I think you could have just used vinegar to remove the rust by letting it sit in the pot longer. Of course the bottom would be harder to do with vinegar. Most of the time, a wire brush attachment to a drill will get rid of rust very fast, followed by light sanding to smooth the surface. Also, never let wet raw steel air dry. It will rust again immediately. There are still rust spots on your pan and will eventually come off into your food. You could have towel dried, applied a little heat and wipe with a coat of oil.

Nowadays not many housewives would like to use iron pans . Perhaps only roadside hawkers will use . By paying extra for a non-stick pan , alot of work could have been saved . Moreover it is time constraints. For those who can afford ,they may as well use electrical stove. Clean and smokeless. TQ
