I live in Gwinnett county GA and they sent a Clinician, the paramedics with 1 Officer when my daughter had a mental health crisis. The Clinician took the lead of the situation and was able to calm her down. I was appreciative of how it was handled.
@@Oshun_KC yes, I called 911 and told them my daughter was having a mental health issue. A few minutes after I hung up the clinician called back and gave me his name and said he was working with Gwinnett and would be arriving to my house. He did a medical evaluation and told me he would support the decision the family wanted to make. My daughter calmed down while talking to him. He gave us the option to either transport her to a behavioral health hospital or let her stay home. We chose for her to stay home. He gave us his card and said we could call whenever we needed assistance again. The officer never interrupted his process. Also I noticed the paramedics had to wait for the clinician to release them. I was very surprised by the whole situation but also grateful.
This really hit for me. My sisters half brother just died from suicide. He just woke up after complaining of a headache for weeks and shot himself in the head. Take care of your strongest ppl, they may be suffering in silence. ❤️
It’s easy to find one….but it may be difficult to find one that you like, feel comfortable with, or relate to. I feel like those are all important factors for effective therapy.
100% I had one I didn’t like then found another one I love her. Even if you can only afford once every few months it’s better than nothing it’s like 140 dollars. Lots of online programs you don’t have to leave your house. Good luck!
This is so so well done. She is so good at covering everything and has such a positive energy. So much practical advice and guidance . And I believe she is genuine . Bless her and this was such important content .
Stop it... it doesn't. And if it does, it's an excuse or cover up to always say things like "it's in God's hands" "God has a plan" nah... you gotta deal with mental health issues, don't put it on religion. -Physical Health -Having a purpose -Loving and feeling loved -Financial stability Those are PRACTICAL items that go hand in hand with mental health. Tell me about the BILLIONS of super religious people around the world struggling with severe mental health... 🤔
Yes, learning the baseline!!!! It took me years to figure out what was normal for me because I spent soooooo much of my life feeling pressed, stressed, or as I call it "being on". Took me being off for a while to figure out that I didn’t even know the difference between being okay and being under pressure. Turns out, I had become accustomed to stress. It became my normal state… this was GREAT!
Some of the symptoms that she was describing can also be describing an extrovert transforming into a introvert. I love my solitude but when I need to reactivate I go outside to get some sun as well as run errands so I can interact with other people. However it is important to talk to those who you are concerned about.
Dating these days best to be with someone who has been to therapy and has taken the time to understand their emotions and how to communicate them without being emotional is the new sexy, especially over 40
No, I wouldn’t go to therapy just to date you. Wth? You want somebody to go thru all that? Then what’s next? washing your feet and cleaning your dishes? No Thanks!
@@RR-sp2op absolutely going to therapy most definitely will kill a person’s ego. Most people can’t handle accountability and they think everything they do is right.
A lot of people in the hood don’t go to therapy because as soon as they go in the Dr’s r pulling out prescription pads. Not everyone needs meds, some do when they r properly diagnosed. However, there is also talk therapy which can get u to such things like she said, journaling, exercise, yoga ect..thers also behavioral therapy, coping mechanisms.
They don't go to therapy because it's seen as weak and vulnerable. Hood culture is extremely masculine and lacking in terms of self care when it comes to self-care. Psychologists don't prescribe meds btw.
Once again...WHATS WRONG WITH BEING OKAY WITH DYING? what's makes you guys say a person has to live?"you don't know what they feel like 😶 Why can't a person want to die if they want to?
What if all the things she’s describing as “signs” of sadness or depression are such constants in your life that it feels like that’s just who you are? I’m 24, I’ve been “sad” since I was maybe 9 or 10. I feel like these things are my personality but I also can recognize that I have that “highs” (they’re very short lived, years in between sometimes) so does that mean I’m always low? I appreciate all these conversations & platforms making it more approachable.
some of the things she mentioned such as giving things away? that could be a person just wanting to do a good deed! sleeping a lot? lol I have a lot of free time! no kids, sometimes my sleeping habits are all over the place! PLUS real talk? most of the pre-teens and teenagers are anti-social! face deep into their phones! how can you tell when little jarmall is depressed when he has been anti-social for long time!
What I love about The Breakfast Club they do interviews that's not relating to entertainment and this is one of those. All about mental health. Great discussion with Dr Alfiee.
If you call them gang members on one of your sick children or something like that who is having a mentally break down...you caused the death of that family member...;
I agree, Omar. I'm a black man and I would never in a million years call the police on my black son if he had mental health issues. That is just a disaster waiting to happen.
@@FelaKuti8000 slavery is only just one topic. Many things have happened. Like resident schools with thousands of murdered indigenous kids who were buried under the damn school. Yet your worried about mental health that is constantly on a platform which is perfectly ok. Nah I’m good off your comment.
