DOWNSTREAM Harrodsburg Mercer County Kentucky "Celebrating 250 Years of Greatness" :60 TV Promo
Focused in and around Mercer County, KY this historic, history-filled episode kicks off with a special tour of Old Fort Harrod where the very first settlement in the state of Kentucky appeared after the expansion west of the Alleghenies.
Liquid stories include Lemons Mill Brewery to sample 24 different brews and a family beer recipe that dates back to prohibition; as well as a sample (or two) of the unique Bum Ditty Hard “still” Cider bottled in downtown Harrodsburg at the Vault…featuring apples sourced from a long-forgotten culture of Shakers.
Speaking of Shakers, we’ll explore the many acres of Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill, Kentucky’s largest historic landmark. This progressive society is home to waterfalls, hiking, fine dining, cozy lodging, and beautiful architecture. From their ingenious use of the water mill to the many innovations we still use today, we’ll revisit the footprint the Shakers have left in Kentucky history.
Further down the river, we take a boat ride on Harrington Lake and explore the many aquatic attractions it has to offer, including a jump off Chimney Rock. The episode will wrap up with a very old bourbon at the charming Beaumont Inn, a former women’s college now the oldest family owned inn in America, handed down for generations since the 19th century.
