Dr. Brooke Goldner has helped thousands of people reverse numerous autoimmune conditions and diseases. She even reversed lupus with her husband’s miracle metabolism diet.
Thomas Tadkock’s diet was supposed to help her lose weight. Neither she nor Thomas had any idea that his weight loss diet was going to reverse lupus. She and her husband modified and fine-tuned the diet, she calls Goodbye Lupus, over the years to help thousands of people live normal lives today.
Dr. Goldner has three protocols to choose from:
#1. Hyper-Nourish Protocol (if you don’t have a disease)
Add at least 1 pound of raw cruciferous veggies, 96 oz of drinking water, and ½ cup of flaxseeds or chia seeds daily to whatever you are currently eating. For improved results, omit inflammatory foods such as dairy and animal proteins.
#2. Goodbye Lupus Protocol aka GLP (if you have a disease)
The Goodbye Lupos protocol is a 100% raw vegan diet, that’s best for people who have a disease or an autoimmune condition because hyper-nourish is less likely to result in disease reversal.
Below is the list of rules and foods permitted on #2 and #3.
Fruit to a minimum - ⁃ Maximum 24 oz (680 gms) of fresh or frozen fruit (preferably frozen so that veggies don’t overheat in the blender or use ice).
Raw food only. No cooked foods. The exception is dried herbs & spices, which is permitted.
Instead of 1 pound of raw cruciferous vegetables, increase to 1.5 lbs (680 gms)
Fresh or frozen fruit. Limit fruit to 24 oz/680 grams. Excess fruit can impede the healing process.
No dried fruits since you can overeat them and water is removed.
Instead of 96 oz of water, increase water intake so that you are drinking 1 oz per your existing lb of body weight. If you are 150 lbs, drink 150 oz of water daily. Water is necessary for healing. It is one of the building blocks and we are 70% water.
Other raw veggies (except for potatoes)
¼ cup Fermented foods such as kimchi, miso and sauerkraut (without added sugar)
¼ cup olives
apple cider vinegar (balsamic vinegar is not permitted because it’s high in carbohydrates)
mustard
Braggs aminos (coconut aminos is not permitted because it’s high in carbohydrates)
all dried herbs and spices
1 tbsp raw cacao powders (not cacao nibs)
herbal teas without sweeteners
nutritional yeast
1 cup of caffeinated tea or coffee (unsweetened)
½-3/4 cup chia & flax
B12 and Vitamin D
#3. Goodbye Autoimmune Disease Protocol aka GAIP
In addition to the raw foods, add healthy lifestyle changes for rapid recovery, such as sleeping enough, adding, 30 minutes of daily self-care (pick ones you enjoy) such as baths, reading, sunbathing (if tolerated), playing with your dog or cat, painting, knitting, drawing, writing, blogging, talking or hanging out with your best friends…etc.
Reduce stress by meditating, yoga, using breathing techniques, and/or seek out a therapist if you need it.
Daily exercise will give you energy, assist in digestion, boost mood, preserve bone and muscle, move blood and fluids, and is part of healthy living.

This is such a great synopsis!!! Thank you! One additional thing to add is that Dr. Goldner suggests putting some kind of frozen fruit or ice cubes in the smoothies so as not to oxidize the chia or flax seeds. Once oxidized they loose their omega 3 benefits. Wonderful video. Thank you for making this! 😊
@sugarplumk2381
@sugarplumk2381 6 месяцев назад
I heard Dr Goldner say the frozen fruit was just to make it more palatable but I’m sure you’re right about the oxidisation too. Thank you. Good tip. I know that flax seeds lose their omega 3 quickly once crushed if not stored in the refrigerator. I buy them whole and crush them just before using them. They’re harder to find crushed at the moment. Or if I buy them crushed I keep in the fridge. I think chia seeds are okay to store in a cupboard, I hope so!

Thank you for a great summary of the protocols. I came to try it due to very high cholesterol and hypothyroid and I wanted to lose 10 -15 lbs. I am on month 7 now, I started out with green smoothies (big Vitamix container) and raw salads and lots o water! Between the smoothie and the water it was hard to fit much in between as I was constantly sipping/gulping one or the other in order to get my daily quota in before bedtime! My digestive tract rebelled! Gas, diarrhea, frequent trips to the bathroom but I stuck with it and although it took months, it's all settled down. I did however get a smaller blender container (48 oz) thinking I could make one in the morning and a fresh one in the afternoon but I just don't make the afternoon one. I just can't. I also started making different dips for raw cauliflower, Romanesco or broccoli but they are not raw dips (beans, sun dried tomato, cashew, roasted red pepper, hummus). As a result, my cholesterol is half what it was (very high, 425) so I don't have to start statin meds. So I am very pleased. I use a couple of WFPB cookbooks (not 100% raw) and the food is so delicious I have no thoughts of going back to standard food. I don't miss cheese, or dairy, or meat. It does take more time to prepare the food, but it's not difficult, the food is pretty simple.

@NinasPlantBasedVeganRecipes 8 месяцев назад
She doesn’t have a limit on the amount of nutritional yeast you can consume per day, but based on my own personal experience, I only consume unfortified nutritional yeast, because my B12 gets too high, and I also limit nutritional yeast because it has naturally occurring niacin. Too much niacin can lead to a full body niacin rash, which is uncomfortable, and feels pretty darn awful.

If you are doing the GAIP protocol, fully raw, you just do it until you have no symptoms and your labs are clear. For each person, that is a different time frame. you can use Chia seeds without soaking them as long as you grind them first. A lot of people just put the Chia seeds in their smoothie and blend it that way.

Thank you for this very clear summary ! According to you, can fresh dates (in this case mazafati dates) be eaten in 24oz of fruits ? Aren't they considered too dry? This is the only fruit I eat for which I have doubts. Also, I can eat the fruit on its own, apart from the smoothie, can't I? I've been following the strict goodbye lupus protocol for 9 days now and I'm seeing good progress. I often refer to this video and some of your recipes. Thanks for all of this !🥰
@ninasnutritionandwellnessvideo
@ninasnutritionandwellnessvideo Месяц назад
Hi Sandra. Dr. Brooke Goldner doesn't permit any dried fruit, including dates, until a person is completely healed, because dried fruit is unnatural, causes blood sugar & insulin spikes, is drying, high in calories, and most people eat too many. For instance, it's easy to eat four dried apples, but it's almost impossible to eat four apples in a few minutes. Even if someone has zero health issues, dried fruits should be minimized. You can eat fruit on it's own or with other foods. I eat a variety of fruit to get more nutrients and more healthy gut flora. I'll be doing a live raw vegan Q&A soon.
@Sandraeyss
@Sandraeyss Месяц назад
@@ninasnutritionandwellnessvideo Thank you Nina ! I understand. I had a doubt because the dates I buy are said to be "fresh", i.e. not dried, but they naturally dry out a little each day. Anyway, I'm going to cut them out of my diet. Besides, I feel that fruit is not ideal for my body right now. What a shame! I'm going to cook vegetables a bit more and take inspiration from the recipes you suggest, because smoothies alone are... boring ! I have one last question if you may : are all the recipes in the Goodbye Lupus hello delicious book adapted to the strict protocol? Love from France 🙃
@ninasnutritionandwellnessvideo
@ninasnutritionandwellnessvideo Месяц назад
@@Sandraeyss A 100% fruit diet isn't healthy, but whole ripe fruit definitely is healthy as long as a person includes a variety of vegetables too. I feel better when I eat fruit than if I eat a potato, Ezekiel bread, whole wheat pasta, tofu, etc. I don't know what type of condition you are trying to heal from so I don't know if you should avoid cooked plant foods. Yes, the "Goodbye Lupus, Hello Delicious" recipes are all autoimmune reversal-compliant.

I've tried to do the all raw protocol and it is causing sharp pains in my veins, mainly in hands and feet but also occurs elsewhere. If I go back to cooked foods it stops after a few days. So I don't know what to do as I know I need to heal, and the cooked steamed veg is not going to work.. Maybe go slower? This is a very weird issue which I figure is likely some kind of auto immune condition.
@ninasnutritionandwellnessvideo
When people start her auto immune protocol, it is very common for symptoms to get worse. On day five I threw up, so I started again a few weeks later, and again, threw up the entire smoothie on day five. At that point, I realized that smoothies aren’t going to work for me so I switched to salads and although I did get nauseous from time to time, due to my body repairing tissues and cells, I didn’t throw up throw up. I had ginger tea or miso soup which got rid of the nausea. I also didn’t feel good intermittently for five weeks. Some people can get worse symptoms at the beginning, so just push through it and you will eventually feel much better.

Thank you so much for the details! I've been on it for 5 weeks now (strict to the information you presented and 100% organic) but I don't feel any different - if anything I'm starting to feel lethargic, and my joints are more stiff (could just be the January weather). Starting to wonder if my issues aren't autoimmune (I was thinking MCTD because of a mildly elevated antibody blood marker) or if I need to incorporate more of the 'self-help' type things she listed in the book for results. -Or maybe it's time to slowly reintroduce cooked foods and then just keep up the high cruciferous, omegas, and water going but with a more sustainable WFPB diet. Any thoughts are appreciated :)

I was on it for 5 months and followed all her steps, self care, exercise, limiting stress...etc. Detox means feeling worse at times, which is no fun. She just published her cookbook so you might want to purchase it. If you're not seeing improvements, keep following it. You may need to eat more flax/chia and avocados. Some people need more omega 3's so, often, I would eat 1 cup of ground flax seeds each day. I'm going to make a video showing how I make flax cookies soon. I have some raw vegan recipes on my other channel: Nina’s Plant Based Vegan Recipes if you want to check those out.

I experienced this as well and in my case I became hypothyroid which made me tired and affected my joints. I was taking iodine but consumed it at the same time as my cruciferous vegetables which likely blocked the absorption. I leave at least 4 (usually 7) hours in between now and I feel much better. This may not be the case for you, but I though I'd mention it.

When you are on a plant-based diet, it is very typical to lower medication initially. Eventually, you can get off most medications 💊 altogether but you want to work with your doctor as many medications need to be tapered. If you are not happy with your doctor, you can work with Dr. Goldner directly or there are plant-based doctors that you can consult with, but typically they are out of pocket. If you want to find a list of plant-based doctors, you can go to my blog realdiethelp.com and search for plant-based doctors to find that blog post.

That's something you want to talk to Dr. Goldner about. She has live Q&A's on her RU-vid channel on Wednesdays at 12:30pm where you can ask your question. If your doctor tells you to limit potassium-rich foods and water due to kidney damage, follow that advice; you can still follow her protocol, but modify it to meet your current needs.

Just got my Type 1 auto immune test results back and they are negative now! If you are making green smoothies with water, you don’t need to drink water 💦 with the smoothie. Have water before, during and after a meal, sipping throughout the day. You don’t want to choke on a meal so it’s best to have some water with meals.
