A quick demonstration of how the dovetailed Double Frames can be pulled apart for extraction, storage, etc. These Double Frames are just under the equivalent of two deep Langstroth frames stacked together, and in my opinion are a more elegant solution than zip-tying together two deep frames.
If you are interested, a set of rough plans are available at www.etsy.com/shop/StroutsAbou... along with plans for my old hive and swarm trap. Please be aware that these plans are what I used to make my hive, but may be tricky to follow for beginning woodworkers.

I would love to see the design for the removable hanger bar. I’m interested in incorporating the slim profile of your 2.0 design, but would love to have a removable hanger that could basically make these frames compatible with Langstroth style boxes. I’d like to get an idea of how the removable hanger looks so I can alter it.

I was wondering how badly the bees were going to propolize the seam between the section. The second-year tends to be the year they add even more. I am very interested in your approach. I plan to build a Layens style hive for here in Mass and Maine. Do you have plans to download and build from? Admire what you have accomplished.

Hi Eric thanks for the comment! I too was curious as to how much propolis I would find in the seams and was happy to find I could just use a knife to score along the edge. I do have a set of plans that I have been selling for $15. They do not include any assembly instructions, but they list all of the parts and measurements for the hive and frames. Let me know if you're interested!

David, I just found your channel. I'm still in the process of catching up with your Hive series, but wanted to pass on another RU-vidr's channel for backyard beekeepers. I think you'll find he'll appeal to your since of order just as he does mine. Additionally, he has been beekeeping for many years and enjoys passing on what he has learned to beekeepers. His name is Frederick Dunn and his channel link is; ru-vid.com/show-UCVmPauAlOLKR9QZzFKn-uFw Good luck with everything!! (I love your hive design and especially the sliding dovetail frames! )👏
