DOStlevania Cave Skip on Stage 4 IS Possible!

Hey everyone, LoZCardsfan2223 here and we have discovered that Cave Skip is possible in Stage 4 in DOStlevania, much like it is in NES Castlevania!
A huge special thanks to Charlie9631 for discovering that this trick was possible with the help of using the stopwatch. I looked into seeing about doing this trick without the stopwatch and yes, you CAN pull it off. The bat boost to make it onto the ceiling is very similar to what you do with the Stage 1 Bat Boost.
Charlie9631 and I have figured out how the manipulation works to make this trick work. It's really tough, but with a lot of practice, we've become more consistent at the Cave Skip.
When you're on the ceiling, the bats will still spawn and you cannot see them, so you must be ready to throw a cross or whip the bats, otherwise you will get knocked back without even seeing what hit you! If you get knocked back, forget about making that final moving platform. If you do everything correctly, you CAN make the final platform without having to stop and wait for it. All told, this trick saves about 9 seconds and brings 13:1x into the equation.
After I pulled off the Cave Skip trick, I continued the stage just for fun to see how the RNG would roll. Turns out, I got about as good of luck on Stage 4 as you will see with a perfect eagle and fleamen pattern and a fast Frankenstein fight!
Anyway, if you think you can figure out the consistent method to making the Cave Skip trick work more often than not, than I say "Good luck! You'll need it!"

Amazing find. Perhaps something can be done to make it more consistent to get to, but very interesting to see DOStlevania have a similar skip as the NES game.

Charlie and I actually have figured it out. The first bat, you have a big margin for error on when to whip it, but the second bat, you have to be on a precise pixel and whip it to set up the proper spawn for the third bat, which is the on you boost on. You then have to delay a frame or two and do the same technique as you would the Bat Boost on Stage 1. Mess it up though, and you're taking a bath!

The game sure had a lot of attempts to sabotage the run by putting random drops there, the Holy Water and the Dagger from 2 consecutive bats.

That's DOStlevania for ya! Be prepared to lose runs to random drops, just like any other Castlevania game!

Neat! I'd thought it might be possible but I wasn't quite able to do it after a bunch of tries. That was slightly before I understood the Stage 1 bat boost though. I recently found a small wrong warp in the Amiga version in Stage 6. Skips two sections. It's repeatable but very difficult, and due to how badly that one is programmed, it's unlikely to save time. Kinda wonder if there's something similar for DOS and C64 though. Skipping the Stage 6 Fleaman rooms would be big in DOS at least.

You're giving the Amiga version of Castlevania a shot? I applaud your courage because that version looks and sounds pretty bad. Wish you the best of luck and it's a free World Record at the moment!

Yep! Thanks! My goal is under an hour, which is ambitious. Amigavania is quite possibly the worst designed one. They took the worst parts of DOS (slower movement polling) and C64 (made most of the skips impossible) and then added their own brand of terrible (removed most of the subweapon locations, messed up the hitboxes, added more RNG). Really not sure how they expected anyone to beat it.
