Welcome to It's OK to talk!
Here we talk about lots of interesting things.. (To me, anyway)
These things can include addiction to alcohol and binge drinking, marijuana/cannabis/weed addiction, addiction to sugar, processed food and binge eating, addiction to pornography and social media, dealing with depression, anxiety and panic attacks, men's mental health, personal accountability, the benefits of physical exercise and maintaining a healthy diet, challenging yourself daily both physically and mentally and much, much more.
In this particular video I talk about quitting alcohol for 365 days.

I really don’t want this to sound aggressive or mean but I need to say this.. You are not a 20 year old single alcoholic that’s trying to figure things out. You are 33 with a family. Ask yourself why you think it’s ok to leave them for a month to continue this madness? You need to get HELP and asap. Take some responsibility because you’re hurting people. It’s not all about you man. Best of luck with everything and I really mean that🤞🏼

It’s comforting to see something like this. Your videos appeared in my home feed this morning so I thought why not, I’ll watch some. I relapsed a week ago so I’m right in the boat with you. We’re the same age too so this resonates with me. My advice to you, you have little kids man, you need to get sober now because someday you’re going to look back and wish you were clear headed enough to remember their time as little children.

Hey brother! Don't give up. There are people posting here (and with much respect 🙏) who don't understand that your troubles come from much deeper challenges beyond your control and your past and you're doing everything you can. People who comment without experiencing this are living in 2D.. this is a 4D cheese puzzle but you will work it out. Be kind to yourself and remember you are one step away from meeting the right person or the right guide or the right replacement for what is missing in your life and it will change. Focus on why your emotional cup needs filling by alcohol.. once you work that out go forward and work out the emotional gaps from your behavior on alcohol.. then forgive yourself and make it your life mission. Once your emotional cup is full then you unlock the next level and you can help others! Keep being honest! You'll smash this!

It’s all a process brother. The world isn’t over, life goes on, and so will your journey. If we constantly put up unrealistic expectations for ourselves that we can’t seem to achieve, we will also be stuck in a constant cycle of disappointment and feeling like a failure.

Do you happen to have bipolar disorder? I am currently 3 months sober. I have a very addictive personality, I can’t just have one drink or some drugs it’s all or nothing. Mindless spending and gambling have ruined my life. I am very impulsive and have randomly quit jobs and left the country three times hoping I’d be able to start from scratch and be better but it never works and I end up even worse off. I become obsessed working out and fasting which also leads to an eating disorder and huge weight loss including muscle. I am one of those people who can quit drinking for a month or more and actually feel worse. I drank heavily on antipsychotics which are hard on the liver for years and recently found out I had liver damage. I’m 38 and although I don’t feel better mentally for not drinking I know my body is way healthier as reflected in recent blood tests. All the best!

I just commented on your previous video. I knew by how you were talking that you weren't ready to quit. If you can't imagine not drinking again which you said numerous times you inevitably will. I think you need to sign into a rehab centre and stay until you are ready to leave. I'm an alcoholic and son of an alcoholic. If you are going to continue to drink stay out of their lives. Going to Thailand seems like you wanted to get away from watching eyes.. For people calling you selfish etc. you are but so are all addicts. Get your shit together and get home. Good luck

They say that alcoholics are selfish and my God you are proving that saying to be true. I make no apologies for what i am going to write here because i think you need a kick up the a**. What are you doing in Thailand?! You are doing a geographical, it's not the location that is the problem, it's you. You seem to talk the talk, great cliche, give walking the walk a go. When i watched the video before this one, all you did was prophesise and procrastinate. Until you change your mindset you are going to fail every time. I am sorry if you think this is harsh but you need a wake-up call. My heart goes out to your family, they never asked for any of this. Stop chasing the 'high's'. Get off the weed, get off the alcohol, go back to your family and seek help asap or you will have NOTHING! I am a recovering alcoholic (31 years) who has had my fair share of struggling and white knuckling, no-one said it was easy. It is hard i get that but maybe you haven't reached your rock bottom but i hope for your family's sake that you have. I send you prayers and strength x

I just came across your channel, watched this and previous longer vid and another one, subscribed. Sorry you have been battling this and relapsed, but it is normal, people relapse many, many times before they succeed. Try when you do relapse, to limit it to that evening, don't turn it into days or weeks of binging, get back on track immediately and don't count as day 1 again, not the day 1, just continue the next day with sobriety. Regarding fasting, I would first eat well for few days and hydrate, stabilize your electrolytes and blood sugar then fast. Few days of good protein, fruit and veg, water, then if you feel like it do a fast. You probably heard about Allen Carr's book Easy way to stop drinking, really good. You will have to come to a point as he says where you don't see anymore benefits not even a bit in drinking alcohol. Same for other substances. The idea of moderation that creeps up after sometime of sobriety is normal but it is false, look at it as some evil demon trying to lie to you. It doesn't work and you will be back in no time to full blown drinking and worse than before. Some people might have to go through this numerous times before they get it. Heed this warning from others that know how this works. I can't recommend enough Bardia Rez, The stop drinking coach on yt and on applepodcasts, he is just awesome, his podcasts imho are the best. Check it out. Listen while you walk, exercise, before bed, or while doing chores. Really excellent stuff. He explains so well how dopamine reward system works so you understand the underlying mechanisms.

You remind me a lot of my journey to sobriety, lots of day ones, but still not 100% committed to being sober because I didn’t want to believe I was a full on alcoholic. It’s true what they say, the bottoms get worse over the years , they go from embarrassing, to dangerous to life threatening . I almost ruined my family to the point of no return. Said from a place of love and empathy please seek serious help and embrace sobriety with everything you have, because it’s also true what they say, you can have life beyond your wildest dreams 🙏

I got sick of being in the same habitual circle. I was the only being that was able to control my life and choices. I had periods of sobriety then thought I could have the one. Turns out I’m not wired like that. The wheel will only spin around so many times before it breaks. Cutting alcohol out of my life has made everything so incredible. It is possible to quit. Sounds like you need to really get some help with it though man. You got this.

Ask yourself WHY you drink. We drink to cover up the pain, regret, exhaustion. We drink to drink away the lack of connection we crave and need from the people we desperately love. We drink because we are exhausted and want to escape the grind. We NEED to find healthy ALTERNATIVE coping mechanisms. Enjoy nature. Read. Take a bath. Exercise. Pray write. Draw. Paint. Spend time with loved ones. Go get a massage. Enjoy a sauna.. So many things we can do besides drinking. One more learn. Do research watch documentaries. Learn something new every single day. And above all DONT GIVE UP!

Step 1: Dont drink Step 2: Go home and show your family that you are there for them Step 3: Dont drink Step 4: Get a glimpse of the fact the you are the most dishonest person to yourself. Day one bla bla bla. These words dont mean nothing to you. Step 5: Just dont drink. Step 6: Dont start with everything at once. Forget fasting to extrem. Forget sports to the extreme. Its to much to handle at first. You want to really change your life? Start with not drinking at look how it turns out. I was in your place for like 5 years. Its a vicious cycle only can break. Step 7: Dont say we are back at day one, as if you are not alone in this. Its just you that messes up, dont the collective. Step 8 to 10: Just dont f-ing drink. Get your shit together man. Be the man your family can rely on, not the man how says words that dont mean nothing to him. Stay strong

He does not want to get better! It’s as simple as that, he can justify all of this in his head, but it’s very clear, he is in deep denial and resisting proper recovery and doing the deep psychological and emotional work that needs to be done, instead thinking that a water fast is going to get him centred.

@mandywaddington3814 Месяц назад
I am a recovering alcoholic and have been sober for 8 years, so I think I have a basic idea. I also am a recovery coach, and my point was less about ‘responsibility’ and more about acknowledging that he has a problem and needs help from a power greater than him (and his addiction) aka Step 1. By his actions it’s evident that he’s still ‘negotiating’ with his illness, so not ready to accept his powerlessness.

Thanks for your videos, it sounds to me that you have a strong fear of living in reality Sober and without being under the influence of Alcohol and drugs/weed, you go without drinking for awhile then it gets to overwheling, and boring for you maybe you get discouraged and start drinking aagain. I understand i was an Alcoholic for over 20 years and started drinking as as a teenager. I will give you some advice, no mater how uncomfortable you feel when your sober and not drinking, no matter how bored you feel, stressed, overwhelmed, anxious etc... you just have to face it and go through it no matter how crazy you may feel without drinking. AlSO God will help you! Praying to God through his Son Jesus Christ, ask God to lift the cravings away from you. Break through that wall of Fear of being sober. Also talk to family and Friends as well when your craving. Nothing is imposible with God he will take away your cravings and desires to drink etc. Also keep in mind you need your brain and mind time to adjust back into reality and you will start feeling more comfortable. God Bless.

It doesn't matter how many times you have to start again! At least your still trying... one day it will stick so you should be proud of yourself for trying again. Self doubt and old ways of living are a very hard thing to brack. You just have to teach yourself how to get through the triggers that makes you want to drink or in my case drink and drugs. I know you will be getting sick of hearing what i just said but it will happen for you one day if you just keep trying. Like i have already said i am now 3 years sober from everything. You just have to find that one reason that makes you stick to it. Through my journey i have grown to end up hating drink and drugs. the longer i stayed away from it all the more i started to see how much it has stole from me. I now promise myself i will never allow it to Steel any more from me. I focus on building the bonds with my children again and also building back up my relationships with my parents and my siblings. Addiction is very hard and it takes everything away from you if you let it. Remember you have got this, you are strong and you make your decisions so take your time in making them

Go watch Gabor Mate, listen to ALL of his talks, you don’t need a book, you need to do the trauma work, do the work we all are avoiding, the pain. You cannot stay sober without doing the work. The alcohol is simply the medication that you are using to numb your pain. As soon as you start with the work and address the underlying need to drink, you will be caught in the mess and the chaos, because that’s where you feel safe and where there is no pain.

Hello sir, I've been in your position (a few times), and the cold reality is you haven't suffered enough emotional pain. I shouldn't speak for any fellow addict with such certainty, but you probably aren't quite tired enough of being tired, and sick of being sick. You have been told about all the methods of stopping, but the only golden ticket is peak spiritual fatigue that brings you to surrender. Rock bottoms are an inconvenience to the addict, which can simply be brushed aside to make way for the next hit. Get yourself to AA asap, it isn't an instant fix, you don't have to blindly worship the literature and steps, but critically get exposed to living life on life's terms. I wish you luck, a life of genuine happiness is still on the table if you want it.

Who is helping your wife with the kids while you are in Thailand living like a 24 yr old single with no kids? You are not neglecting relationships, you have abandoned them. If you are going to drink, do it at home where you can at least be a help to your family. Earn some money and start a savings account for your family so when leave and never come back, they will have a little nest egg. Can’t you at least love your children? You are worried about your back, you might want to replace that with care for your children. Snap out of it man. Go home and take your kids to the park and run and play with them.

So don't go to Thailand if I want to stay sober is the lesson here lol. But seriosly, I dont think you need to go cold turkey and never take drugs or alcohol again. Im not doing that. Im going a year sober and creating strict rules for myself when/if I come back to but gotta go at least a year first

Mary K baxter testimony of heaven and hell....I'm telling you. I'm still a work in progress...and haven't quit completely. Often it's a journey and a process. We really need to process our why's and the pain in order to really quit and not seek the exhilarating yet numbing in a way fun of alcohol. She has blessed me so much with her testimony. Look it up here on RU-vid. You will definitely NOT regret it.

The saddest part is I know you are still drinking. Stop, read Allen Carr and become free. Otherwise, this series is pointless.

I think this channel is just about you relapsing then saying all the stuff to quit then next video telling us how you relapsed again. Thailand is the last place I would go with a drinking problem. Serious health issues are looming and your beautiful life will be no more. I really don’t think you are motivated to quit. You know how crappy your life is with the bottle but grab it again when life gets boring. Life is boring most of the time eat some chocolate and watch TV

I see myself in these videos, mate We're living lives we hate, but the lives we think we want are boring and empty. Family. Friends. Work. Bills. Dishes. Bins. Food. Cleaning... Blah, blah, blah... There is no peace until we have a drink. Failure is a crushing pressure, so we have to push ourselves to the limit until we reach failure again, then we can feel sorry for ourselves and have a drink again to ameliorate the pain, then spiral down and drink, drink, drink... You say the same stuff about food/calories, exercise, fasting, 'getting better', weight gain (I stopped weighing myself when I reached 120kgs), bullshit I say... My point is, it's not you. You're a good person. You need help. A demon has you in its grip. You can escape it with help. Get help
