing I'd say is that if you're into homebrew/console modding (I can understand if some people aren't comfortable with it tho), the Wii U has so much more potential. You can unlock Gamecube compat, and along with emulators and Virtual Console, you can play EVERY Nintendo generation from the NES up to the Wii U on ONE console. In addition, you can dump your games into an install-able format, and install them to your system's memory (but you'll probably need a USB drive even on a Black model), and you don't even have to put your disks in to play. I own all my games on disk, but I got a tiny 128gb USB Flashdrive (it's like half an inch long), plugged it in the back of the console, and I have all my games installed to it. So I get the physical ownership of having disks with the convenience of digital games. Plus as a PC gamer I can emulate them on my PC and enhance them (although I don't really do that, I prefer to play it on my Wii U). Even if you aren't into homebrew tho, the Wii U offers insane value. So many great games, many of which are now out on the Switch but that you can get for SO much cheaper rn. Plus the price is only going up from here. Best $45 I've ever spent.
This is good to know I just got one for the hd Zelda remasters and felt kind of discouraged because I spent 170$ on it but it it can do all of that I’m actually really hyped I have never tried to mod anything but I think I’m gonna try for this. So many games I’d love to play on it.
Hey the best channel for gaming period! i have a question for you guys. So i collect playstation games ps2 ps3 and ps4 not going for a full set but games im interested in playing rare or not . but id say 20 percent of my collection have no manuals from garage sales and 10 percent are greatest hits . Ita starting to bother me now with my ocd to rebuy them black label with manuals . It never did before . How do u guys feel about games u own without manuals and also games that are greatest hits.?? As collectors yourselves and gamers should i rebuy them ! I try to not get them anymore if manuals arent included.
Well thanks man! Appreciate your kind words. As far as the collecting goes we’ve built our collection on the cheap as well. Of course we’d prefer manuals and not greatest hits but it doesn’t bother us too much. We do swap games out though as we pick up better versions etc. Thanks for reaching out and glad you’re enjoying the vids. Cheers!
Hey Wes and Robert, really enjoying the channel. I'm not sure we're enduring the price hikes here in the U.K. that you guys are suffering across the pond but the Wii U is definitely worth preserving and collecting for. All the best guys.
I saw Devil's Third in the wild a few years ago at my local game store for $32.99, but I bought Color Splash instead. Talk about regrets. I saw you guys walking around the Bloomington-Normal Game Con last Saturday. Find anything cool there?
Mario & Sonic Rio Olympics hit over $100 back in early 2017, it's actually down from where it used to be when it first sold out and the fomo panic hit, but it's slowly climbed back up
Nice video! Yeah, Wii U stuff is getting nuts but luckily my collection is pretty set. Have you noticed Dreamcast is going crazy now? I can't believe what consoles are going for
I couldn’t agree more guys! The prices are definitely shooting up already so get while the getting is good! I’m less than 28 away from a full North American set right now with! Trying to get them all sooner than later! Great vide guys! Love some Wii U!
I have 3 Wii U's because of my kids... I modded them all so my discs have just sat in their cases... Had no idea they all went up that much... Also have a full (complete) Amiibo set... Can't believe how expensive my daughter's Box Boy Amiibo is... Sheeesh...
Excellent video, I agree with you the system is getting higher in price and harder to get every day. I have also been watching the game prices increase at at fast pace. I think this will be like collecting for the Sega Saturn before we know it.
I can’t agree more I’ve been collecting for the Wii U for 2 years now and man it’s starting to get harder but still time to get cheap games for it now.
Totally. I don't recall if we talked about it in this video or another but we believe the best version of Axiom Verge is on the Wii U. Reason being the tablet serves as you map and inventory mgmt without have to pause and bring up the menu like on other versions of the game. We have Sturmfront on the PS4 but we will most like get it on the Wii U as well. Wish it would get a physical copy :). Cheers!
The Wii U is dope. I just imported a Japanese Wii U also just for all of the Taiko No Tatsujin games we never had released here in the States. So I have both my Wii U and Japanese Wii U hooked up right next to each other in my entertainment center. And I have about 50 games so far for my collection.
Wii U baby! Hell yes You guys are spot on. I started collecting for Wii U just about 5 months ago and I’m regretting waiting on a few of these titles. My prediction is when COVID is over (hopefully a couple of months) and it’s summer, people will stop spending so much money on games and prices will pull back a little; just an unsupported prediction I have
I think because of the small number of overall games, around 167 North American releases, the WII-U is a tempting system to try to collect the whole set of games. I know that it's the one and only complete collection I own, and most likely will ever own. I think that's the reason why games like Bass Fishing, Turbo stunt squad, Cabelas, ect. are so expensive. I know those games along with Book of Unwritten Tales 2, How to train your Dragon 2, and the Axiom Verge were the hardest for me to find. Great episode Long live the Wii U!!!
I don't have motivation collecting wii u games since majority of the library is just bad games. I'll be damned if I spend more than $5 on shovelware games. Would you guys do a 3DS or PSVITA version of this since those markets have insanely significantly risen up in value? Like a lot of vita games I'm seeing right now are worth over $80.
Recently subscribed because 1) Games 2) Beer 3) yous guys are entertaining. I saw Wii U and had to check it out. I have a complete NA physical collection because I always wanted to complete a set and the Wii U was easier and cheaper when I decided to finish my collection in 2016. Crazy how fast some of these prices have gone up and many you mentioned I still have sealed from the Target clearance section for $10. Keep up the great work guys!
I sold my Switch Lite last month because I realized I wasn’t using it at all, and since then I’ve pulled out my Wii U and have been playing Mariokart on that instead while also having my favorite Zelda/Mario games all available through virtual console that I don’t need to pay for monthly. I have a GameCube controller adapter for it as well that I use to play with. I’m still much more content with this than I really have been at all with the Switch.
Awesome video!! Your first video on the Wii U about the buying guide is what got me inspired to pick up the console about a month ago and I spent the next few weeks after that going all over the DFW Metro plex grabbing up much of the games as I could find and I've got the majority of the heavy hitters at this point and most of them were between 10 and 30 bucks and I've since noticed the pricing going up and boy am I glad that I jumped on it when I did and it's all thanks to you guys. You should do a video like this about the ps3. I'm in a physical retro group on Facebook and the hot topic of conversation is the sudden spike in PS3 physical game prices which we all think is due to the Sony store closing in July. Certain PS3 games have spiked over 100 bucks literally within a few weeks y'all should check it out
Two years ago I had a hard time just finding a used WiiU to buy since Nintendo pulled all systems from retail when they discontinued it rather than let retailers discount them.
Systems were really tough to find and the end there. The games were being fire sold though. It will be a crazy collectors market in the years to come. Thanks a ton for watching. Cheers!
@@GamingOffTheGrid yeah, after watching this video and looking again I sure wish I had picked some of these up back then because prices have shot up. Sure seems a continuing saga with retro systems here lately, don’t think you have time because everything sure seems to be shooting up in price and stock getting eaten up.
Awesome video guys! Get ready for the comments of "these games are bot rare and it is RU-vidrs fault the prices go up" blah blah blah lol. On another note, if you guys have not played Steamworld Dig 1 and 2 you have GOT to play them they are FANTASTIC metroidvania games
Just got a Wii U myself paid 375 for the console cib 15 games and some accessories. I love it so far, it’s quickly becoming one of my favorite Nintendo consoles
Alright lads, love your channel.lads I bought a Wii U a couple of days ago after watching your videsos. Managed to pick it up at £40 o n marketplace during the hunt. You guys have pulled the retro gaming devil out of me and I've began collecting in the last few months. Collection is coming on pretty decent now all from trading games to pay for my own. Thanks for the advice and keep up the great work. PS if you read this do a UK special and check out Mckewans Champion Ale 😉
Hell ya man! Enjoy that Wii U. Glad you’re enjoying the vids. We’ll see if we can track that brew down. I don’t recall seeing it over here before. Cheers!
Locally I bought my wii u, came with two wii u pro controllers, all cords, splatoon, super smash bros, hyrule warriors and Nintendo land all for $50 and I’m glad I’ve hung onto it rather than selling it strait away to make a profit
I have been eyeballing that beautiful limited edition of Project Zero: Maiden Of Black Water, yes I said Project Zero instead of Fatal Frame because Im from the pal land. It’s expensive as hell but I have a gut feeling that I will regret not buying it during this time. Im sure it will be like tripled in price in the future.
I completed my physical set a few years ago, and over half of my games are still sealed. Yes, I picked up Axiom Verge, and Shakedown Hawaii (those were stressful). Including the Nintendo Select versions, I believe the physical set tops out at 159 or 160 - making it the smallest set for a “major” console relase. Considering that the Dreamcast was 248 licensed NA games, that is significantly smaller. Some titles to look out for: Wii Sports Club - that has never been cheap, especially since Nintendo later pieced them out digitally as individual Sports packs on the eShop. The Nintendo Select versions - I believe it was 6 games in all (I have to check my collection) you know there weren’t too many copies of those printed. Mad Catz TE-S+ Arcade FightStick, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Edition - OK, it’s a peripheral, but come on, how else are you going to play TTT2... plus, it’s technically wireless, since it plugs into your Wii remote. Mass Effect 3 - Considering that this game sold for $60 when the trilogy was almost simultaneously released for PS3/Xbox360?, yeah, I’m sure they sold a ton of copies. Disney Planes Fire & Rescue - This was one of the last games I acquired just before the Switch dropped, and man was it hard to find in the wild. I’m sure there aren’t too many copies around. I struck out at a GameStop when they had the case on the shelf, but not the game. They let me keep the very nice empty case (with insert!) in case I found a disc only somewhere, but low and behold, I found a Target about a week later with ONE copy left at $19.99.
Great video. It's crazy to see what game prices are doing in general. I think certain Wii U games will be valuable, but a lot will come to Earth once the speculation market stables out. Hello Kitty Cruisers is an example on the Wii U. Definitely get what you enjoy, but try not to be the person who buys a terrible game at peak price based off of speculation.
I didn’t realize that myself until I got shipped both discs from GameStop last year during one of their b2g2 sales. I was shocked since most of the times you rarely get a case. To get both discs was pretty cool.
@@swupetey05 Rodea was always with two discs. It only ever came with two discs and was never reprinted, unlike Bayonetta 2. Gamestop would've seen you an incomplete game had they not included the Wii disc.
@@dontegraves5051 Guess you haven’t shopped much with GameStop. They definitely don’t look at it that way. If you are ordering preowned games, all bets are off on what you get. Their listing was for the Wii U copy so they are only required to send the Wii U discs. My buddy ordered his copy during the same deal and he only got the Wii U disc in his order. Plus with Star Fox Wii U, they even split the Star Fox Guard out of the original bundle and sold the discs separately.
Man I loved Cabela's on the Wii U. We like dummy's sold our original Wii U because of disappointment in the game release schedule, but if I knew how expensive Cabela's would become I would have never done that! I have sat on picking it up again for some reason. I bought it at $10.00 in 2015, now it's back at $60.00? Man this sucks because I wouldn't want to flip it. I would love to play it again.
I am sooo glad I finished the whole N/A library a few years back. Technically still missing Hawaii Shakedown but all the hard hitters were taken down early and relatively cheap!
Just got Xenoblade chronicles X Wii U for $25 + shipping, Sealed brand new. I watched this video and went on eBay right after. Keep up the good work my doooods.
I also don't think the Wii U will be the next Saturn or Dreamcast. The PSVITA on the other hand is becoming the Saturn or Dreamcast in collecting since it's so rare to spot vita games in the wild now.
The WiiU sold less than the Gamecube. I think it will be more valuable. Get it while prices are not too crazy or regret it like I regret selling my Saturn and Dreamcast collections.
You guys should do a market report on PS Vita games. They are hot off the chart right now. What do you think is a good buy right now on the PS Vita?? Everything I want are going for insane prices. Danganronpa's, Hyper-D Neptunia's, Legend of Heroes', Even common games like NFS: most wanted, MK, Marvel v Capcom 3, Unit 13 are raising fast.
Good timing! There are few games I wwas curious about on e shop. Metroid Prime Trilogy Star Fox 64 Donkey Country games and 64 one Yoshi's Islands F Zero GX Are they as good as many says?
Heck yeah, you can't go wrong with any of those titles Metroid Prime Trilogy - I wanna get this one myself, as I only played Prime 1 on gamecube which was pretty good(and a demo of Prime 2), at the price $19.99 for all three games that a steal(compare to the price on eBay) StarFox 64 - Been awhile since I played this one, used to have it on N64, it's a good rail shooter, not too difficult to play for newcomer, has different route so their a bit of replay value, looking for something to just casually play this is the one Donkey Kong Country - I can only comment on the SNES titles(1-3), those are great games if you into side scroller, they can get pretty difficult at times but good nonetheless, don't think I beaten any of them(have to change that soon lol) If you got the switch they available on the Nintendo Switch Online service As for DKC Return and Tropical Freeze(I should get those), I heard they pretty good as well DK64 - Pretty fun game from what I played of it, think of it as an easier version of Banjo Kazooie or Super Mario 64, I know some complain about the amount of collectables in the game, which I don't get not like they difficult to collect, not sure if the eshop version has multiplayer vs mode, it pretty simple but can be alot of fun Yoshi Island - Only played the SNES game a bit(I should check the other ones out), if you familiar with the 2D Mario title, you know what you getting here, except with Yoshi and a bit more cutey F Zero X - I remember a friend having this one and playing it with them along with my lil bro, we had some pretty insane races when doing multiplayer was good fun, man the speed you can hit at times can be crazy, definitely a different kind of racer compare to Mario Kart If you still on the fence about getting them, can alway check out reviews
@@RMK245 Oh Thank you! I definitely need this. I've decided to buy the Prime Trilogy. I played some of the 2D games, so I'll try these titles. And yeah, it does seem like steal.
@@cliffturbo2146 You welcome, hopefully you enjoy the Prime games, they're really different from the 2D Metroid for sure but still good stuff, so far I only played thru and finish Super Metroid on the 2D side, so I got alot of catching up to do on both end(including Metroid Other M)
@@cliffturbo2146 Ah that pretty sweet, I believe the first one I played was Metroid Prime 1, since I didn't play Super Metroid until the Wii U(got it as a Club Nintendo reward, when you could use your gold coins to purchase VC games), I recall trying out one of the GBA Metroid on emu was either Zero Mission or Fusion(I think the latter), I'll see if I can grab that one, so many games to get but gotta pace yourself, I still should get Sin & Punishment on the eShop as well, I got S&P Star Successor on Wii but haven't play it yet(dang backlog lol)
Went ahead and bought Nintendo Land before I regret it lol. Id really like find some deep cuts on the Wii U eshop that are strictly on the Wii U but I can't seem to find many. A lotta gems I already have on my 3ds and I'd prefer that since its portable.
Honestly, it's a good system with some neat ideas but what's the point in having a decent system when there's barely any games for it, let alone games that are actually good. I bought the Wii U back in 2013 just for Wind Waker. Outside of Zelda, there's not much I care about. The only Mario game I ever cared about was Sunshine. A lot of people are like me and don't really give a crap about most games on Nintendo consoles apart from Zelda and the occasional Mario game, so if Twilight princes HD and Wind Waker HD get ported to the switch, I just can't see the wii u being desirable at all apart from collectors that just want to own the whole library.
Still have my wii u and not only that it's hooked up to the tv right beside my wii / wii u and Nintendo 64 and yep the N64 is hooked up i never turned my back on retro gaming.
Want to play Metroid prime trilogy but don’t want to spend 100+ bucks on eBay? You can get it right now on Wi U virtual console for 28 bucks.....Canadian! I am currently playing DK 64 on virtual console and loving it! Not to mention, you can get a lot of Wii U games for a fraction of their original prices. Games like DK Tropical freeze, Hyrule Warriors and Bayonetta are going for roughly 15-30 bucks on eBay. The Wii U is the best retro console on the market.
Oh yes! It has such versatility. We’re trying like hell to spread the word before it’s to late. We’re so passionate about the Wii U. And for Zelda fans...... don’t even get me started:). Cheers!
Still have my Devils Third copy sealed from when it came out! Had a feeling it was going to be one that was going to be worth something. Apparently I was right!
I've been picking up tons of Wii U games!! I have lots of doubles I've been hoarding for about a good 3 years now I even have three spare tablets one white console in box one limited edition Zelda with the box I'm prepared for the future :)
Ahead of the market. I think it was 2 years ago around the holiday's Target had a bogo deal on Wii U games. Tons of copies of Game and Wario. Totally missed that opportunity lol. Cheers!
Game and Wario has been hard for me to track down in my area. I was looking for it in 2019 in Gamestops (Its all i have in my area) and the only copy I was able to track down didn't play on my console. I felt the game was a bit over-priced over most other wii u games at $35. I may have to give up on it in 2021 and wait for a port eventually.
A port would be tough due to it using 2 screens. Who knows though they might figure something out. Best of luck finding a copy and thanks for watching. Cheers!
There's never going to be a Game & Wario port. The most Nintendo ever did with the game is re-purpose Gamer for WarioWare Gold on 3Ds. If you want to play Game & Wario, you still have digital download as an option....and Nintendo doesn't require online authentication on their digital software so its a valid option.....
It’s sad to say, but are there ANY consoles that didn’t see an increase in game prices within the past year? I didn’t realize wiiu prices went up that much though!
Good question. Seems like NES has mellowed a lot. Just my gut feeling on that as I'm not looking at the numbers. A lot of disc based stuff is red hot right now though. PS3 will be popping soon too. Cheers!
We are seeing soooo many Wii U disks with pinholes. Has to be a manufacturing flaw as the disks aren’t that old. Hold up to the light before buying at yardsales, thrift shops etc
cinnamon and coconut ale..... the only thing I don't like is unfortunately, the ale. $102 for gaming Wario?! I could buy a device that could pull Wario out of a video game or pull me into a video game world for $101.98
