DR.ÖTEK MT-XR metal detector review - good or bad?

This is a short review giving my impressions of a budget detector from DR.ÖTEK. I started, as many people do, buying this budget metal detector to get started with metal detecting. BUT the big questions are:
Should you buy one?
Is it any good?
I try to give you the answer in this review. Now I am no expert metal detectorist, but so many who buy this metal detector and new and novices too. Summary: I find it very difficult to use.
In my opinion, it is not much more than a toy. I would recommend buying something a little better, if you are serious about metal detecting.

What would you say is better, the Minelab Vanquish 340 on sale for £229.00 or the Garrett Ace £250.00? I was going to get the Dr Otek, but after watching this I don't think so. I haven't got loads to spend, so the 1st 2 makes you suggested are out of my budget. I would be grateful for your advice, as it's my first metal detector, many thanks Vivienne

Hi Vivienne. The Minelab Vanquish, I heard, is literally the same technology as the Equinox, but is much simpler to use. Personally, I'd go with that. Maybe join our group on Facebook, South East Detecting. We've got lots of members to ask, who use them.

The Vanquish has more features but I'd double check which one is waterproof. I think the Vanquish may not be.

yes, might be a case I'm not using it correctly, just using it like my Minelab. My biggest issue with it, is how to stop the false signals

Just bought it off of Amazon. I’m having all sorts of issues with that it’s terrible.

Yes, they're not good. Send it back and get a decent detector.

I Got the m-t XR from Amazon and I Don all the settings including the Discrimination mode and the all metal mode But it Depends on what setting you have it on . I yous the Discrimination on the Beach including inland sites and if you . yous too much Discrimination the metal Detector will not Respond too any lost Rings and any coins and I started matel Detecting Back in in the 80s and all matel Detecders Do the same thing no matter how much you pay for the metal detecdor and I have Just watched the video and has he Got it the proper settings ?

Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I think it needs setting up correctly. As not had too much success to date. Would be great to get to grips with it, so I could use it as a spare.
