I'm gonna buy a Wii U soon and this video is just stoking my excitement. I think you're number 1 reason is also my number 1 reason, I'm kinda new to the Zelda series and there's a lot of games in it I still wanna play that the Wii U will make convenient to do so.
My #1 is homebrew solution related. I love my GameCube but that lives in my retro game room. Did the HomeBrew to allow for GameCube support in the vWii on my WiiU. My WiiU is the system that lives in our living room so I have GameCube, Wii, WiiU along with all the WiiU eShop greatness all on one system.
I really enjoyed the Virtual Console scene, especially when TG-16 games were up for offer--what a great AFFORDABLE way to get in some times with a handful of amazing games from an oft-forgotten 16-bit system. REALLY hoped for a way to play 3DS games on the TV--still hoping in fact. Seriously, having access to games like this would have been AMAZING when I was a kid--especially at these prices!!! But being able to have so many Zelda games in one spot--totally would've been a sole seller alone for me.
First time watching videos on your channel, and i never expected what number one would be, and that is so true i know two of my friends who bought the Wii U back 2019 because of Zelda games, and the way i got interested on the Wii U and how i got it is a long story, But i finally have one now, My last Nintendo console was the N64 i know i can never revisit my favorite N64 games on the Wii U but i am glad there's a couple of N64 titles on the Wii U, And i can't wait to get introduced to some of the Wii U games and simply just enjoy gaming, Thank you for the video i really enjoyed it
Hell ya! Glad you found us. That is always good to hear. It's an f'n grid as a smaller channel on You Tube. Glad you enjoyed the video. Appreciate the comment and feedback. Cheers!
Great video guys as usual. I'm on the lookout for a WiiU because i regret immensely selling mine a few years back, i had the Zelda edition and was beautiful!! the gold embroidery on the gamepad was something to behold, but i have one question is the eshop still open for WiiU?
Hello. Really happy I found this channel. I love your videos. I've been checking out the Wii U vids as of late. I also love the featured beverage in the videos, that's really neat. Subbed ✋
i just bought the rare white one that modded with a 500gb ssd. my seller installed 34 best wii u library on here. its FUCKING A amazing!! I regretted selling the 32gb piano blk wii u back in 2014 but THIS ONE!! IM KEEPING!!! 2021 what a time to be alive!!!
If you made it a top 10 I would definately add the Wii U Pro Controller to the list! It's the most comfortable controller to use for me. I love the parallel analog sticks. Add the fact it lasts nearly 80 hours per charge, and it's definitely a winner!
Great video guys! When you first started really talking about the Wii U a couple months ago I went out searching for them. I picked up a Mario kart Wii U CIB, and two lose consoles. Besides testing out the systems, I’ve never played one. Glad I did. This is my dogecoin! 🤷🏻♂️🍻✌️
I bought the Wii U very late by the end of 2019. It was mainly for Xenoblade Chronicles X, but I didn't had a regular Wii either, so that was a 2 in one console for me.
GOTG for life great video i love the wiiu its awesome your videos are awesome i love the launch title madness i love your wiiu videos man i just love every video that you make you guys are always make me laugh congratulations on 3 years of this channel
Great episode guys. Just finished getting a Lords of Thunder 1cc on WiiU. Figure they would have taken what worked and moved it on to the Switch, that would be amazing.
i went through the nes and snes games and got alot of them. this way i get to play these older and great games on new tv's. thats a big highlight for me. and wii games in hd. so its perfect on my end
Agreed so much with No. 3, Worst mistake Nintendo has ever made is not having dual screen co-op in Mario Kart 8. Seems like a no-brainer, me and my sister were super expecting it when we first played the game!
@Walther Penne well I always wanted an original Gameboy complete in box since I didn't have one as a kid. Those are discontinued but I was able to get one this last year and for about $100 total. I'm not planning on dying any time soon so that "one day" could be in 20 years when the market tanks. Or I can just play the games with my friends.
As crazy as it sounds, the Wii U is actually fully backwards compatible with GameCube! Nintendo just flipped a virtual switch to turn off the functionality, but it's possible to hack it to turn it back on. It's a bit of a pain, but there's a way to install them, so they'll run like Virtual Console games with icons on the gamepad. I've tried a few dozen games and so far they all work... even in 4:3 or widescreen as preferred! I plan to publish a video later this week on my channel to show how it all works. :)
@@GamingOffTheGrid I don't blame you. I put it off for a long time too. The process isn't difficult, but there's a lot of gotchas and you need a PC (I had to borrow one since I'm a Mac guy), so my video will mostly be helping people avoid the gotchas. I really gotta make time to shoot that tonight!
A ton of games support switching the display to tablet mode freeing up the TV for someone else to play a different console or watch TV. This was always my favorite thing which the Switch perfected, but the Wii U still has the better eshop.
Two and four could've been summed up as one saying it has an incredible Virtual Console and then have it's strong eshop as it's own entry. Another great video fellas! Keep bringing love to my baby, the Wii U
I haven’t played my Wii U in a while but I have always loved it ever since it was released. I love that you can play ds games on the Wii U because my hands always cramp up playing on Nintendo handhelds since my hands are too big lol
@@GamingOffTheGrid I totally agree a DS cart slot would have made it one of the most collectible consoles and may have made it sell better. The trade off I suppose is we got the switch from its failure even though I saw it as a home run at the time for first party games.
You guys convinced me I will buy a Wii U at some point never owned one and I know it had poor sales I was not sure but when you said compatible with the Wii I was amazed never knew it was and loads of zelda games that I never played sure I love the switch don't get me wrong but a Wii U would be amazing to have
Sooner better than later... I got the Family one for Christmas and we went on a 2 month treasure hunt to build up a game library. From Gamestop to mom n pops, we got a lot of the goodies for cheap. In the last month or so It's went from almost every Gamestop having at least a handful of games, to now almost every store not having any. A lot of the selection at retro shops are starting to be pretty thin, and even in a couple months, the prices on some must have titles has gone up. There are still good games to be had for cheap, and good deals to be found, but the longer you wait, the fewer and farther between they will pop up. Now is the time as far as price, availability, and condition you can find systems in. Especially with every RU-vidr making vids on it, the prices wont go down any more. And lastly lol, a lot of the more popular games are still active online and the eshop is still available. Who knows what it will be like in a year, but it would suck to get one, get Smash, Mario kart, Splatoon etc. and not be able to play online or download updates/patches. As a gaming lifer, with extensive libraries for multiple systems, I can't lie, it ha been the most played console in my house since buying it. Get one and you wont regret it... if you do, lmk and I'll buy it off you lol
On my AUS Wii U Eshop and I assume this would apply to Europe. TurboGrapx is a listed option among Virtual Console next to GBA you don't have to search for them. Weird you have to for the US Wii U Eshop, makes no sense for there to not be a button. Seems they didn't bother and moved to the Switch but I assume not the case in Europe and updating the Indies that came out also in the New Releases section too. No hacked/jailbroken console, its just there. Good list though. Love my Wii U for many of the things listed of course.
Is that unlockable Zelda game for Game and Watch for only available through the Wii U digital version of the game? Or is it on the physical version cart as well? Great video guys and I absolutely agree with your number one you guys rock!
We didn't know but are really glad you told us. Just looked it up. We have it on PS4 but we'll definitely get it on the Wii U as well. Very cool. Cheers!
Man you guys are going HAM on Wii U content lol. Good stuff. I just got one with 9 games for $100 on Saturday, spent all afternoon playing Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles on it. I forgot how fun light gun games are and then add the Resident Evil world to that * chef kiss*
Hey guys!! You need to try the Rugby game in te Mario and Sonic Rio 2016 olympic games. I am having a blast with my kids. It is the most fun i had in a local multiplayer game in years. I know you guys will like it. Cheers.
I've never owned a switch or Wii U and I just picked up a U about 2 weeks ago. I'm absolutely loving it so far. Only downside so far is the battery for the game pad is about done. But I have an OEM replacement on the way!!
Lego City Undercover and Fatal Frame. And I got a question for you guys. If a person who has a first run Wii with the GameCube ports and they wanted to get a GameCube just to play Game Boy games would that be a yea to you guys? And my wording might be different but yea for the money side for playing Game Boy games on the GameCube
I picked up a Wii U last month to play Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD... I hope those two games aren't rereleased on the Switch so that my purchase if warranted.
Hell ya! Even if they get ported the tablet functions in those games will remain exclusive to the Wii U. And in both those games it’s damn good. Cheers!
You guys obviously love the Wii U for the tablet concept...Everyone loves the portability of the Switch....im suprised u guys are so down on handhelds....as I get older, handheld gaming has become king in my life....I only play Wii U and Switch handheld, and mostly play my PS4 games thru remote play on my phone(actual controller)
I know its probably not for you guys, but hacking it gives the ability to also play gamecube games provided you have already backed them up. They basically can run just as good as native as its basically an upgraded wii and contains similar yet upgraded hardware. You can even buy a GameCube controller adapter. Hacking also allows you to play imports as well as turn it into an emulation machine.
I love my Wii U and I didn't buy one until after it flopped and the Switch was out. I wanted to play modern games without paying retail. I got a great deal at the time. I think I paid around $90 or so for the white 8GB version of the Wii U with both the gamepad and a pro controller. Got mario kart 8 for well under $10 and started buying other games also. I have a pretty good collection by now and I would say on average I pay under $10 per game. Most have the cases and manuals, but I'll go without those to get a better deal. I really only care about the disc itself. Nice to have the case, but I won't pay more for it. As far as Wii and Gamecube games go, I do have some that I play on the Wii U, but there's no doubt the best place to play Wii games is on Dolphin. It's by far a better experience and very easy to set up. Very easy to connect your Wiimotes, balance board, GC controllers, etc. And Dolphin is in a league of it's own when it comes to the display. Want to play Mario Galaxy in 4K 60 FPS? Play it on Dolphin. Want to see what Mario Galaxy would look like if they remastered it for the Switch? It would look like Mario Galaxy on Wii emulated with Dolphin. Also, you can play games from the Wii Eshop on Dolphin as well. Excitebike World Rally is outstanding on Dolphin. Honestly every game is better on Dolphin than on the physical hardware, Gamecube, Wii, or Wii U.
@@GamingOffTheGrid I've noticed Wii U values have increased significantly since I bought mine. Yeah definitely check out Dolphin. The games look so much better. Some exponentially so. It looks like the developers designed the Mario Galaxy games with much more detail than the hardware was capable of. Those games in particular look incredible. Even New Super Mario Bros looks a lot smoother. You can see the rough edges on the characters are all smoothed out. GameCube too. The upscaling on the Wii U does not compare at all. Love the Wii U, but as far as Wii and GameCube, play on Dolphin for sure. I dig the show.
My best reason is if the previous owner bought eshop games, they are are locked to that unit. And re-downloadable. The one I got had 50+ virtual console games on the wii side.
I'd say the Wii U is at the very least on par with the GameCube in terms of Zelda games playable, seeing as how the GameCube has access to all the GBC and GBA Zelda games via the Game Boy Player as well as Zelda 1, Zelda 2, Ocarina of Time, and Majora's Mask via the Collector's Edition
The Wii U flopped so hard. I always thought it was stupid that they made a console with the graphics power of an Xbox 360 right when next gen consoles were about to get released.
It did for sure and when we got one we weren't expecting to like it. But damn were we wrong. Some really fun games and the games that properly integrate the tablet are amazing. Thanks for watching. Cheers!
Dang man, thanks a ton! We have a long way to go and a lot of things to work on for sure. Subs will come with time and consistency hopefully. If not we're having a good time :). Cheers!
I know someone who bought a Wii U for the new Smash Brothers or Mario Kart game at the time, but they’re not a gamer so they never even opened it. I don’t really understand why they bought it to begin with. It’s still brand new in-box lol.
Me going through the video: Yeah, yeah. True. Good point. You're not wrong. Holy crap Zelda! Why am I watching RU-vid videos? I need to get back to my Wii U! Also, best way to play Rayman Legends with the touch screen. But Zelda's truly the biggest reason.
This is a bit expensive, but you can replicate multi-screen multiplayer by having a second Switch. Hell, PAC-MAN VS. its built specially to use multiple Switches.
Well guys, I had bought a WiiU recently but had to sell it because the disc loading noise was too loud (it wasn't faulty). I had no idea the fan was one speed only, turbo! I upgraded to the switch and don't really regret it...not for me.. 👍
Do you think the Switch will ever drop in price? I genuinely think the console and games regardless will always be retail price. Have we ever seen that before with a console?
That's a great question. I don't see it happening any time soon. Hell they can barely keep up with demand as is. It will be interesting if the Pro comes out what they do with pricing. Cheers!
@@GamingOffTheGrid I think if Nintendo makes a "Super Switch" for their next backward compatible console for 299 and discontinue the standard Switch, we'll probably see some discounts on used Switches However Nintendo has never been one to put their old hardware on sale, they pretty much discontinue it and your best hope is that retailers discount them.
The best part of the Turbografx game on the Eshop is some of the games are Turbografx CD games. The regular games are super easy to emulate. The CD games however are a HUGE pain in the ass. Some work, some don't. No rhyme or reason to it. They'll work in retroarch but the walkthrough for just setting the damn thing up is like 10 pages long. The second I saw Lords Of Thunder I bought it immediately. I'm not really a shooter guy either but that's a top 10, arguably top 5, best Turbografx game period. And it's an even better version than the Sega CD version. Best version of the game. No hassle. Under $10. No brainer!
Uhm, actually the WiiU doesn't read GC discs, but it does run GC software via homebrew. On the other hand, it is not compatible with GC gamepad when in wii mode, so if you have an adaptor you can only use it for smash (or gamecube games...)
I play mine because smash bros is still alive online. Once Nintendo kills online mode, I'm done with it. Just because of online is the only reason I still play it and haven't upgraded to Switch Smash bros yet. If it's still working, there's no reason to buy a new system.
I think Wii U would have lasted so much longer if they had a 3DS slot. I would have killed for it. Got over 1000 NDS games and over 300 3DS Games. My favorite system.
