I always wanted him to take the game a "little bit" more seriously ngl, I found it kinda irritating when he goes all "Hi bud, bye bud". I understand that it gets awkward when others are around and I now find it a little funny. But I am dying of awkwardness, goodness, I cannot watch the video
@@sherwinashford eh, but that is his style! He not only does it with Doom, but he is also joking while playing other games, especially action games. Besides, Doom Eternal is not a serious game, and Mark has decent skills on the game (they are definitely not amazing, but he plays way better than a game journalist). If he was joking like this and was absolutely bad, then I would find it annoying.
@@mitchellbarton7915 im almost wondering if mark was supposed to show this particular portion of the game from the way hugo worded that XD. i dont care tbh im happy to see the marauder in action.
@@Ace-qn4ub I'm sure if he wasnt supposed to be playing that portion they would either stop him from playing it or just tell him not to put the footage of it in his video
DogHog YT I know I’m just kidding. Just surprised at how much he was allowed to show. The Archvile looks just as threatening as I remember. Really hyped for this game and its so hard trying to avoid more gameplay.
Why? Your house would probably be embarrassing, I know mine would. I would probably not even answer my door out of laziness. I would most likely hear my fiance drop the dog food and start cursing. I better go haha
Against an enemy that apparently gives a lot of problems to other players. Watching Mark repeatedly destroy the Marauder in his ongoing playthough of Doom Eternal feels a lot more satisfying knowing that this happened.
@@ursidae97 4:06 “Hugo thought I was too good and decided to drop me at a point later in the game… I did great.” He doesn’t only play the first level dawg
DI O hilariously, the bfg isn’t going to kill the Marurder in one shot, and sometimes, it’s necessary if you get into a bad spot with some of the really powerful demons.
*Game developers excusing themselves for the slightest reasons/bugs* Mark: *FIST* ''Oh I tried to settle this on peaceful methods I didn't realize this was a violent game.''
(Originally seen on a Zaraki Kenpachi meme!!) lol... Thanxxx for reminding of that pic. I believe it was "IF violence isn't solving all your problems, you simply aren't using enough of it!"
This is actually a well played move on Hugo Martin's part. With such a large audience like Markiplier's, DOOM Eternal just got a ton more eyes on how it looks and plays. I've already preordered it so I'm just waiting to get my hands on it for myself, I can't contain my anticipation. I also can't wait to see Markiplier do a full play through like he did with DOOM (2016). It's always entertaining to watch Mark flailing about in frustration and than finally figuring out what was making it so hard to do in the first place, and than boasting about his newly claimed triumph.
Normaly I would say dont pre order, but at this point they are mostly done and everyone knows what is going on in the game so it has very little risk involved.
I love how at 9:59 the Marauder even when you're doing the glory kill stops your fist and you need to use the blade. The game really makes you feel like the big enemies you're taking down are incredible badasses instead of just pushovers, that way you feel like an even bigger badass yourself.
9:59 I like how the skeletal arm of the Marauder still has enough strength in it to resist the superhuman strength from the tree trunk of an arm from the Doom Slayer himself. The Marauder is one tough mutha
@@alanbrown901 In terms of Doom 2016 and Eternal, Id say hes practically a juiced up demi-god. He was already insanely powerful *before* the seraphim in heaven imbued him with "terrible power and speed". Calling him a god seems a little overboard but, I mean..all of hell and probably heaven are petrified of him so... Edit: listening back on the Slayer testaments, hell speaks of him in the sense that if hell had their own version of hell, the Doomslayer would be its Satan..and its armies all at the same time...
@DankMcStank But what irks me just the _tiniest bit_ is that he has auto shield until you catch him with his eyes glowing green. Another method to force him to do that or just another way to kill him that's harder would be appreciated so that he's not a whack-a-mole enemy.
I remember in an interview with the director about Doom 2016 he mentioned "a RU-vidr with red hair" that started headbanging to the opening of the game, and how that was exactly what they were aiming for. Cool that they did this!
Hugo Martin: "Doom Eternal is a game that will prove itself worth your time to master." Also Hugo: * (Breaks into your house) * "You're going to play Doom Eternal whether you like it or not, it's good for you!"
I really like that the dev was just so open with the... oh it’s a bug... and they don’t need the company to be all protective about it or make them put something like “this is early access footage” this is the kind of thing that gets people to want your game. Be open
Marauders are apparently Doom Slayers from Alternate Universes that’s supposedly we’re corrupted. I on the other hand think they were knight sentinels with the Doom Slayer on the Crusade who got corrupted.
no, it's just a good way to promote a game nowadays, because of youtube and streamers popularity and high count viewer traction. it's just a wise PR move, maybe Markiplier even have got some money for that from ID, but it's totally ok))
I love that the doom team picked Mark for this, they just seem like a genuine company not caring about scamming people into buying their game. But actually wants to show the game off and wants people to buy it because it is good, not because it's popular. Id software is the best gaming company out there, no cap. I also love Hugo, such a nice guy. No homo tho ;)
@@HAWKEYESOLO That's exactly what OP said. That Id is one of those rare exceptions who genuinely seem to just want to put out good games and that's it. Which is, sadly, a rarity these days. At least, outside of the indie scene. But it's a welcome rarity none-the-less!
Mark: I wouldn't say I'm a real gamer. Also Mark: *beats the first two levels of GTFO solo and beats a mid-game level of Doom Eternal on ultra-violence with minimal upgrades and no instruction*
he is a gamer but when he said he isn't a real gamer he meant that he casually doesn't play alot of games anymore which happens to all of us but we'll never abandon such awesome means of entertainment
This was actually a VERY smart move considering Jacksepticeye played as well: Not only are they getting (somewhat) professional gamers to test it out, but they're getting a ton of advertisement out of it as well. They definitely made a very smart choice in who to test the full version, cause they just killed two birds with one stone: *1. Testing the final product; and 2. Self-advertisement.*
I think that's most strategi to advertise a game at this point. Fnaf, baldy's basic's, undertail, and DBH won't be as big as a behemoth they are today if it weren't for the youtubers that played them. Low cost in advertising and we as a viewer, get content from our respective favorite creations.
I love how casual this whole thing is: Mark: “That’s a great intro by the way” Hugo: “Thank you” Mark: “Is that final, final?” Hugo: “Uh yeah” If Hugo was at my place letting me play Doom: Eternal early I’d be super excited and just yelling out in excitement while playing the game lol
Marauder: “Hahaha, fool! I know all your tricks, I mimic your moves you cannot stop m-“ *Doomguy runs up to him and fires the BFG point blank in his face* Mark: “Yeah! I got ‘im!” Hugo: “...he was the hardest character we designed.”
See, the Fist "bug" is one I personally would like to actually remain in. Is it useful? No. Would it cause the player to be far to powerful? Probably not. Is it hilarious? Hell yeah, pun fully intended.
they should make that bug become a thumbs up glitch XD like instead of the fist. if you manage to stay alive like that for over a minute. DOOMSLAYER actualy turns it into a thumbs up
Slightly awkward though. They should've known that Mark is a bro. I don't know why they're trying to be too polite to the point where it seems disingenuous and contrived.
@@thehydromaniac8868 you're over reading the sitch man. As a Texan, that's more like a " Yes Sirree Bob" kinda "Sir", because he calls him "dude" and "man" sometimes.
@@thehydromaniac8868 Like Dooby said, you're reading too into it. There was agenda the guy was pushing. Not "faking nice". It was just a simple "sir". Fucking hell.
@@ManWithAMask_ don't worry about them, they're the kind of people that sit on youtube telling people how to be social but are incapable of going outside and reading any social cues
7:14 *Doom does the fist bug* Bethesda: This is a new "feature" EA: I don't know what this is, just give us $$$ for it Id: Yep, that's a bug, we need to fix that
@@drmeduimant5066 dude they are supporting themselves with "OUR" money. If they keep us, the community happy then we consumers buy more of their products. If they make us unhappy then we just wish the worst for them. This is something that CDPR, Paramount, Ubisoft(maybe) and even id software knows but something that EA and Bethesda has yet to learn.
You know, I just realised... in the trailer, when the Marauder says "You are nothing but a usurper - a false idol", he's speaking directly to all the people who suck at this game.
This is Great way of advertising your game. Thanks ID for showing developers that youtubers are here to help spread word and not just something too copyright strike.
Lets all be honest, when Hugo said "Mark actually did a good job for someone who has no idea what's happening" he was 100% right, let Dean Takahashi put that in his pipe and smoke it.
Hugo's reaction also makes me realize that devs dislike seeing bugs just as much, if not more, than we do in their games. It also reminds me that they're just guys and gals and can't possibly collectively wish dismay upon us as much as we'd like to think.
I always appreciate how genuine Mark is: he is often genuinely "faking" his confidence. It helps bolster him, while serving to the rest of us that he knows he is only human. It's a great balance that makes his content fun, and a challenging (but rewarding) game pushes him to his peak form. (edit: he is best boi.)
he is really genuine, but something feels off about the video for some reason, like it was more forced and was more about money then about providing good content just my opinion tho
You know youve made it when the Devs go to your house to watch you play their game They Literally sat here for probably 3 hours listening to Mark Rage at their game
Mark is a big fan of Doom since the first and classic games. I'm sure he will do a full playthrough, although a bit spoiled after being barged into his own home and enslaved by Hugo in this vid.
