1/4/24 I have a checkpoint on the other video but i wanted to put one here since the space was available lol. In short, if i don't fail horifically suddenly, i will be graduating college. Honestly, it doesn't feel real especially when i look back at my first comment on that video I was apparently really stressed out about a test (about the future even) sophomore year. But I'm still here. And im about to finally leave school. This isnt the same check point that I started in but its a checkpoint all the same. And checkpoints mean you can always start again. Remember that. Nothing is ever over until you finally turn your game off.

David Wise has said he originally wrote this for an additional water level that never materialized. I always associate this song with water because of this. I think of just floating calmly and peacefully on the waves. The instrumentation on this version is gorgeous.

Honestly, I like how they ended up using the song. It fit the bramble levels perfectly. They were beautiful with vibrant colors and setting, serene at times, and busy and chaotic at others. They'll always be my best memories from DK2; masterpieces of gameplay and music.

checkpoint: just finished highschool after years of repeating it. i had a lot of mental issues that i had to deal with, and it came in full swing during the pandemic. i nearly offed myself multiple times, but i got through it. my family has been very supportive all the way, and i'm just really grateful they're here. my grandma recently beat covid after needing to be hospitalized. im glad she's still with us, she's been my number one supporter for as long as i can remember. i turn 20 in 24 days, january 30th. maybe this time, it'll be better. it WILL be better. hopefully i can get a job or go to college so i can support my family. i never say goodbye under the assumption that we'll meet again. see you later. game saved.

It's only F#2 in sopranino. it's quite easy to play, but why he played sopranino? It's only B2 in Soprano. Sopranino is maybe most difficult sax to play in tune. If the same note was played by a soprano, it would be much easier and would even sound more characterful. I don't know. Maybe that sopranino sounds more original.

Stickerbush Symphony is a piece that always brings a tear to my eye. I never played DKC2, but... the feeling that the piece carries makes me feel nostalgic and lonesome. Like I'm so far away from everything and everyone, stranded in the ocean on a clear, starry night, with the ocean reflecting the sky. The best way to describe it is a beautiful loneliness. You know that the pain and emptiness won't last forever, but while you gaze into that dark star lit sky, your soul feels an ache that it kind of just... accepts. And you drop your guard and let whatever sadness you've bottled up out. That's what this piece does for me.

You should give it a shot! The song from this level is brutally difficult but the music makes it feel okay. I have so many memories of playing this level with sweaty palms and a high heartbeat but ultimately being relaxed by the music.

I'm a big fan of David Wise and all of his work. Stickerbush Symphony is my favourite of his entire career and so I've listened to a lot of different versions by different artists. I can say without any doubt that your version is by far the best of them all, you not only recreate perfectly the essence of the original song, but you also improve the feeling that comes from it. Very grateful for being able to listen to your version, congratulations for your work.

This is my favorite video game melody. I've heard it played live at conventions by bands, listened to dozens of renditions, heard it on the original SNES via box TV and variously emulated... but this is possibly the most creative version I've ever heard. This is much needed. Lost my job of just over 6 years last week, 3 days before my birthday. I'm at a rocky point in a career field that I've given nearly a quarter of my life to. I do bear at least some blame for losing my job, but some things are easier to handle than others, and military life stays with you like a scar you just can't get rid of. Here's hoping things will turn around and for the better sooner, rather than later. We all live to learn, and sometimes the lessons of life hit harder than we expect. But, you can either quit, or pick yourself up and be better off for it.

I love how you quantized the video for the synth bass to go along with it being intended as a sequenced track. It gives it a very pose-to-pose Nox animated vibe. Watching the knobs tick around is also cool. The doubling of guitar, harp, and banjo to get the sort of Dulcimer sound is inspired. The blending of strings and winds was handled so well. You got that really big soundscape color down _so_ perfect that I stopped noticing it until the strings were focused on again toward the end. I was like "hmm, I wonder how he got that larger sound with only three strings - multitrack, perhaps," and then I saw the Winds and I was like :o

Wow. This is the best sticklerbush cover I've ever heard. So much detail preserved from the original. Other times, a cover that's more experimental, or genre bending is great, but I like the choice to just do the best sticklerbush symphony as possible with no catch.
