Doom Eternal - Why The Seraphim Blessed The Doom Slayer And Betrayed Heaven

i don't think the seraphim or the doomslayer betrayed heaven, more like tried to stay true to the original heavenly order as the Khan Makyr became corrupted.

Seriously though,why are people not talking about the story of this beautiful masterpiece,this story is now cannon and also much deeper than ever before

"Take it, it will give you strength, help you on your journey." Those are the exact words that Samuel Hayden says to the slayer in Doom 2016 when you get the first argent cell. This makes me think the Seraphim an Hayden are the same person.

And some people say Doom Eternal's story is bad and has no lore xD

When I found out in game what argent energy is made from it all made sense to me why Doom guy just destroyed everything that had to do with argent energy in Doom (2016)

Did anyone else notice in the beginning of the cutscene when you interrupt the khan maykrs ritual to resurrect the icon of sin by destroying the betrayers sons heart, when doom slayer first enters the area, the door he goes through says "Welcome, seraphim"?

I hope Samuel Hayden being Samur the Maykr is true and gets expanded on in future DLC. For a game about a dude ripping demons to shreds with a chainsaw the lore is pretty deep.

Samuel Hayden being The Seraphim makes perfect sense, it would explain why he knew so much about Urdak and even Hell’s deepest secrets like Nekravol. It would also explain why he was so keen and obsessive over the Doom Slayer’s tomb in DOOM (2016) and why he wants to help the people of earth free themselves.

In the end, Samuel Hayden was a good guy but I didn't know that since the ending scene of Doom 2016. Samuel gave the Doomguy powerful battle abilities through his seal process and it was God's skill to stop the wicked horde's earth invasion. If the Doomguy hadn't gotten the process of seal over 100 years, he couldn't have defeated a brutal demon army's invasion to earth. Samuel Hayden was the hidden supporter of the seraphim group.

*Okay, im REALLY confused with the Seraphim and the Khan Makyr, because are they really Angels or Aliens wearing angelic armor?* Especially when they showed the Khan Makyr's face before she died.

This is a copy-paste comment I made from another similar lore video, but I'd like to share it: (sorry for the long comment, hope you read it Midnight :) ) Ok, so here is my theory. (some adjustments can be made to correct the mistakes, of course) Hayden is the Seraphim. He used the divinity machine to transfer the divine powers of the Father to the Doom Slayer because he knew the current Khan Maykr was corrupted by the power of Argent energy and would never stop taking over new civilisations for the production of more Argent energy. Due to the fact that each Khan Maykr has the divine right to rule for 10 000 years, he and the Father could do nothing to stop her. He left Urdak with the essence that was left of the Father when the betrayal happened and the Slayer was trapped in a sarcophagus in Hell, in order to find a way to free him. Samur Maykr either pretended to be a human named Samuel Hayden or he waited for him to actually die from brain cancer and use the opportunity to create a new body for himself, that the Khan Maykr would never recognise. He used his position in the UAC to start the Argent energy project and expeditions to Hell, whilst simultaneously creating VEGA out of what was left of the Father's essence (probably something happened to him when his power was transferred to the Slayer and that's why VEGA had no memories of the past), using the advanced technology of the UAC and the Argent energy found in Hell. Hayden managed to finally rescue the Slayer and transport his sarcophagus back, but the UAC was already infiltrated through Deag Ranak, who was the one that made contact with Olivia Pierce and tasked her to start the process of preparing Earth for its' consumption by Hell. And we all know what happens next - the Slayer gets awaken by Hayden and starts to wreck the demonic hordes. I'm guessing the voice when the Khan Maykr died was that of Satan or the Nameless one, who probably used the corruption of Argent energy to warp the mindset of the Maykrs for his own goals - becoming the ruler of all existence. And since the other omnipotent beings in the Wraiths were already corrupted, only Urdak was left in his way. But now I think with the Father being back, maybe Hayden becomes the new Khan Maykr and the next game will be the final assault on Hell and it's almighty ruler - Satan, Lucifer, Nameless One, whatever his actual name is. In my mind, the trio of VEGA, the Doom Slayer and Samuel Hayden is very similar to the biblical Holy Trinity - the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Father is the Creator, the Holy Spirit bestowed the Son with divine powers and the Son was the messenger in human form, who was ready to sacrifice himself for the sins of humanity. You can see how extremely similar the stories are lol. I'd also love to see more debate on the 3 angelic figures we saw back in the maps of Doom 2016 and then from the concept art that iD Software released - one of them was more like a demon and was holding the Crucible from Hell, but still had wings and you can see him on the walls of the Fortress of Doom. Another one looked like the Maykr angels and the last one could be a non-corrupted version of the Wraiths, though I'm not sure on that. This whole story is amazing and I love putting my imagination to work on it hahaha.

Sam hayden is 100% the seraphim. Same voice actor, plus for someone who was once human, referring to humans as “your people” when talking to doomguy seems waaaaaay too suspect.

So essentially the Khan makyr ceased the intended circle of life and decided to ruin other worlds instead to continue powering theirs so the makyrs could be truly immortal. Classic fear of death caused all of doom?

I noticed the seraphim sounded very similar to Hayden on my first play through. so here's my theory. The Seraphim fled from the Khan Makyr after empowering Doom guy to become the Slayer, going into self imposed Exile and hiding his mind in that of a machine. Assuming the identity of Samuel Hayden after the real Hayden's failure to cheat death and transfer his consciousness (side note SH was a real human whose life could be traced back to his birth in the Hayden family). he continued on filling Haydens shoes but while harnessing argent energy somehow learned that the demons had trapped the Doom Slayer. So he began sending out exploration teams to free the Slayer under the guise of trying to study argent energy further. Then Doom 2016 and Eternal take over from there. two biggest supports I have for this theory is Vega (spoilers) who Hayden "created" and when the Doom Slayer was retrieving him from the ARC facility one of the scientist said the Machinery was far beyond any of them to try and transfer him to a new body. what are your thoughts?

I just got the game Saturday and while I'm struggling with the combat a little (because I'm a shit FPS player generally), I'm still really enjoying the game and am surprised to find how much I really like the lore and backstory! They really pulled out all the stops for this!

The one problem I have with the Seraphim going against the Khan Maykr is that according to the lore, Maykrs are unable to defy the will of the Khan Maykr, so how was the Seraphim able to go against the Khan Maykr and give the Argentians a fighting chance?

Ok something I just recalled is that when you plug Vega into the portal machine(forgot what it was called) in Durak he asks Hayden if that means if he’s the father. Now someone below pointed out a theory that the seraphim and Samuel Hayden are the same person due to how his technology is alien. Someone also pointed out that the seraphim saved the father onto a chip (or something similar) and used it to create Vega so it makes a lot more sense especially with how Hayden seems to understand the slayer so well although that could just be from watching him go through the UAC outpost on mars but it seems a little much for just that

he didnt really betrayed heaven, because the "heaven" got corrupted because of the deal with hell, so the "heaven" have become an unholy Spiritual World, it became a part of hell

You forget that the reason Urdak as forced to rely on Argent energy in the first place was because of the disappearance of the Father. Which means that it was Samur Makyr who was ultimately responsible for Urdak's deal with Hell, since he was the one who stole the Father.

It makes sense but seems unlikely that the seraphim is Samuel given their similarities. While Samuel is a human, the seraphim is a maykr. If the seraphim can do some bullshit like change his appearance, maybe he is Samuel. There is also the off chance that samuel is the result of the seraphim and Samuel Hayden fusing

I think the Doom Slayer plays the same role in the Doom universe/multiverse that Neo played in the Matrix universe. The Slayer is an anomaly that is introduced to the universe to "course correct". The Khan wanted to change the natural order of things, but the universe (maybe even The Father) produced the Slayer as a preventative measure to keep the universe from unraveling. It's just the system protecting itself.

So Samuel Hayden knew about the Hell Portal on Mars and where to find the Slayer's sarcophagus within it, as detailed in Doom (2016), and those expeditions he led. Hayden remarks that all of this could've been avoided with different leadership ... he knew the Slayer would return for the Crucible, using Vega to guide him, recover his 'body' and ... is Samuel Hayden the real mastermind trying to restructure Heaven's government and solve a multiversal energy crisis? (Did I go too deep?)

and here comes the biggest stupidity of this game, VEGA is the father, the one being on top, vega, the ai, the software, THE BEING THAT HAYDEN HAD NO QUALMS OF SACRIFICING IN DOOM 2016 .. he had no qualms of sacrificing to just OPEN A PORTAL and the only reason vega exist is because the slayer seen him as an innocent in the entire thing, an innocent who didn't wanna "die" but knew he had to in order to stop hell and the doomslayer just took a backup in a usb. Doom Eternal has a lot of stupid in it, like the reasons you are going where you are and why you cant go to other places but THIS takes the cake...

You know what would have been cool? If each slayer skin had its own special ability like the demonic slayer could be immune to fire or lava damage or the zonbie slayer automatically comes with 1 extra life.

The khan makyr was becoming corrupt so in reality, the khan makyr betrayed heaven, not doom slayer and seraphim as they are vowed to the original heavenly oath. (According to another comment I seen)

This is why I think that The Samuel Hayden and the seraphim are one in the same. Hayden knows basically everything about everyone in the doom universe and he also has the same voice as the seraphim. When the doom slayer enters the room in urdak where the khan maykr is doing the ritual on the icon of sin a voice, I assume an AI, said welcome seraphim. Later on when you put Vega into the machine he starts speaking as normal before asking dr Hayden if he, Vega, is the father. This makes a lot of sense when you remember that Vega was the AI ‘made by Hayden’ for the UAC facility on mars. When you retrieve Hayden’s body from the arc complex the scientist says that his body is ‘alien’ technology even though in Doom (2016) it’s said that he built that robotic body after his biological one failed him. I assume he, the seraphim, built that robotic body so he could ‘fit in’ on earth and begin his project on mars with the UAC in hopes of finding the slayer and bringing an end to the corrupt khan maykr who had brought an imbalance to the universe by aiding hell.

I get the logic behind Samuel Hayden being the seraphim, but if Vega was the Father, who was the mysterious voice mourning the death of the Khan Maykr?

Ironically, the Khan Maykr is more demonic than all the demons from the actual hell. When she dies, she has that look of a demon, but still talks bullshit like "sacrificing for a greater good" but its all for to appease her own agenda.

There's no doubt that Samuel Hayden is the Seraphim. Remember when you first reach Urdak and he starts telling Doomguy about that place like he's been there already but if he was in fact only ever human then there's no way he could've seen Urdak before. I smell a sequel coming up down the road!

I don't like that they explained Doomguy's power like this, that most of his strength was merely granted to him by someone else, not that he earned it simply by being the angriest badass in the universe. I would have been fine if his power was merely the result of spending so much time killing demons that he just gradually became godlike.
