I've watched a few of these DKC4 levels and I have to agree. If I didn't know any better, I'd be convinced that David Wise himself composed the soundtrack.
Yeah - considering all the supernatural elements in the DKC games, they still manage to remain fairly grounded. The Kongs never go to space or even the clouds, unlike in Mario games. They never seem to venture through any civilization that isn't scattered industries and cabins or ruins. The newer games sorta broadened the horizon, but before then there were so many different biomes and themes that weren't even represented in the DKC games.
I remember shortly after I played Returns in middle school I had this idea for a World 9 that was space themed lol. Crash Bandicoot Huge Adventure has something that is the closest to an official DKC style space level out there :)
It's amazing how everyone on this project knew how to put every exact detail from the original SNES DKC Trilogy games. I can't wait to play the final version.
i need a polished version of this game that i can put on my snes classic like any other rom. will pay an exorbitant amount of money if it was on the same quality level as dkc
The DKC4 team have managed to capture the original feel, soundtrack and tight controls of the original DKC Trilogy, something the new DKC games sorely lack -- what a talented bunch! This is the game I was desperate to find as a kid, and now my childhood dreams are coming true :') DKC: Tropical Freeze has amazing levels of creativity, level design and effort put into it, but what it failed to do, apart from bringing David Wise back for the OST, was to capture the tight controls and the amazing atmosphere of the original DKC games. DKC:TF is more cartoony, "fun", and light-hearted, while DKC2 had a more dark and gritty tone filled with atmospheric vibes complemented by the atmospheric OST. And my biggest complaint with DKC:TF is the horrible controls -- they're so frustrating, not fun at all to use, and have so much input lag, require timing to pull off simple movements, and ruin an otherwise well crafted game. I'm hoping the next entry in the DKC franchise can take notes from the DKC4 team and try and capture that original atmospheric look and feel of the DKC Trilogy games, and incorporate better controls.
I thought the controls in dkcr and tf were very good I hate that you have to hold down the grab button on ropes and ledges though and I miss controlling the characters separately and the 2p contest mode other than that the games were awesome and David wise doing the soundtrack for tropical freeze was arguably his best imo
I try to find graphical errors in this but seems like everything works just fine. As if everything was actually made by Rareware, feels organic and the soundtrack is also fitting. Damn. It's like a dream come true.
What a lovely level ! Very good job and congratulations for assistants , programmers and others , thinking about space , best idea and this music , so much memories when i watch this , donkey kong is not the past but the présent perfect !
Never expected this level. This is almost the real DK4. This level brought me tears especially seeing all golden animals. Feels like they are in heaven after all those years helping kongs through difficult times.
this perfectly captures the feeling of renting a game as a kid for a weekend and only being able to play a couple levels. but for those few levels everything' seemed newer, prettier, and more magical. this is what a Friday night felt like when you were a kid in the 90s.
😌This video & the song are 999, 999, 999, 999, 999, 999% soothing & peaceful. Moves through me like a waterfall in the woods. That's a simile of mine I invented ever since July 2006. Please keep this video on RU-vid forever & don't remove it at all.
My Donkey Kong Country 4 would have been a New Orleans /Swamp theme. Swanky and Funky are at a casino when all the other Kongs get captured so you play as them. One level is a Kremling themed Mardi Gras parade and there are casino bonus games. K Rool has a crocodile skull mask and is into voodoo now. He has voodoo dolls of all the Kongs and uses them to his advantage. Instead of rat enemies you would have possums. Also, there are good Kremlings that help you out along the way. That’s just off the top of my head
Please keep this video on RU-vid & don't remove it nor change it at all. It's very beautiful & a video that helps keep my mind off of depression, anxiety & ofcourse any kinds of mixed feelings I'm having about the nasty & heinous Coronavirus. & it makes me think that Donkey Kong & his family are being rid of The Coronavirus for all of us once & for all. Oh & 4give me 4 adding too may descriptions, details & feelings, but I also find this video totally worth meditating on as well. 😃😉😁😅😌
Oh WOW This Is Truly An Amazingly Beautiful Example Of AweSomeNess PerSoNiFied. I Did Not See This Level In The Playthrough Of Levels For.DKC4 Fan Made Game When I Watched It A Short While Ago .
I have no words, everything from the new textures to the music, but also the level design, the new mechanics (DK uppercut, owning the 4 kongs at the same time) EVERYTHING is well thought and this totally deserves to be called DKC4 to my eyes ! Lots of respect for actually pulling this out and giving life to a mere idea I've had a couple years ago ^^
Will the full version of this game ever release? I don't mean to sound impatient, but I've been following this project since 2012 and still nothing regarding that.
