You have NO CLUE. This has nothing to do with popularity. The idiot was buying massive amounts of views. TONS. RU-vid cracked down on that. It is EXACTLY what happened. Quantity of fake views bro......FAKE EFFING VIEWS>
Kwebb is still most def making good money he averages atleast 200k a video he’s still doing good but his content feel off but who cares cuz he’s making bank still
"I don't do it for the money I do it to make people happy" *proceeds to "industrial age" the process of making videos, to literally spam as many views out of people as physically possible, to make as much money with the smallest amount of effort*
It's modern social media for you. A bunch of child-fleecing, grooming sociopaths using parasocial relationships and parents more and more just abandoning their children to media (and thus the children not being prepared for this at all). Tiktok is basically the epitome of it, but there's a huge bubble of it in the youtube sphere as well.
The sin of sloth, greed, and pride (arrogance?). Sloth: Using AI to do the work for you. Greed: Wants everything there is for him to get. Pride: Bragging about most of the riches he made from the robots that did everything for him making a fken factory of endless bragging.
I watched SSundee all through elementary and into middle school, but then I "grew up" and started to lose interest and watch other channels. I'm in college now, and it makes me happy to see that his channel is still going strong. I also just watched the og sky factory for the first time in like 6 years and HOLY SHIT the nostalgia.
I remember watching him a lot between 2013-2016 and he legit had pretty good content, he constantly would think of new concepts in his videos that no other GTA 5 youtuber would think of, and that made him famous alongside being in his gaming group. You don't need to edit a million times in a video to make it good if the content is boring and repetitive, which most family friendly gaming youtubers don't understand. It only works for so long, until even the kids with the shortest attention spans grow up and leave.
I completely agree with Charlie about having friends of different ideologies, careers, and backgrounds. surround yourself with people who knowledge, skills, and perspectives you lack, you can help one another grow
@@homowillis3405 i never stopped my dude, i still revisit old series-es too like TABS or little inferno or amazing frog just to revisit the good ol' days

The sad thing about this is I grew up watching kitty0706...and Dasboschitt...and I never outgrew them even though it feels bad because they stopped making content...kitty for obvious tragic reasons and Dasboschitt because he sort of just vanished...really sad...on a lighter note at least Ross Scott is still committed to doing Freeman's mind all the way through...I love that series
as someone who’s watches more youtube than the average person over the years im surprised to have never heard of this guys until charlie talked about him
As someone who religiously watched him and his friends for years, it’s sad to see that they moved on from making content that the fans liked to content that made them money. Them turning family friendly was the beginning of the end.
This is what happens when you don't grow with your audience. I used to religiously watch the kwebblekop jelly and slogo trio but that's it, I was 13 back then now I'm 19 and judging by his videos he still makes videos for 13 year olds. 13 year olds now are not the same as 13 year olds back then, they got different tastes and interests.
Even if he kept doing what the fans liked, it wouldn't have lasted. Was he to just ride whatever wave popped up with age groups 8-16 for the next couple decades constantly playing the new kids interests for monetary gain. Nah. This was never going to work. Eventually people get sick of low quality trash. And it doesn't matter how much you dress it up or put a friendly face to it, trash is trash
I think the scariest thing of being a RU-vidr whose fanbase mostly consists out of children is you can't even tell once your fanbase is old enough to the point your content isn't their style. I don't even remember when I fell out with my favorite childhood RU-vidrs. One day I watched them, and the next day i didn't. It must be difficult
@@hermannlakehuntdream7678 You might be the best youtuber, but I think the scariest thing of being a RU-vidr whose fanbase mostly consists out of children is you can't even tell once your fanbase is old enough to the point your content isn't their style. I don't even remember when I fell out with my favorite childhood RU-vidrs. One day I watched them, and the next day i didn't. It must be difficult
I mean, that's how I fell out of watching many channels. That being said, there's many where I do go back to their old content and it still holds up. Likely nostlgia talking, but also likely themselves taking a steep decline. My personal example is Nerdcubed. Although I think he's transitioned towards mainly streaming he does upload some videos every so often, and they can be strong hits or lackluster misses. But I watch many of the older vids and they still hold up just fine.
The way he presents his business of virtual RU-vidrs and how he acts all proud as if this is a good thing and how he keeps flexxing all his riches, he looks like a Disney Channel villain.
Wow I never would’ve thought of that but you’re absolutely right! An adult who makes a bunch of robot channels to get rich and drown out the creative kids. Then the kids team up to defeat the adult. Which would seem like such a dumb fake disney villain but this is real life. What a sad timeline man
Cant explain why but i always disliked him. I remember him coming up in “suggested” while watching early pewdiepie vids way back when. The thumbnails just screamed annoying and insufferable
There are plenty of RU-vidrs who started out making content for kids but are still relevant. I’m very confident the issue isn’t making kid content. The issue is not evolving/changing their format throughout the years
@@CoOlKyUbI96 Yep pretty much. Some RU-vidrs also mature from making kids content and that works out well sometimes. The goal is to make sure your content isn’t stagnant
@@nahbro3965 its nice to have a mix of both. you need people to believe in your dreams just as much as you need people to call you on your bullshit. a good friend does both.
2:54 yea because a lot of times specific types of games die with that generation unless something happens again to blow it up like it has happened with minecraft or fortnite
I admit, I've been a casual observer on the platform almost as long as RU-vid existed. I've seen top content creators up and vanish into obscurity overnight to the most obscure channels that trudge along for years with barely a blip on the radar. And yet, in all that time, I've never even heard of Kwebblekop until now.
I remember Kwebbelkop disassociated with me back in my days of content creation for GTA 5 videos because he surpassed me in subs and views and i was essentially cut out of the circle of networking on skype with other gaming content creators. My channel was removed for 8 months due to a classic tale of youtube screwing their creators over and when i got it back, that 8 months of growth that he and other creators made while i was anxiously waiting to get my channel back, was enough for them to not care about me anymore. Being alienated by my peers was one of the many reasons why i quit I can see how the fame got to kwebbelkop and how it can change you as a person. Ah well lol
@@samanthahughes5590 Yea I'm happy with my life right now. Being in my mid 20s now i can't see myself wanting to be a youtuber anymore lol. Normie life is where it's at
Yeah, RU-vid fame and Hollywood fame is bad. they all want to be around people like them and dis their actual friends and hang around people who are fake, stuck up and almost obnoxious as they are.
Charlie's staying power is a combination of his inherent gooberness, authenticity about his opinions, and laidback content while still being consistent, which is better for more mature and thus more loyal followers
@@rodimusmaximus3912 have you actually been watching his stuff? He addressed the “Reaction Channel” stuff in a video, and gave his take on it, as well as explaining all the other things he does
@@thundervolt1018 Yes, I've been watching for like 12 years now. I know he does other stuff, but if you look at his channel you'll see that the "reaction" type videos get about 8x as much traffic as stuff like the Moist Meters. It's his most popular content and what he's most known for at this point. I didn't say it was a bad thing, that's up to personal preference. He literally says in that video you mention, verbatim, "My channel has always fundamentally been a react channel."
hes so right when he said "his fanbase just grew up" i used to watch him everyday i got out of school and now i havent thought about him in like 5-6 years
He was friends with some other lamey gaming RU-vidrs back in the day. I was never a fan cause something was off to me even thou I didn't think he was an asshole
I remembered watching the kwebbelkop/slogoman/jelly trio every day when i was 12-14, but i stopped somewhere down the line and forgot about them. It's really just about shifting interests and seeing their names brought back a lot of memories
A while back one of my friends hit 30k and when he did he decided to “clean” his friends list, which included me and a couple of his close friends. I watched him recently and discovered that all his older friends aren’t in his videos anymore, instead being replaced from some other people that conveniently have big channels
That happened to me with a music producer I looked up to. He got a track signed to a big label and suddenly he was only following like 20 people on Twitter, all people on the label or just giant artists. Sucks to realize you aren’t important enough to be someone’s friend anymore!
@@Pendarr just want to say, that when you get signed there are stipulations in your contract. The producer may not have had control over that once he signed on.
When talking about I want friends who have similar interests I can see both perspectives. Because right now I have friends that I have basically nothing in common with and we still have fun but it would be nice to do stuff. I enjoy with other people every once in a while.
the “just grew up” analogy is true for so many youtubers. of course, there are youtubers that this does not apply to, in everyone elses, or my case. but i still check out the channels of youtubers where i grew up and watch some of the older content for nostalgia
Kwebbelkop fell into a category I like to call “Trend followers.” There’s only so much a viewer can take before realizing the content isn’t going to be interesting because it’s just going to be whatever is trending at the moment. Muselk is another good example
I love the fact that Charlie is so open about how being around like minded people isn't good. You need to see the world from different perspectives if everyone was the same this fucking world would be much worse off than it already is.
I thought of the same thing a while ago when deciding my definition of "friend". (basically a copout for trying to make friends lol) A lot of kids in high school want to be around kids who like the same stuff "oh you like dark souls too? Let's hang out (talk for one time before I discard you because you suck lol)". After being a pro loser and seeing the garbage cans on the internet who like video games, anime, etc (typical antisocial interests I guess...) I realized I definitely do not want to be around cretins who play games. I don't get out enough to meet other people with other interests so it ends up being counter intuitive... Heh. Sorry, for my incoherent rambling...

Charlie I'm 42 year old disabled Army Veteran who would actually watch you talk about RU-vidrs that I have never heard of or would ever watch. I think it's amazing what you have accomplished when most of your videos aren't much more than a webcam and using the same mic that I have myself with some screen captured shots thrown in. I noticed you don't even have to use tags in your video's which says a lot about how much of a presence you have on this platform. You also seem to have a really good eye for talented and skilled players for your Moist eSports venture. @Kavetion Then why don't you have any videos on your channel? I have no problem supporting and helping other small creators but you have to have content on your channel that is worth watching. Just saying you are better than a established creator isn't going to help your channel grow.
Kwebblekop's decline on RU-vid is such a shame. I remember watching his GTA races years ago and they were actually entertaining to watch. I guess eventually all great things must come to an end.
1:18 this statement right here is legendary, i've met so many people who wanted to be surrounded by yesmen, the moment i had a different opinion than theirs, they started to crap on me and then later on removed me from their life. it's sad, because i liked being around them, but other than that, people really gotta open up to other people who have different interests and shit so they can learn from them and experience different things.

I've always seen "high energy" content as the audio/visual equivalent of having someone repeatedly mock you and throw their fingers in your face. If I never have to hear " H E Y W H A T S U P G U Y S ! I T S C U C K H O L D G A M I N G ! " again in my life, it will be too soon.
Having those kinds of intros pop up every once in awhile in your feed after not hearing them for years is a breath of fresh air, but you only really want to hear them once no matter how long it's been since you last heard them. Like dusting off an old book that you realize you were forced to read back in high school and hate it because of that.
At the end of the video Charlie gives kwebbelkop for his mature response, but it's still clear how kwebbelkop is stuck in a ''grindset'', like he has a success addiction. I find it respectable how pewdiepie completely abandoned that approach
it just goes to show how quickly things can change and riding a wave of success is bound to come crashing down, unless you change yourself or change your audience
And in this situation, you are completely wrong about him Him and whole group changed and started to become children channels, and that’s when they started falling off If they would’ve kept making continent that wasn’t for children and changing their language to better suit children audience this video wouldn’t even be a thing I can guarantee it
@@jackerie You're completely wrong, his primary audience were always children, and he made content primarily for a child audience, which he still does now.
It's really crazy how so many "Kid Friendly" gaming channels just flat out have been falling apart recently. These people haven't change how they make their content over the years and simply think when these kids grow up, new kids will take their place. But what many don't realize is what worked for the previous generation doesn't always work for the next, RU-vidrs need to constantly shift how they make content to survive, and there are very few that don't need to because of a dedicated fanbase. Kwebblekop however is an example of how your own personal feelings and changes in your friendships, business partners, and content so much in such a short amount of time will inevitably ruin you, and the sad part is that his friends are still very successful, and he threw them away trying to change. Now he's become essentially another Ricegum, constantly flexing all the money he's made over the years and spending it on things he doesn't need, getting into NFT scams and fragmenting his time so much his main channel is now dying. Let this be a lesson to all, don't become a Kwebblekop, don't think that massively changing your content in such a short period of time will work, Cause it doesn't. Don't think buying all these items and luxuries will make those losses go away, they won't. And, most of all, don't fragment your time and money into pointless amounts of editors and other projects you may never finish, cause in the end that's just time and money wasted, there's a reason some of the biggest RU-vidrs only have 2-3 editors and not over 10.

This is the life of a youtuber, you peak for the entire youth of a generation but once they mature the content grows old. Stampy is the best example of this
True, but I think that stampy deserves respect, as far as I know he hasn't tried to recreate his success or anything, and I think it's far less sad when you consider that not everyone wants to chase that high forever. If you understand the short time you have to make an impact, you make it count and realise that the feeling isn't locked behind fame, but that it's something you can carve out for yourself in any path in life.
The funny thing is, stampy's content actually has so many adult-related jokes within his content that NONE of us realised back in the day because we simply didn't understand, he was able to turn his adult humour into fun content for kids, which is kinda crazy

I have never liked the "flexing" thing. Always reminded me of specific people from when I was in high school who where incredibly shallow. Think most people know those types. The ones who basically get everything handed to them and the only thing that matters to them is what object costs and appearances.. Most of the time these people end up in horrible places once they finally get out there in life. ( At least, about 86% of the ones I knew who where like that ended up in places like that.. I did try to help one person who was a little nice to me at times but I kind of regretted it.. The person did not learn from things and their attitude from back then came right back.. ) Part of me wants to blame the parents but at the same time its not fully their doing. Could they have probably curbed some of that, yea.. But they wanted to dote onto their children. Something I can understand. You always want your children to end up in a better position than you where at the same age.. But sometimes its not the best thing to do for said children. TLDR Sometimes giving children what you did not have when growing up is not exactly the best way of doing things.. As they will sometimes end up coming some of the worst people to exist.
Something I love about Charlie is that aside from curls and cards, Charlie doesn't really flex. Even though we all know he could if he wanted to. His relatability is one of his strongest draws.
