DR-107 One Design R/C plan build, Introduction

This is a series on building the DR-107 One Design (IMAC) r/c aircraft from the Matt Mrdeza plan. This plan was downloaded from outerzone.co.uk.
In this video, the plan and build are introduced. Major modifications will include adding flaps (non-scale), creating a one-off cowl, vacuum forming a canopy, fiberglassing the model and painting. Other modifications to construction will be detailed throughout the series.

Yup, 😊. I like your idea of separate servos for each moving surface. That is how I prefer to do it. If one does, you've still got the other. And it can open up some interesting mixing via radio if you choose

Yeah, I use redundancy on flight controls when possible. However, I like to use a single power source for flaps so if there is a failure then the flaps will fail in the same position in relation to each other.

Loved the model and the idea behind it. I do believe this plan is somewhat enlarged? Maybe I'll build one as well..

The construction article states that the original design was enlarged but I don't know how much. It is apparent though as the drawn lines are fairly thick, at about 1/16" wide.

I’ve just got the plans for this machine myself - what do you reckon of the idea of changing the shape of the fuse doubler such that the wing centre section is permanent with the 2 wings held on with tubes?

I think it's definitely doable. I recorded a short clip that I will add to the next update which should be out in the next couple of days. The clip gives my impression of how I would make the change. Go for it!
