The audience didn't render enough applause. If I was there, I'd be on my feet shouting! This performance never gets old! What Mr. Dykes does here is nothing short of masterful - genius.
just saw this guy perform in a small venue and all I can say is wow. What a musician and my friend told me I should listen to his coldplay medaly. speechless.
I am so impressed by Doyle's great guitar artistry and also with that of Tommy Emmanuel. They play together so well too!! Doyle is certainly blessed with much talent and he always gives credit to God for blessing him with it!!
This guy is an inspiration to all budding guitarist, his playing skill and the feeling in his playing! also the tone of that "Taylor guitar" is so sweet and crisp!!!!
I'm old enough to like the "Be Still" lead in because I understand it's meaning, but when he started the Cold Play, tears came to my eyes and I felt like I had heard his heart! Awesome!!!

Stephen Powell I owned a Taylor DDSM, and it is the very best guitar I have played among the many guitars I have owned. It is exquisitely playable with no defect, and it sounds as good as it is possible for a guitar to sound, amplified or not. I almost cried when I was forced to sell it, and I am not much for crying.
Doyle's my favorite (and the the best) guitar picker. However, there are many singers that I think are better in technique. Having said that, I feel his singing is part of his ministry. In that respect I enjoy and am inspired by his total performance.
Went to a clinic of his yesterday... Very, very Impressive technique; I've learned a lot in a couple of hours... Also a very humble and genuine person.... got my guitar signed :D
People should understand that at this level there simply isn't a such of a thing as the "best guitar player". There is nothing on earth that Doyle or Tommy cannot play and with absolute command of the instrument. I haven't had the pleasure of watching Tommy Emmanuel play in person, but to watch Doyle Dykes in concert is an amazing experience, I can assure you. I love Tommy's work and he is an exceptional guitarist as well, I just wish he would stop beating on the damn thing, or take up the drums.
It seems while looking at these vids, I've stumbled once again upon another Doyle/Tommy thread. sorry about the reply to just bigaggaie, but I keep hearing Tommy this, and Doyle that- and nary ever is there a mention of Scotty Anderson, who, if he stepped on a stage anywhere where they were, they would BOTH sit down, and go to school in awe. No one knows Scotty for a couple of reasons. He mostly doesn't leave Ohio, and he's TRULY humble.
Doyle's an amazing guitarist. A great talent, but I don't believe his gift if from god like he does..... He worked very hard and deserves the credit himself !
Doyle is probably the more proficient and technical fingerstyle player of him and TE, but Tommy has got so much more in his arsenal that makes up for it. I really don't think you can say definitively one is "better" than the other. If you really want proof of this, search "emmanuel dykes" and listen to them play together. They complement each other VERY well, though their styles are really pretty different.
Saw him live and it was an hour and a half of this stuff! He is a very humble Christian guy who is very involved with his family. EVERYTHING he plays is so incredibly clean! No telling how many Taylors he's responsible for selling. He sold me...
I love this version of this song, I didnt even know who he was until two days ago, he played at a really local guitar shop in renton washington and it was awesome... does anyone know how hard it is to play this?
only an average rating from me, not because of the guitar playing (can't fault that), but because somewhere in the middle the audio and video seem to drift apart. the audio comes across a fraction of a second too early which, sadly, i find too distracting to watch. still, even without watching the video, i still enjoy listening to it, so thanks for posting
Hey, did he bring any T-Rex pedals with him? He borrowed some from the store I saw him play in, and he said he loved them a lot, so I was wondering if he took some home after the gig.
