"Let's Talk Luncheon," on March 7, 2013, benefiting the Houston Aphasia Recovery Center (HARC), was a touching tribute to Dr. Justice, who, after a stroke in 2008 with resulting aphasia, helped found HARC making the center part of his legacy. BLAIR JUSTICE, Ph.D. embodies the Greatest Generation. His rich and long life has been about learning and sharing what he learned through writing, teaching, and serving his community. He started by earning three graduate degrees. Then, as a special assistant to Mayor Louis Welch during the turbulent race riots in the 1960s, the newly-minted Dr. Justice introduced many programs and policies that helped ease racial tensions in Houston during that period. Blair was an award-winning columnist and Science Editor at The Houston Post. He later moved to teach at The University of Texas School of Public Health, where he is Professor Emeritus and served as Associate Dean. While his distinguished career encompassed being a clinical psychologist, professor, academic administrator, researcher, and author of numerous scientific papers, it was as a writer of books that allowed him to serve and heal an incalculable number of grateful people had never met. After suffering a stroke in 2008 with resulting aphasia, Blair kept right on with his love of learning, teaching, and helping by becoming one of the Founders of the Houston Aphasia Recovery Center.
