Oh, this was interesting. I had Phil, Jay then Dorian. Phil needs more recognition for his back, it's incredible.

More & more I find myself looking forward to these daily comparisons. Often times seeing the RU-vid notification saying Marx Max has uploaded a video NOW, is actually the high point of my day. So THANK YOU Marx Max Muscle for brightening my day with your faulty videos and famous body builder, Simpsons & other😅 impressions single handedly turning me into an fanboy of the sport.

I like Phil the best.

Never been a big fan of Phil’s but he won the majority of these poses. Jay and Dorian had a better front relaxed and front double bi imo (largely due to their width and Phil’s abdominals) but Phil either clearly won or edged them out on the remaining poses.

Phil is just on another level.

In todays standard, Phil wins hands down. Back then, Dorian was considered the greatest because he was the first to being that level of mass and conditioning.

Jay is the GOAT in my honest opinion. I don’t care what people are saying and everything. He’s been doing so much for BB and absolutely a beast.

In THESE particular still pictures i have to give it to Phil. Just has everything. Size, aesthetics, condition and that 3d pop and roundness to the muscle.

Photo Comparison is different if it would be live these guys in Same "stage" Era Jay could be winning by huge size n wide frame, it could be the result, bcoz Dexter was a full of Ripped n nailed with his condition although he was looking smaller than Jay on 2008 so he lost the match 😅

The way i see it, jay wins the fdb, and probably on par with phil for the sc, then it's just dorian and phil battling it out for the rest. Although yates never had the thickest pecs, he did have a massive ribcage, and i do like the way he strikes the sc.. just like the golden era guys, with the chest held high and ribcage fully expanded👊

Dorians thighs and arms are really undersized in several shots. His legs disappear from the back, the side, the front, and his arms only look impressive in the Side tricep. Everytime I see a comparison with yates, commenters just give the guy a free pass on leg size. Dorians thighs look like Brandon curry’s from the back.

Considering all three men were 5'9", it really is striking how different each competitor is on structure. Phil's arms are ridiculous. I think they're better than even Ronnie....

Jay 09 is so overrated, 01 is the best

Even though Phil has that bubble muscle and thin skin, where is the detail? Dorian photos are on 30 year old cameras, yet he looks drier and more detailed than either of the other two. Just look at his lower back in the back double. Phil has separation due to his shape, but his low back is smooth as a baby's bottom. Jay has no lower lats or Christmas tree at all, looking like recent Big Ramy. I just don't think anyone comes in condition like they did in the 90s, it's gotta be the substances they use that cause them to hold more water. The style of posing doesn't help Dorian in these comparisons, either. Dorian poses more like the Golden Era than people today. Phil is clearly the most complete and balanced here, Jay is the biggest, and Dorian is the most conditioned-appearing.

To be honest Dorian is not winning even a single shot. Dorian is looking like amature as compare to Jay and Phil. His arms, chest and legs are underdeveloped as compare to Phil and Jay and even back looking in complete if you compare with Phil heath.

I don't understand how Dorian could be considered one of the greatest, let alone the 2nd-greatest. He had a couple of good poses but the rest were very mediocre and had weak parts.

Other than front lat Phil won by far. Just amazing.

One thing I noticed was how shredded Yates was. His look is completely different than then others. They look round but not as thin skinned.

Yates won with torn triceps and biceps. 3 weeks without Training. Unbelievable. He was still very far ahead of the competition in 97. Never again was there a more dominant Bodybuilder.

If Dorian had superior lighting, today's HD photo clarity AND a black background, then it would've been showcasing just how ridiculously peeled and dry he was. Other than his Quads, he had striations in every upperbody muscle on him. Dorian would win the following: FRONT LAT SPREAD SIDE TRICEPS REAR LAT SPREAD (if he used today's feet placement and bent knees outward) REAR DOUBLE BICEPS (again with feet placement and outer knee bend. & ABDOMINAL & THIGH For the young fans who were born after 1990, Dorian completely set the bench mark for both size and conditioning. He's known as the one who ushered in the MASS MONSTER era, while being sliced to the bone. The ONLY IFBB Pro Bodybuilder who was equally, or more, shredded than Dorian at that time was the late Andreas Můnzer (RIP 🙏🏽🕊) That was it! He should without any debate be 100% considered one of the Best Mr. Olympia Champions (Easy Top 3)

Dorian put those guys on his pocket. Heath it's another guy to be considered but the gut sometimes got too much. I also consider Dorian better than Ronnie, but the best would be that 70s Arnold.

Dorian should win the back lat spread. Not withstanding how amazing his back is overall, even with the grainy photo you can tell that his conditioning in the flesh would be razor sharp and make him stand out. his back detail is incredible.

I'd put Jay in a distant 3rd spot here. Even with all these comparisons I never really found enough confidence to put either Phil or Dorian as the nr.2 guy...they would be absolutely trading blows in real life and flip flop between wins and losses depending on the judges taste and mood at the time of the day. Incredibly close between those two.

No-one has Phil's round quality muscle, but he's so narrow compared to Jay especially! Phil looks so bad in the standing "relaxed" pose at 0:19, and I even have Jay winning the front double biceps and lat spread against Phi, although Dorian could be beating them both. Dorian in 1993 may be overall the most impressive Mr Olympia ever? His conditioning was insane!

Phil dominates. Idk how you think Dorian wins either of the back poses, the side tricep, or even the abs and thigh with such small and washed out quads. The only pose Dorian takes is the front lat, he’s getting bullied in every other pose

Dorian hands down. You cannot judge by these photos from 1993! The resolution of cameras and videos from 1990s were no where near the image resolution today. That's why all of those who competed with Dorian on stage or saw him live know that his conditioning and mass quality was out of this world for the time! Also we need to consider nutrition, suplements and drugs used in the 1990s were so minimal compared to today's bodybuilders (which makes them look fluffy)!

Jay Cutler doing Phil Heath dirty like that in almost every pose. That was weird. I'm Gen X and Phil Heath was my favorite. Now I'm confused.

Whoever looks best is whoever is closer to the camera when the pics were taken. Go look at each one, you'll notice it once you look for it. Standing side by side Dorian is bigger than both, with the thin skin of Phil. He loses the back double to Phil in real life, but the front lat spread more than makes up for it, and keep in mind Phil is again closest to camera with Dorian being further there. Go look how big Dorian looks in the side tricep because he is the closest by just a little bit! Jay exposed Phil for his frame and it was Phil's detail and roundness that made up the edge. Dorian has the best balance of overall traits here. Biggest frame, detail and thin skin of Phil. All Phil has is arms and back over Dorian. Legs are actually close looking at the pics.. In real life it would be Dorian vs Phil and it could go either way. I think Dorian's frame and thin skin and conditioning is too strong of a combo though side by side.
