You are wrong, they should have keept Hidden Fates been a one shot thing, instead of trying to milk a succes, that they could not keep up with. Since mid 2019, the producers, artist, and sellers, have gone total LOCO 😆

I honestly think there is a 101% chance that they WILL include shiny Secret Illustration Rares. Not only just include them, but there is also a chance that we get ORIGINAL SIRs as shinies, so no reskins. A lot of people had hot takes similar to this when Scarlet and Violet base before Art Rares and SIRs were revealed in that set and caught everyone off guard. This set literally just got announced, let's give it some time before we assume what we think we know because there's a lot we probably don't know yet.

@B0wserfan I'll be waiting for you bud. I said there's a chance we get original SIRs and ARs as shinies. So even if I'm wrong about that and they actually do reskin, there will at least for sure be shiny SIRs and ARs guaranteed. It makes no sense for them NOT to include them at this point and you're delusional if you think they won't.

I’m inclined to agree because the TCG has moved past the point where 5ban full arts are exciting, and they know it. SIRs/alts are a given now, in any set.

I feel like Pokemon should release fewer sets per year. So that everyone can have more time to appreciate each set rather than just price hiking it every new release.

I do get where you’re coming from, I do think if they did shiny versions of the SAR cards, That would be insane! However, I think it’s a little early to say we won’t be attached to the Pokémon in shiny treasure. Like we’re most likely gonna get shiny gardevoir, shiny garchomp, shiny pidgeot! So I think people will still be hyped when the full set is revealed :)

I needed a set to skip, and I’m hoping maybe there are just a couple singles I’d want to pick up in the English equivalent. I’ll be buying early SV and 151 singles through 2024 as they drop in price, so being able to put any opening money towards singles early next year would be nice. This may be the chance for that.

Good take again J, I agree there is unlikely to be much more after the Zard being Dark Type. Would be good if they did SAR trainers and got the special arts in before the babies. Maybe 4 golds again. To be honest I think it's hard work if the sets are more than 100 SR's so expensive to try complete right! I'll wait for the singles to cool down a couple months down the line for my PC. Thanks for pointing this out man

11:46 No worries, I can say I am very glad that you do not pretend to be excited/like something. I wish more Pokemon card channels would mellow out and be more honest and have more grounded takes. It's a disservice to be blind to what could be improved but too many channels think otherwise. Not only is the Charizard shiny reprint very lackluster but I'm sick of Charizard and would love to see any other pokemon get even a fraction of the attention it gets.

It would be so much more exciting to get shiny cards with brand new art work with dynamic compositions. Recoloring the same full arts is getting stale, especially because the 3 shiny sets all look the same with a white background and recolor. They need to innovate… make unique art, feature AR and SAR cards with shiny pokemon

Big agree. This looks like a Shining Fates kinda set with shinings (awesome) but reprinted arts and newer gen less popular Pokemon which just kills it for me.

I agree with the sentiment of sets needing more time before we get some shiny stuff. As an example, Ultra Shiny GX was close to the end of SM era, whereas the others from SWSH and SV being much earlier!

Have to agree with you. You would think that by now they would up their game with all the amazing artworks released this year, but instead if they really decide to just go back to back to back with copy pasta, adding a slight colour change, it'll be totally disappointing. However, I am very hopeful in next year's holiday set being a blast like VMAX CLIMAX. I guess the artists needs a holiday too to come back with more brilliant artworks planned for next year.

I agree with the sentiment of this video but I dont think u can eliminate the possibility of shiny special illustration rares bc shining fates was released prior to the release of battle styles (which had the first Alt Arts)--in other words, this is the first set oriented around shiny pokemon being the chase since the release alt arts/SIRs

I personally believe they did this, so kids that are getting into pokemon via Gen 9 with Scarlet and Violet games can easily tell the difference. They could have done crazy artwork. However, being able to tell what makes a pokemon shiny when the art is different is difficult, especially for the younger intended audience.

Agree with you. Thanks! I believe I understand why Pokemon makes these shiny sets. Finding Shinies in the Scarlet and Violet game is rare and so much fun. It makes sense that it's a special set that's more likely to be stocked in big box stores where kids loiter.

last shiny zard was just a reprint with colour change though? and hey SSV is what brought me back and I dont hate the reprint colour changes I kind like these sets its just another way to get cards you might not have been able to pick up 1st time But yes baby shinies are for the win they do really win the show with these sets

I had a feeling the set would turn out like this. Baby shiny are super fun and will rescue opening the product but there will be no value besides the trainer if nothing will be added. But we know something with the golds will happen. They always did it

Pokemon really lost a lot of momentum when sword/Shield ended. I get that it's what they do at the start of a new block, the first set is usually very plain and simple. But to go from Lost origin into Silver tempest and then to Crown Zenith where all these sets have amazing cards to just start it all over again with Scarlet/violet is absolute madness. It's like they just put the handbrake on and it's taking a long time to pick up momentum again. If they continued on with a similar look to the cards and just added in the new pokemon I think we'd all still be raving about it. Instead these new cards just don't have the same bang as sword/Shield

you know what actually makes me angry about the charizard? the pink triangles on it. same pink as the one in obsidian flames, and it made it so indistinguishable with the normal one and I couldn’t tell it was shiny because of them.

It's not that it is the same art. It's that we already had 2 of these shiny looking charizard cards already (the one from obsidian flames/ruler of the black flame) and the promo which is nearly the same? I mean it was all silver and had the shiny treatment. The SIR doesn't look much different to me as well... Then they added a gold version because that wasn't enough. It just feels way too redundant.

I also really agree about the release being too premature. If this was the 2nd year, we might not only have more time for better cards/pokemon... but it wouldn't feel like reprints were so close together.

I would be cool with a shiny AKIRA EGAWA Charizard, the one from Obsidian Flames/Ruler of the Black Flame. But the lazy, CGI Charizards are awful.

The Charizard VMAX in SSV actually looked really cool. Most of the new EX FA (Charizard EX), are kinda sad to look at. This time round it's making the Pokemon Company look too lazy to do anything else with them. However some of the textures on them are pretty nice so it will be interesting to see what they're like with the textures, maybe that will save them. Right now I agree, the baby shinies are stealing the show right now, especially shiny pooper :)

To be fair, we can't say for sure exactly what's included. Also, if you actually play the card game in Japan, then this set is nice because it includes a lot of meta relevant cards. I'm planning to pick up some boxes. I agree as things stand, this set doesn't look as good as v star universe or v max climax. However, I'm staying optimistic

After Vmax climax and Vstar universe, this appears to be a massive step back. As an artist, I would much prefer to be given the artistic freedom to present Pokémon with a scene/narrative, as opposed to some CGI full art.

Ever since sun and moon, the majority of "full art" style cards (a stock photo of the Pokémon pasted in front of a sometimes random background design with often uncomplementary colors) have been bland and uninteresting. Even if the Pokémon has its shiny colors.

As soon as i saw the news that we get another recolored-full-art shiny set i was extremely disappointed. Hidden Fates is one of my favorite sets and it was one of the sets that got me in the hobby again but after we got alt arts in the base set of this generation i really thought pokémon would do something new this time. There are already such cool fan versions of recolored shiny alt arts and it's really not that hard. Maybe it has to do with respect for the artist or something written in the contract that TPC can't change the artworks... Idk. I just hope this is the last recolor set. But it will definitely sell like hotcakes so they will do it again. 🙃 And we don't have the chance to get a full art shiny luxray in this set neither. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

Yea, at this point with all the amazing illustration and special illustration rates that have come out in SV this set just feels lazy. It’s actually kinda insulting that they think just changing two colors on a Charizard card in photoshop qualifies that busy, overprinted card to be released AGAIN. People should have higher standards in line with the higher quality of illustrations we’ve increasingly been getting, idk why people are so ok with mediocrity.
