My daughter has a white American mother and a Japanese father. She speaks two languages, eats two different foods, has two passports, supports two teams in the Olympics. She tells her American family members that she’s American and she tells her Japanese friends that she’s Japanese. Isn’t it amazing that both things can be true?
Yeah like Keanu Reeves, White English Mother Native Hawaian Father. And he is kicking Ass, So what is the problem, if Kamala is half Indian and Jamaican, she will still be able to kick Trump's Rump at the Polls and make a great American President.
Trust me. As one who grew up in a family with domestic violence.... no, no, no. My parents stayed together. We children suffered. I cannot understand any advocacy for denying divorce.
Many in Australia can't believe 50% +/- of Americans would vote for Trump. I can't believe about 50% +/- of Australians would vote for Dutton and the LNP.
It’s because you listen to carefully curated hit pieces towards trump that turn him into a complete boogeyman for you, if you would only listen to a complete sentence that is spoken from anyone on the conservative side, you would be surprised
I like your comment. I can't believe that some people will be voting for Trump JD Vance, and Republicans. Where are brains and intelligence for people who are going to vote for Trump? 😮😮😮😮
JD: "I think we should have more people having more babies." Population: "Oh, so you're going to institute a new housing policy to make owning a home cheaper, increase the minimum wage so more people can afford to look after their kids, and make healthcare free for everybody below the age of 18 including birthing so parents know their kids will always be safe and well?" JD: "Wait no lot like that!"
That's why I left the pro- birth repug party in the 80's. Once I heard reagan's "trickle down" policy I realized repugs were neither pro-life nor Christians if they weren't willing to make having a family affordable. reagan administration ruined democracy by bringing religious agenda into our politics.Even JESUS warned us not to have religious agendas & money in politics
It's attention seeking behavior. Everybody talking about Harris, nobody talking about me. I'm going to get some headlines, make the discussion about me. Narcissism!
Just showing their ignorance. Many maga's seem to be very PROUD to be ignorant & ASLEEP!!! another example of their HYPOCRISY at calling themselves Christians??😮😢
I can tell you that when you get to 60 like me and a person like you who also lived in a house full of domestic violence as a child, the memories don’t fade.
The lower birth rate in the US is all the more reason to allow immigration and encourage these people to become citizens of the US. We all are immigrates, please allow them to become citizens as our ancestors were allowed.
Problem is that statically it is a high rate of military men, exploiting the asylum criteria, mass illegal immigration is never a good thing. Hard to explain the word illegal to anyone these days 🤦♂️
Trump is trying to divide and rule and race is very important for him and his supporters. in this case he thinks by saying she is not black he can make black people not to vote for her
He is literally trying to combat the dishonest identity politics from the other side, gotta love myself some inappropriate twerking and lyrics at Karmala rally
One thing that helped Harris was the Trump campaign circulating the cackling Kamala montage clip a couple of weeks ago. They thought it made her look crazy, but to the majority of people it made her look fun. The contrast between them became even starker, and it was completely to Harris benefit
I love her laugh - genuine and open - what the world needs now is more happy politicians who can also be grown up. Both Anger and Joy are infectious - I know which one I would rather be around
@@samanjj YOU won't be joyful for long, if she flim flams her way into the Presidency. You will be living in a communist country. Let's see how joyful you will be then. Can you at least ponder the fact that she is there because of a coup! I bet you would have voted for Biden, if they would have let him stay. Can you say wishy washy?
As someone who's Bulgarian American, around my Bulgarian friends and family of course I embrace that side of me. Around my American friends I embrace the American side of me. I'm still the same person, but that's how it works. We people are complicated creatures who adapt socially. Trump and the MAGAs simply don't want to understand that. PS: I am absolutely voting for Kamala Harris. She's the future.
When Donald was aged 21, bi-racial marriage was still illegal in the US and he never grew out of the mind set of that time coz his mind had stopped growing long before he got to wear big boy trousers.
Who is creepy? An old man who keeps falling over, can't think or talk coherently, smells little girls hair and lies about basic stuff like his qualifications? Just saying????
He was ambushed. Harris didn't even show up. They made him wait 1/2 hr. Didn't ask him 1 question about his Policies. We're rude and very disrespectful, combative and biased. They did themselves no favours with real Black Voters, that's for sure Ps. How can Harris be "BLACK"?? She's has zero African-American heritage. Her Indian High Caste Great Grandfather had slaves ffs! Anyway 🤔 there's two sides to every story, and after All the lies and B S from media outlets like CNN, MSNBC, the ABC etc, you'd be wise to think the opposite of anything they try and sell You ok. It works! 👍 ps Planet America is political entertainment. It's not REAL👌 😀
But he could have looked strong in a different way that worked for his base and not alienated independant and undecided voters who he needs to win. He can't do it with his base alone. So it's still dumb.
Why would you want to focus on Karmala, she is an empty vessel with no achievements to her name except a failure to remedy a border crisis🤦♂️ I swear I am talking to bots at this point
Are they married to each other? Do they have 6 kids? You gotta have kids you know? Otherwis😂e you might as well have sex with the couch!!!😂😅😅 oh, dear rudy must be SO jealous!!! I wonder if Kim Jung un is handling the break- up???😂
The United States Constitution If it wasn't the President, we could. Because both the President and Vice-president are voted on by the Citizens in all 50 States and the District of Columbia care of the 23rd Amendment, pull up it's history, it automatically pushes Jurisdiction from State up to the Federal Level. Because it has never happened before in the History of this Country, Congress, both Houses, have to define how to apply it, the Citizens have to ratify it and amend the Constitution. A simple majority, or a Super Majority. The House of Representatives can file Articles of Impeachment with the Senate after a Simple Majority of 1. Dealing with the President in the 25th Amendment requires a Super Majority of 2/3rds in both "Houses of Congress".
Have you heard of Jim Jones, he had his followers drink poison Kool-aid to comment suicide and they did. That's what Trump and Trump supporters remind me of.
I don't know. But, have you heard of Jim Jones, he had his followers drink poison Kool-aid to comment suicide and they did not. That's what Trump and Trump supporters remind me of.
Nothing, he and other people are racist, they are above them any different nationality. And yes, I believe she was born in the United States. But even if she wasn't, and a American citizens, above the age of thirty-five, have the backing. She could run for President.
@@roxanereddy2471 no, immigrants are not qualified to be President. It's the only office that has natural born citizenship as a qualification. Hence all the "birther" nonsense about Obama.
*Is this what happens when you can't fight someone on policy you nitpick at their race? I really don't understand what race she is or isn't will affect her policies as President!*
Good to see Chas dropping the ‘both sidesism’ that he often uses as part of his commentary. I get that the program is attempting to be balanced however it lacks credibility when Trump is ‘normalised’.
I hate to say it, but there was another guy with German heritage that had to win an election before he could seize power and ruin a Republic. With so many parallels, I am mystified why the media covers his rallies (nobody did rallies like Trump before him) and Americans are willing to vote for him (even some Republicans who dislike him personally).
He's actually a right wing thinker. More of liberal ,pro individual rights type of guy. Not a big C ,conservative guy who supports pushing conservative values on people. It's not an act he does to make the show 'balanced'. He's said as much about his own political views. He's not a Trump lover because of his authoritarianism but does not have much love for the Democrats either.
@@leechgullyI’d only just noticed; last week he said he was a libertarian and the week before he decried the banning of plastic straws which was a brave admission because it says he doesn’t care about micro plastics in the environment but also that he doesn’t mind people knowing he has the culinary habits of a five year old. I wonder what Craig Reucastel would have to say to him. It’s also odd because libertarians are very niche in Australia and that club is totally utterly bonkers.
@@jennifercarson662 Yes I noticed that many successful women (women that rises to the top) do not have children and most are singles. It's like there is a trade off.
Right 👍, and who cares? Trump's a misogynistic, ignorant, dumb, racist, convicted felon. That's superior to being "black" or "Indian", according to the biggest threat to Liberty and Democracy. Just throw him in jail where he belongs, and throw away the kill.
Black has been referred to as the African American/Negro population. Kamala doesn't descend from there but she has a mixture which includes a dark coloured mother and father
In 1662 there was an act that stated that if a person had one drop of black blood they were classified as being black (1 great grandparent). It was called the one drop rule. Interracial marriages were also illegal in many states. In 1967 Loving and Virginia was upheld by the Supreme Court which ruled that interracial marriages were legal.
@karensandoe547 He did that Chicago interview in person and held a rally in Harrisburg, PA that evening, in person. She can't rival his energy and work ethic.
Why is her race so important, aren’t we supposed to be getting away from race baiting? And this isn’t a racist country??! Additionally, VP Harris said it perfectly when she said our differences makes us a stronger nation.
We should not give him the time of day when he is so disrespectful and should be called out for it . He is so insecure about his identity that he feels he has to go on attack this is so sad😢
That’s one of the least creepy discussions of falling birth rates I’ve heard in a while. The availability of housing absolutely makes sense as a major driver.
Dude still couldn't help going on about A) 'coupling' based on marriage, B) israel and georgia as ideal cultural examples (being conservative states subject to perpetual conflict might have something to do with that) and C) climate change based on 'wine instead of diapers'.
A) Obviously people get married to have kids, so the problem isn't people not getting married, that's just tied up with planning to have kids. You could abandon christian marriage entirely and still have unions or couples out of wedlock. Tying housing to young male employment is a bit weird when it was supposed to be a couples based analysis, and also when the idea is not to scale back female employment as the trad life/replacement theory types want. If men are willing to share the work/life load the couples based analysis can work. Should have asked him if he's pro family planning and parental leave for both parents to clear the air. B) Disingenuous to cite Georgia and Israel, not simply for the reasons already mentioned, but because specific analyses were done since the 90s landmark studies by Esping-Andersen (and subsequent studies) when entire schools of sociology were looking at de-familisation, re-familisation, culture and the welfare state. They weren't making thinktanks to appease electoral groups of xenophobes and misogynists. To be clear, southern and continental eu states with conservative cultures had problems integrating women into the workforce and men into family care, as well as the state into social services, because they expect a traditional family unit in a modern context. Georgia has one thing it needs for economic prosperity, investment, government services etc, and that's EU accession not cultural nationalism. Accession largely hinges on what happens w/ ukraine, so it's an outrageous example for western states. The Israeli situation is even more...unique. C)And what even was the idea that non-essential purchases wine or essential purchases like diapers are climate change rather consumerism and consumption. If you want to talk about the waste, that's sustainability, but it's still just capitalism. At a more fundamental level, growth as power is the same systemic reason why no nation states are actually considering 'depopulation'. Malthusians were an academic moment in the 70s & 80s; they don't actually exist as a group within the climate movement. The climate movement is concerned with A: Fossil fuels removed from below the surface and B: terrestrial GHG. If a population is predominately renewable energy, stabilises LULUCF, and contains negative externalities, anything else is just sustainability in the political ecology. More importantly, the UN has done estimates of global population against climate induced sea level rise and forced migration from coastal areas, and they model 'exclusivist' vs 'inclusive' (extreme conservative isolationism vs moderate liberal cooperation) and find what will stabilise global populations in controlled positive growth is the latter (inclusive) and what will destabilise into steeper rises and falls is the former (exclusive). And obviously dealing with climate change in the first instance is the main factor.
The kicker is "it's not a population issue". He wants an alternative to the immigration issue, but it's just the same old decline of family culture' and 'married couples', rather than the more obvious: decline/apprehension of economic development and human security; i.e. quality of life.
@@ripvanwando "A) Obviously people get married to have kids" What?! How on Earth do you come up with that. Obviously children are bad for the environment and people think long and hard about the environmental impact and costs before having them (presumably).
Trump improved with black voters in these elections compared to 2020 elections. He is now upset Kamala’s candidacy might neutralize the gains he made among black voters-- so he attempts to create doubt about the authenticity of her “blackness”” in the minds of black voters.
Awesome episode as always John and Chas. John, thanks for calling out Trump and his pronunciation of KAH-MAH-LAAH. He's clearly haming it up as some poor quality race baiting - and sounds like an absolute fool.
I agree with you, why bring yourself to the orange clown 🤡 level. At the end VP will be the Next President of the USA. She is a lot smarter than then the orange 🍊 Clown 🤡
People are NOT locked into any ONE part of their ancestry, regardless of whatever combination of cultural, ethnic or racial groups. My cousins are half "white" (in itself a broad spectrum) and Samoan; another bunch are half "white" and Japanese and still another bunch are half "white" and Native American (Cherokee, Eastern Band). WHY would any of them need to be LABELED as ONLY ONE of their backgrounds? Why can't bi and multiracial people have "O" for Other or something else, if they want to?
There race doesn't really matter, my ancestors on my came from England in the 16 hundreds, my mother ancestors came from Ireland. Guess what I am still caucasian. There only a label it, if people make it a issue, it's a status or a bully. I am better than you.
Errr??...Kamala's mother was from India, considered as black, her father was Jamaican considered as black, so to suggest she is not a woman of colour is a tad ridiculous, besides whatever colour has to do with an election I have no idea. We should also keep in mind that America's indigenous people who white people displaced, some would say by genocide, are also known as Indians, at the end of the day who cares.
maybe trump should come clean about his identity and white ancestry....his grandfather changed his heritage from GERMAN to irish not that it makes him any less white but isnt his argument in current day and age a little bit WEIRD and BIGGOTED especially in the multicultural world that we live in today
I think the whole deal with Trump is that he wants the focus to be on him rather than Harris. So he says something crazy to get top stories in the media. Which is why Harris’ response was so good. Just brushed it aside rather than making it into a talking point.
I’ll also mention that Trump doesn’t want the campaign to be about policies so the more time spent arguing about random things, the less time is spent on actual issues.
Im not American, and I shouldn't tell people how to vote. But given that the US is a super power and has access to nuclear weapons, i hope and pray Harris wins. I don't want world war three!!!
as a white brit america is not a white country, its a native indian country that the white Europeans with their guns forcefully took over, this always seems to be forgot
They are journalists, so that would have been wrong and the optics of that would have been counterproductive. Can you not imagine how different the headlines would have been if they had booed him? But their jaws dropped at the jaw dropping comments he made and then when he doubled down and made a laughing stock out of himself, they sniggered and it was a good result. They should invite him back again, because idk her name sorry, but as the journalist interviewed here said - he just can’t help being himself. Just too bad that some Americans find that attractive.
Omg that demographer finishing with having the kids you want and saving the planet for them, such an elegant touch on two existential issues facing humanity
Hmm, maybe. You can tell it is a question he answers a lot. But it still (arguably) infers a selfish case for humans over the case for humans being extinct and letting other non-technological species have the Earth for themselves as it was 500,000 years ago -- WITHOUT any technology like before the humans (or even before the technological age of the humans, which is only

How to pull JD Vance out from that Trump's team? Just say Vance need to be with his couch and cannot be on the campaign trail. Since MAGA supporters believe anything even when they are ridiculous, they can easily find that believable and acceptable without question. Problem solved! And replace JD Vance with another weirdo like Marjorie, or Scott, Cruz, Gaetz, Giuliani, Lindell, Bannon, and a number of other totally weird candidates.
republicans know how to be racist to east indians, and know how to racist to black people, and this is just them knowing how to be racist to biracial people too.
Trump said that he didn't have a problem with Kamala accepting her black or Indian heritage. He is just questioning her authenticity, because she seems like a political chameleon.

34:20 Chas I absolutely agree with you on domestic violence. I grew up with a horrible abusive alcoholic dad. He yelled and screamed at everyone and was drunk every night. 10+ crown lagers every night. It’s horrendously unhealthy to grow up in that kind of home. I developed bipolar disorder and my sister has her own mental illness. I still can’t sleep with anyone else in my bedroom or in a hotel room, even my loyal dog companion.
