YEP - two is always better than one. In this video I review the brand new 2023 EGO dual battery commercial backpack blower. This blower is all beast - I'm talking 800cfm at 190mph with a digital control. I will cover the blowers performance and features, such as its power, battery life, noise level, and ease of use. You'll see the blower in action as we use it to clear leaves, debris, and other yard waste.
One of the standout features of this leaf blower is its dual battery system, which provides longer run times than a single battery. We'll also be discussing its other key features, such as its adjustable speed settings and comfortable backpack design, which make it an attractive option for those with larger yards or commercial landscaping needs.
Whether you're a homeowner or professional landscaper, if you're in the market for a powerful and efficient leaf blower, you won't want to miss this review. So, sit back, relax, and join us as we put the EGO dual battery backpack leaf blower to the test!

I've been in the lawn mowing business for 35 years, but now in my early 60s, with a bad elbow on my rope pulling arm, I have switched all my handheld equipment to battery powered Stihl, except for a blower, which I currently use a Sthil BR 600 gas powered. Lowe's has this EGO backpack blower in stock locally with the 6 AH batteries and charger for $699, and a 30 day full refund, so if I decide to buy it and don't like it in real world use, it'd be easy to take back to the store. Also, the model that comes with 10 Ah batteries lists for $1299.

I purchase this item with the 6 amp batteries since I do have 10 amps already. I really do like it. Especially having a torn rotator cuff. It doesn’t seem to be cheaply made. By the way I am not commercial. Just a regular old guy who enjoys of taking care of his yard.

Suggestion: make a video on proper care of a Ego battery. Charging, winter storing, re-calibrating battery to restore capacity, all in an effort to get the most life out of the expensive batteries.
@Kitearmy
@Kitearmy Год назад
That is a good suggestion - I'm going to do that
@americandude3825
@americandude3825 Год назад
They don’t really require any care. Except: if you live in winter environments, don’t let them sit on charger for six months with no use. Drain them down a little and charge them back up once a month. It’s a rule of thumb for “solar generators” also (made by jackery, ecoflow, etc)

@@americandude3825 Just starting to dive into the electric game.. This was one of the things I was thinking about living in upstate NY.. If I make the jump to the EGO weed eater and blower, I was going to set up a charging station inside one of my cabinets. My question is, in the winter months, would just taking them off the chargers and bringing them inside and storing them on a shelf in the basement suffice, or do you have to drain them down?
@americandude3825
@americandude3825 4 месяца назад
@@mnauerth2466 don’t let them get too cold - like freezing temps. I would not store them, uncharged for a long period. The battery has to have the continued chemical reaction of the charging process to stay working. It extends battery life.

Thank you for this in-depth review. I would like to see the differences in performance between shortened and extended tube configuration as well as a side by side comparison between this unit and the 765CFM... just a thought. I am glade that EGO will also have a 2 x 10.0Ah package for longer runtime; however, I feel EGO could also include a 2 x 12.0Ah package for even longer runtime and for those who already have Z5/Z6 with 12.0Ah batteries as matching spare backup batteries to use at the same time. Thank you again for spending time doing this review.

Good review. Ego does make great products, but I feel like battery power leaf blowers just are not there yet. I have 2 Commercial grade Shindaiwa blowers (from 2014 mind you) that are around 700CFM and 210MPH max speed and it literally blows this out of the water. There is no way that is 800CFM and the 20MPH speed difference with my blower shouldn't be that big of a difference. However, I can literally cut a path about 20 to 30 feet deep by 20 feet wide standing in 1 spot with the level of leaves you have and can blow a brick further than you were blowing those balls. I don't understand how these battery powered blowers are claiming a higher CFM and similar MPH but have a far lower blowing force than a gas powered with lower specs. It doesn't make any sense. The numbers are being exaggerated somewhere. Did I also mention that 9 years later they still run like new and that they were $100 cheaper than the EGO as well. After 1 year of being in the cold and being used commercially I wouldn't be shocked if there was a drastic reduction in run time in the batteries and 1 56V battery cost $349 for a 6ah that is ridiculous! I wouldn't spend that much in gas in 4 to 5 years. Prices need to go way down for this to ever be a viable option.
@Kitearmy
@Kitearmy Год назад
I think you need to test them side by side to really see if there is a difference
@dw5743
@dw5743 Год назад
@@Kitearmy I would love to test them side by side. That would be optimal because sometimes on paper the numbers are not accurate at all, but on paper my blower has quite a bit more blowing force according to the specs. Plus my Shindaiwa blowers are 80cc blowers. I don't think there is any battery powered backpack blowers on the market that is above the equivalent of a 60cc blower. The biggest concern with this blower and others like it, like the stihl is the batteries are to expensive and it is a fact that batteries over time lose capacity. The opposite is true of gas powered blowers they actually get more powerful as they get broken in. My biggest issue isn't the power alone because it has decent power for a battery powered backpack, it is the batteries. As I mentioned 1 battery is $349 for a 6ah battery. It requires 2 of these batteries to run. You would have to have a minimum of 2 sets of these in a commercial setting doing normal lawn care so you always have one set charged. The reason being is on turbo you are only getting 25 minutes of run time. I live in a heavy leaf area in the fall/winter and it would require turbo mode the whole time during cleanups. However, 1 blower with 2 battery backups would be $1400. The blowing force is also 26N for the ego. I could pickup 2 echo pb9010t's for around $1260 from a dealer and the blowing force is 48N. This echo is the most powerful backpack blower on the market. Cleanups would be almost 2 times as fast and I would have 2 blowers for less money and time is money. Once we get to the point that batteries come down a whole lot more I would probably be interested. From a longevity standpoint as well these battery powered blowers have not been proven my shindaiwa and echo products have never let me down. No one is doing extreme temperature tests with these batteries. They need to be tested in really cold climates and really hot climates and see how much it affects the run time.

I will not be buying any more ego backpacks till it comes with an arm on each side with 2 batteries 🔋 🔋 one battery for each arm so I can blow off the sidewalks left side and right side in one swipe like I do with two handhelds ….,but they get heavy on the arms quick ….sometimes I use a handheld 650 and the backpack blower but the backpack never performs as good as the 650 ego. Make this for me EGO and I’ll buy 2 more and don’t slack on the power for cfm…. Thanks 🙏 I have both the 650 and the 765 the 650 blows harder in my opinion more rpm’s. So in other words EGO…..please make me a 2 arm blower you already have the platform just add the arm and battery but make it blow hard like the 650….a few more rpm’s I don’t care about how fast it kills the battery I’m totally solar with my lawn rig and I have plenty of batteries.

And that’s not to say it can’t do it, because I use battery for my property and family with very good results. It has power, but of course gas has a little more kick and lasts longer with the gas.
