Ray was always a good song writer. I was his bass player when we started SOCIAL JUSTICE back in the 80's in San Fernando Cali. We used to chill at his crib or mine for days on end writing songs. Now look where we ended up. Shits crazy
Nice man! Thanks for sharing a few words about the band. Downset is great hope your still doing well in life and maybe playing some bass too. I love this style L.A. always had a good scene especially 80s and 90s.
Holy crap it's 1995 all over again! See what happens when you get Ray back? This is a KILLER song. Had no idea they had new material and just listened 5 times in a row. Welcome back Downset! Breed The Killer 2014!!
Out of the HUNDREDS of concerts (primarily heavy metal, thrash & death metal) I've attended, "Anger!" is the ONLY song EVER to which a full-fledged mosh pit broke out BEFORE the concert even started!!! YES, while the sound crew was playing various heavy stuff (even some ""classics")" to keep the all the fans alive BEFORE the featured band even got on-stage, Anger! came on and the whole place ERUPPPPPPTED!!! ... into a GIANT mosh pit!!!! Fuckin' Forever Memorable 💪 👊!!! And definitely check out the band REBEL INC..!!! They are indeed the next Rage Against The Machine!!! Rebel Inc.has one epic full-length album out already, "Soundtrack to the Revolution," as well as their self-titled debut EP "Rebel Inc.". Their enormously-anticipated 2nd LP is expected sometime this year, 2018!! The 1st Rebel Inc. track I heard was Killin' The Future, and if that doesn't remind of RATM, then NOTHING will!!! They had me hooked from that first song!! Other STANDOUT tracks from Rebel Inc. are ◆ Police State; ◆ No Song (which I compare to my favorite RATM cut, Know Your Enemy) ◆ 909 Revolution ◆ Justice ◆ Push Back ◆ A Time To Kill ◆ Broken Man ◆ Everything That You Hate. And BTW, REBEL INC. has a Powerful political message ... putting on a HIGH ENERGY /FIERCE VELOCITY Live show! Like RATM always did!!!
Downset is the heart! From deep songs like "Anger" and "Breed the Killer" to a great poem called "Sangre De Mis Manos''! I love you guys. In the end 90's Empower came to life! Great respect for this underrated band. Rey screamed that "Poverty is the worst form of violence". Still is in 2016
ozzfest '97 Blossom Music Center, Cleveland. Rey stopped the show because a group of kids ganged up on a goth lookin kid. Rey called them out, had them removed then proceeded to play "Eyes Shut Tight". Unforgettable.
I have seen KoRn live a few times at Blossom. I also saw Coal Chamber and Mudvayne in 2023 there. I went to Ozzfest 3 different times too in Columbus, Ohio.
Am a big fan of lots of different metal genres,(hardcore, death metal, black metal, thrash metal, rap metal etc) have listened and played metal for 35 years. Of everything I have listened to, I must say that Rey is the most authentic vocalist I have ever heard, his words rip like demons under your skin, trying to kill you while you try to breath. Rey is the man!
This band was the gateway to hard rock for me since 94' when I was 14. I have goosebumps from head to toe listening to this. It's amazing and fresh! Ray's vocals own! \../..\../
man back in mid 90s here in Mexico City it was a dream come true listening rap and metal my fav genres geting toghether like Downset Stuck Mojo Hed PE RATM , Body Count early Limp Bizkit and i dont recall much more litte Biohazard oh Candiria, i still do wildstyle letters and scratches, never stoped since ´97 nunca paro el cotorreo carnales
Man....sounds downset sounds and feels like the 90s. I feel home I feel great. Music has gone terrible wrong this days. You got to love the bands from the 80s and 90s
I remember my senior year in 97 when I first heard the song "anger". It got me right away, just how fun and powerful it was. I was all about Deftones / Tool etc and these guys just fit right in my collection. It has honestly been some years since listening to Downset. I was down loading music from the friend who first introduced me and there you guys were, right on the top! I decided to find you guys here. And nice some new stuff! Your words are powerful! _ Thanks Downset!
When I was in a hardcore band in the early '90s, our manager commented that all of our new songs sounded the same as our old ones. We thought he just didn't get it. Decades later, I see he was right.
melhor banda do chamado rap metal do mundo, na minha humilde opinião o @downset está entre as minhas 10 melhores bandas do mundo, obrigado pela obra e sucesso sempre
