Help me understand: fingers posed over your keyboard to send forth into the internet a thought that captures your soul-stirred enthusiasm for the man and you only manage the most banal cliché??? 😂
@@naveed210 So all the books Douglas has researched and written, along with countless articles he’s produced and appearances he’s made which support conservatism are all based upon your theory that Douglas could not possibly make any money from those supporting a liberal agenda? That’s pretty ridiculous. I suppose that Dave Rubin, Dan Wooton and Dr. David Starkey are also cosplaying? How do you explain conservatives embracing a man who is gay? Wouldn’t it just be easier to have heterosexual speakers?
Yes. Murray a snake oil merchant spewing global hate. A man who defends human rights abuse and environmental destruction globally. A Bigot and a hater.
I have been a fan of Douglas Murray for years and dare I say this is his best speech to date?! Well done sir! This is the rallying cry, the call to action that conservatives need to respond to.
His podcast with Jordan Peterson is excellent as he is challenged to go even deeper than he usually goes. It's a joy to listen to highly intelligent people.
Lord Conrad Black, Tom Sowell, Victor Davis Hanson, Mark Stein,Jordan Peterson,Larry Elders, etc all intellectual giant's but i believe Douglas Murray is clearly reaching the same impressive lofty perch upon which these aforementioned men sit, well done sir ,the world needs a thousand more like u,cheers
Come live in Australia for a while please! We need you desperately!! You have no doubt endured the ridiculous "welcome to country" before every ceremony or show or meeting and more. I have developed a habit of arriving late for everything. Since discovering Douglas I am like a starving child just taken into a room full of nourishing food. I can't get enough. Intellectual sustenance.
Thoroughly *corrupt* member of the British upper-class. He has a certain style of vindictive eloquence which draws in people like you. But there isn't all that much there underneath the darkness. Sith Lord, is a very apt description.
@@AminTheMystic 'There isn't all that much underneath the darkness': sounds rather like Amin The Sulking Troll, try not to be jealous of his enormous intelligence and success.
@@ppullman5470 You even up-ticked your own comment, the ego! I have read his rubbish and you haven't. He wasn't intelligent enough to even make it as an academic. This is why anger spouts from his every pore. That, after his education at Eton. All that wasted money. His singular talent is angry outbursts. And there really isn't all that much aside. Every single book he has written is an angry reactionary screed, apart from one. All that glitters isn't gold. And he does glitter with his anger rants, this is what riles poor sods like you. I do pity brainless unread, uncouth twerps like you. I really, really do. Most of his money comes from Koch.
Yes, but of course, you know as well as I, we are doing the very opposite in the English speaking world. We have though the ideas and art on our side, a magnificent cultural inheritance. We are not asked to storm a beach or live in a muddy hole, but somehow must find the ways to pass along what to us was given. The men who died at places like the Somme were not deluded victims of state indoctrination, they and their wives and sisters never believed their country perfect, just that it was capable of improvement and, if for no other reason, thus better than the alternative. It would be a start to return to that. The left believes they can destroy our civilisation by pointing up imperfections in our past. They come not for the obvious targets but for the very best of us, for Churchill, for Lincoln, believing that by discrediting even our best beloved they can condemn the whole civilisation. They teach that because we are not, never have been, perfect, we cannot be good, our history is a shame, the future our come uppance. They get away - unlike previous attackers of western civilisation - with not offering an alternative, no communist utopia (for obvious reasons!). They instead suggest it doesn't matter what comes in its place. As nothing can be so bad, anything would be an improvement on what has come down to us. We should not let them get away with this. If we are so bad what's the alternative? Or (as Douglas Murray has said) compared to what? What other tradition allows evils to be criticised from within and over time corrected? Is that not the killer question? We should teach warts and all but also the internal opposition at the time and subsequent developments.
I love your talks.I understand what you are saying. I think I have been starved of clever speeches, thoughts, ideas ,beautifully delivered in perfect spoken English. Thank you Mr Murray.
I recently discovered Douglas Murray, and what an absolute legend. His voice is so enchanting and articulate. My life is complete listening to Douglas Murray ❤
Thank you, dear Douglas, for this splendid speech! I admire you and yes me too I am so happy that I have the privilege to have discovered you in my life in this country which I love at least as much as you do, --dear Sir and Soul--Mate European,--Brave, brilliantly intelligent, witty and eloquent! Good luck to you wherever you are dear Douglas & BONNE CHANCE Cher ami: M.
As all treasures, chooses to live in the US. Douglas knows this country is over and has left before the rest of us realise. Like Hitchens said this (The united kingdom of great britain and northern island) is not a name for a country but a failed political compromise.
So good to hear Douglas speak common sense. We hear so little of it these days in Britain. I’m 63 and don’t recognise this country I grew up in. Immigration has altered it beyond belief. Makes me sad but people like Douglas, Nigel Farage and others like them give me some hope. Excellent speech!
I have an unnatural, almost peculiar devotion to this man. Second only to his oratory prowess is his flawless ability to think deeply through topics most routinely graze past.
Have you ever considered that you might be in a cult? I mean, "unnatural perculiar devotion" to someone is usually the kind of bond that I'd associate a cultist to have with his cult-leader.
@Dildo Insaney I don't know what that's supposed to mean. Is it that I need to learn more about this "expanded meaning of words and phrases" before I can understand you?
I've just finished reading his book "war on the West" absolutely fantastic, and i now realise that we in the west have absolutely nothing to feel ashamed of 🇬🇧🇺🇸👍
Unfortunate he is a Classical Liberal and pro war NeoCon with no solutions. He's an example of why the Anglo-sphere Right haven't conserved ANYTHING from 1945.
Has anyone ever heard a Muslim give an intelligent speech like this?Douglas reminds us how great the white race has been and is.Let us be proud and resist this attempt to drag us all down to the lowest common denominator in the push for diversity and equality of life. Some of us work hard, others leach of others.I am sick of victimhood.!What would we be as a nation if we didn’t pander to Islam and migrants.?
Absolutely brilliant introduction, I could not help laughing. And a brlliiant overall address, of course. Douglas Murray is a valuable presence in today's public discourse, and one of the best speakers out there.
Yes, you must read his books. They make you stop and evaluate all the issues that are negatively impacting our daily lives and that of our families and the society we live in and need to preserve.
I like listening to people who are eloquent, original, insightful, passionate and have a dry sense of humour. We miss these kinds of people from public spaces because they are deplatformed, intimidated and threatened, silenced and slandered. So what we get is parrots, puppets, automated voices in plush toys' tummies, slogan-infested, meaningless great, big nothing. Thanks Douglas for watering our withered souls.....
Perfectly put! Your comment is so true... we're now surrounded by people who are robotic and parroting, as you said, the same empty slogans, with nothing unique to offer, because we're all told to conform and think the same way. Douglas is a breath of fresh air to public life and his words remind me that we're all individuals who have a contribution to make. We shouldn't be held back by the radical mob crowd with their endless grievances.
If only our politicians had half the insight, wisdom, historical context, powers of analysis and ability to summarise complex realities down to essential truths. Douglas reminds us what a true statesman should, and could, be.
Douglas is now delving into the deepest parts of human nature! Human beings are envious & resentment! No one wants to admit this but it fuels their aggression & rage! It won’t solve anything. It will backfire! Bravo Douglas Murray!
@@Rasenganplanet I've been following Douglas for 5 years and I have not heard ANY aggressive atheism from him and so what if he's gay? He's a conservative! Should all gays be lefties?
Douglas is a national treasure that only the discerning are able to acknowledge. He's just brilliant at putting so eloquently exactly what has been happening in the uk and Europe.
Thank you Douglas Murray, I agree with all you said, yes about nationalism and yes to the importance of beauty... and thank you for the wonderful and emotional ending with C.S.Lewis.
CS Lewis would call this man out for what he is: a wolf in sheep's clothing, a false prophet, a man who's peddling easy answers to difficult issues. Douglas Murray defiles the name of the great Lewis.
Brilliant, absolutely brilliant! Murray is probably the most eloquent and sharp thinkers of the English speaking world; indeed of the entire west. If Sir Roger Scruton wore this mantle before, then Murray wears it now.
I have tears listening Mr. MURRAY.. Brillant as usual but this time he transmit truth like a poesie.. I experience exactly what he said 'envie and resentment' from leftists and they make you feel guilty ... living in France not easy to be pragmatic and express what i think.. but I don't have time any more at 72.. I feel so much emotion listening Duglas..I was born free and I'll die free..Thank You!
Peterson's under the thumb of politics at the moment though, he's made his bed now. It's a bed filled with candidates for the next election, and in the morning he is really going to wish he had used protection. Douglas was always political, but unlike Dr P he never switched sides. Peterson is too heavily influenced at the moment, Douglas is just far less biased at the moment.
@@DailyCorvid Peterson's politics takes from both left and right, and really isn't the boogie man character the mainstream media make him out to be, for example his belief in the freedom of the individual makes him appreciate libertarian values. He's not a supporter of Trump or of Biden either, so it sounds like you're reading too much of the mainstream, be precise in your points. What is it he has said/done that you object to exactly?
@@Rasenganplanet of course they are, in fact Douglas was one of the main speakers at the national conservatism convention last week... And Jordan regularly mentions his beliefs are conservative and a fan of traditional values, and is religious too which is a conservative value. He regularly condemns socialism and communism too
When we lost Sir Roger Scruton one thing that offered a bit of consolation was the knowledge that Douglas Murray is carrying on that torch for many years to come
Why does my response keep getting deleted NatCon/YT? Here's a third attempt- they were close friends and Murray frequently cites SRS in his talks and interviews. They did an excellent joint Q&A together shortly before SRS passed away. Saying they have no overlap is ridiculous.
From here where Pacific waters insist upon our shores to there such country once lending birth to mine, a virtual leap to meaning of love and gratitude and a touch of Lewis gifts Murray as only he can do.
I’ve said this for awhile now; he’s the closest living, modern day equivalent to Hitch. Actually, I think Douglas is even better. Imagine the conversations we could be graced with if Hitch was still with us.
He was never an apostatic trotskyite like the dubiously truculent Hitch. They both love USA but only hitch bent over a barrel to kiss backsides. English men sometimes parody Englishness. Not our speaker, he is authentic.
"There are too many people who imagine that there is something sophisticated about always believing the best of those who hate your country, and the worst of those who defend it." ~Margaret Thatcher
If anyone ever doubted the rightness of telling the truth, against the tide, just compare pictures or videos of this speaker ten years ago, with today's. He is now the picture of vivacity. He is happy, as much as a man can hope for. He is glowing with charisma. He is kicking butt, and taking names. He doesn't care a lot about victory because he's too busy getting it!
If you have watched RU-vid uploads featuring his contribution to contentious debates, one of his great gifts is his ability to remain completely calm under pressure, and answer with devastating logic, wit, irony and clarity - usually consigning the speaker of alternative views to the rhetorical naughty step with ease.
