Doyle to me has something more..it is like he has been touched with spirit, his songs are filled with emotions, he has particular technical style that is very hard to mimic...but it does worth it once you learn to play just one of his arrangements and than you realize how far he went with his guitar approach that is like no other...,
+jbudlives Yeah Olson is great instrument, probably the best , but not so many people can afford to play 13.500$ Olson, ? Doyle loves to play pre - war guitars to. and he doesn't think about price, because no needs to.. So many people do not appreciate Ovation, but he does. We would all like to play an Olson, or Greenfield, and list goes on .. but so few can give away 13.000$ or even more. I play Larrive L-03R and I like it, it is solid guitar, and it wasn't cheap though, cause I've bought it new 1600$, but I dream about other guitars to. Who from guitar players don't do that? It seems to me as I would need a life time to pay for dream guitar and I feel there is something really wrong with the world if I need half of my life time salary to pay for some great instrument and satisfie my passion for it, Not that I don't want it, oh I do, but it is world, it is burning desire to have something that you can't have. What have they done to all of us..
+simpe zulu I have been playing the guitar professionally for over 40 years. I have owned hundreds of guitars. Many in the three to four thousand dollar range. I now absolutely refuse to pay more than $1000 for a guitar. Today's inexpensive guitars are pretty impressive. I have earned most of my money the past 10 playing MIM Strats. And a $999 Taylor 210ce acoustic. I constantly get compliments on my tone from these guitars. Believe me, I am not a guitar slob at all. I am also a Fender Certified guitar and amp tech and have been for many years. If a guitar has a good neck and plays in tune. I can get a useable tone. But I can still appreciate the excellent tone of a high dollar guitar. I would never pay $13,000 for an Olson or any other guitar. Even if I won a twenty million dollar lottery! I get a much bigger kick milking guitars under a thousand for all I can. BTW, I have owned a few Ovations in my time and loved them!
