I also did.had to hear this beautiful song by the great donna summer .the performance is magnificent and her voice just beyond words rip ms donna summer😊
I did! Love love love her! The soundtrack to my life, and this song was a revelation, as were her paintings, and learning that she wrote so many of her hits. She truly is the queen of everything!
Before Whitney, Celine and Mariah there was Donna. A woman that was so underrated as a vocalist. She had the power of Whitney and Celine and the Angel voice of Mariah. RIP you will always be number 1 in my life.
She wasn’t underrated. She was and will always be a superstar. She made music and had hits in every decade until she passed, that’s not underrated. #legndary #icon #originaldiva
Man...this song. What a poignant way to end the documentary. But why wasn't this available on the accompanying live album release? Donna's vocals are absolutely amazing here. This could've been a huge hit for her. Love you, Queen. We've never forgotten how powerful your vocals were.
The CD version of the VH1 show has just 11 live tracks of the 16 on the DVD .... but, somewhat bizarrely, there are also 2 studio tracks ... the DVD has 16 tracks on it (excluding intro and end credits) ... This wonderful song is on the DVD and not on the CD ... which is a pity. The 2 sudio tracks on the CD are "ok" [the 2nd one - I Will Go with You (Con Te Partiró) is the better one, the 1st one - Love is the Healer less so] The whole show from the DVD would actually have fitted easily onto a single CD. The DVD is well worth tracking down as it appears to be the only source for this fabulous track. I dug out the DVD this morning from my collection to play tonight having just watched the documentary on Sky TV last night - great documentary with this track as a very poigniant ending ... What a fitting ending for her documentary. It seems Donna really had her legacy in mind when she chose projects. So many gems to remind us who she was and how much she appreciates her fans.
Disco opened a closed door to her voice. 🫶🏽🤎Donna said in an interview" if she knew ooing, ahhing would've gained her worldwide recognition she would've done it long ago" lol😂she definitely was more than that...all genres across the board with that instrument in her mouth 🎼
Wherever you are Donna, there will be music there! Rest In Honored Glory, my eternal Disco Queen! May your voice ring eternally with the Heavenly Hosts! 😢
Such a huge and emotional delivery on stage. Her voice was huge, and so was her beauty and stage presence. Donna Summer had it all, she was a REAL SUPERSTAR.
You know your listening to a superstar .. When you hear their voice and it stops you dead in your tracks .. Clearly a brilliant singer such a stunning beautiful woman a heart tugging voice an angel called home too soon 😢We lost a part of our youth when we lost her 😞😞😞
I couldn't agree more! I don't know of anyone who isn't extremely and emotionally moved by If There Is Music There. Moved so much by Donna's incredibly beautiful and legendary voice, her stage presence, her delivery of one of the greatest songs she has ever put pen to paper, a song delivered with such passion and heart wrenching lyrics and vocals that no other voice can compare to.. A voice that has even the not so loyal Donna Summer fan can't help but to have tear filled eyes and even tears streaming down their/our cheeks by the end of the song where Donna sings, "I loved you, I really did love you..but I'm afraid I have to go my dear." I'm sorry, I loved you, I really did and as she turns to go, just like the many thousands of people watching her on the highest rated Special in the history of VH-1 or just listening to her sing it while in the car or at home, seeing her wipe the authentic and very real tears from hers eyes while we all dry our eyes or begin almost sobbing as I have many times while watching her sing it live in concert or at home alone, by the end of the song I'm almost sobbing every time.
I only discovered this song and her performance of it after Donna had already passed. So when I first heard the lyrics and especially the ending, I totally choked up with tears. This is my favorite song of hers now, and I have a lot of faves of hers!
One of the very best ever live vocals I've ever heard...in my life...she's simply incredible..I love her ...Donna summer will always be with us...❤️🎤 Melanie 32 xx
@@asoberprep I am not technically trained in music, but I listen to enough of it to know a little 😆 And Donna's performance here absolutely knocks it out of the park, and the song itself is perfect, the lyrics and melody match beautifully. This really is the ultimate performance of her lifetime, and I think she knew it.
@@cmjcj2ktn the craziest thing and I still haven't looked into it is she knew she was dying at this performance and it was from 9/11 dust what she was doing there I have no idea but she died from it just like all those firemen and everyone else
This voice, this emotions, this feeling, this power, one of the best Live performers ever, the one and only Donna Summer, unforgettable with that beautiful and amazing voice. Listen to her is to feel magic.
This is the second time i have heard this BEAUTIFUL song. The first time i heard this was on the HBO special. I am 63 and have never heard this sung so BEAUTIFULLY 🩷🩷🩷 I think i LOVE her voice now more than ever. RIP QUEEN. No one can ever hurt you now.
What a beautiful but sad song. The songs lyrics are so telling of her life past, present and future. So when the Angels came Donna had to follow the music. It's hard to listen to without crying. I miss my American Iconic Idol who left this world way too soon❣🙏🏻🎤🎼 😭
THAT is perhaps the most meaningful, pathos-filled and lyrical song ever sung by legendary Donna! Her classical vocal training in the US and in Germany had paid off substantially and I can only regret that during her illustrious career, Donna has never recorded more songs of this vein. Never mind. She was the Queen. She is the Queen. Long live the Queen & RIP.
I never heard this song until I heard her sing this on the documentary a couple of nights ago. omg I'm obsessed with it and donna summer singing it and yall are so right, she was first of all- nor a drug addiction, came before Whitney, Michael Jackson, was not an addict, was a great singer!!!!!!!!
I miss Her so much and Her voice was everything and She will always be one of My favorite Preformers and Her Music was always a big part of My life and always will be 😢
Donna is my true American Idol. She had such a strong, and powerful voice. So many amazing songs besides the obvious hits. This song always makes me cry. The words are so fitting. I was crushed the day Donna passed. I'm honored I got to see her last tour in Atlantic City. Fan for life❣🙏🏻
I remember the year 2018. My faithful warrior, my male cat had to be put to eternal sleep. He slept beside me final night. I didn't sleep for a second. I made a beatiful grave for him under a tree in a countryhouse. He was something special for me!
No electronic trickery, no taking off of any clothes, not even choreography. This is pure talent. RIP Donna. And thank you for sharing your beautiful gift with us while you were here. ♥
Mimi's Song has attached itself to me. It was beautifully writtened and beautifully performed. The first 4:11 time I hear it in Donna's documentary, I can't stop listening to it. We lost her far too soon.
I must admit that I didn't pay much attention to Donna Summer during the 70's. I was graduating from University, starting a career, getting married and starting a family during that time so I guess I was too busy. I listened to MacArthur Park out of curiosity last night. I didn't even know that she had sung that song. Her voice blew me away. How did I not notice her before this ? Then there is this gem. I've listened to it 5 times in a row. It's so genuine, soulful and so powerfully sung. Even though I didn't know Donna when she was alive, I miss her and regret missing all the music that was there.
Irreparable loss indeed, and regrettable too. Thank you tube for the wonderful uploads , at least a chance to make up the loss.. In memory, good night my Queen !
My favorite ballad ever. Heard it on the documentary. Why don't Brooklyn and Bruce make this song a single . Even posthumously it will resurrect our memories of this angel. RIP Donna.
I agree too loved Donna Summer and her voice this song brings me to tears everytime because she sings it with all of her heart and soul. RIP Donna you are missed tremendously.
As a little kid, I remember hearing a song 🎵 on the radio 📻 🎙 📡 that I liked, BUT I never knew who the artist was. Years later, I learned that the artist who sang the song was Donna Summer, and the song was called "She Works Hard For The Money." In June 1999, I got to see her on VH1 Behind the Music. It aired at 9 pm, and her Live and More Encore aired at 10. This was one of the greatest performances of her special and I was disappointed that it wasn't included on the CD. After both of these programs aired, I purchased the "Live and More Encore" CD 💿 days later. I bought her greatest hits CD 💿 called "The Journey: The Very Best of Donna Summer" in 2003 and her book 📖 "Ordinary Girl" is an excellent read from start to finish. When she passed away in 2012, I was heartbroken 💔. Her legacy lives on through the music and the lives she touched with it.
Absolutely incredible and flawless. This made me cry when this aired back in 1999. I was so mad when the live cd came out and it wasn’t included. Another amazing voice gone too soon. Thank you Donna wherever you are for sharing your beautiful voice.
Her ballads are amazing. Can’t we just sit down and talk it over. On my honor I will try There will always be a you. I do believe I fell in love. Another place in time Just to name a few
Donna Summer is 1 of the greatest vocalists 2 ever grace the stage n so many never took the time see her n concert. There's no way anyone could see her perform live n not fall n love with her amazing voice n stage presence. She just made it look so effortless. I'm thankful I got 2 see her so many times throughout my life. It's those moments n memories I cherish 4 the rest of my life. Needless 2 say I miss her so much bcuz she brought me so much joy n laughter. It warms my heart that so many ppl feel the same way
Too The Queen. I was lucky enough to take my late wife too see you. You were never given the full respect you deserved. Your voice, simply magical. But your song writing skills are so over looked. I don’t think many of your fans knew. That you were writing these beautiful songs. I want to Thank You, for sharing your gift with us. May God Bless your Soul, now and forever. Amen ❤️🙏🦋
Yes, there is music in heaven. You are received by God’s love and singing with the angels now. You will forever be in our hearts and thank you for blessing us with your phenomenal voice and talent Donna. Rest in Jesus.

Oh wow...this is STUNNING. i cant imagine hearing that voice live. unbelieveable true talent given by God and shared so beautifully by Miss Summer. her voice just sends me, RIP MISS SUMMER!! one in a million and you are missed and still loved!! ❤💜💚♥
Man I'm so sorry u missed seeing Donna Summer live n concert bc she always brought the house dwn during her shows she'd bookend her shows wit her radio hits but the numbers n the middle of the shows were always just like this n when thru her arms out n lean head back she'd bring tears 2 ur eyes it was always a transcendent moment just like what she did wit this song n it's a shame they didn't include the ballads on the cd but only on the DVD n it's edited dwn imo no other female singers can crush what Donna did she's 1 n a 1.000.000 n I miss her so much
She had so much to give, but in the ellegant way of so many singers behind her, she chose just to give meaning to the words... in spite of the many fireworks she could have shared with us. I love her ellegant way of singing, but I so wish that she let all the power and subtlety she had somehow would have been shown. She's one of the greatest singers we've had the pleasure of listening and feeling. She will live forever.
She was in a class FEW singers MALE OR FEMALE have ever REACHED !! The audience was SPELLBOUND listening and watching her ; an INCREDIBLE performance by an INCOMPARABLE performer !!
