NOTIFICATION SQUAD: The Dr Jelly trilogy is finally complete! The saga is over once and for all. The only question remains, WHICH was the best commercial of the three?! IN case you missed the most recent Abroad in Japan episode featuring the making of Dr Jelly, check it out here! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ht5e-IMYhlU.html
Over once and for all? I hope not! I know you said in a video recently this will probably have been the last Journey Across Japan for quite a while, but I do hope you'll do another one some day and of course that Dr. Jelly will return! JAJ really is one of the best and my favourite series on RU-vid, you put so much love, time and effort into it and your work just got better and better. There are so many beautiful places in Japan that I wanna see one day when I travel there, that I only learned about because of this series. Thank you for that and for your brilliant entertainment over all those years! You guys are just the funniest and again - I hope to see this amazing series return one day. Much love from Germany to you guys! ❤
I'm forever grateful to that guy (or gal) that put that challenge of "make a TV commercial" into the Anpanman. What a legacy it has become! Of course, I'm also forever grateful to Dr. Jelly.
Though he doesn't get a lot of screen time, I think we know the most about Ian's character, and is far more interesting than Chris' character who is *still* working at the same dead-end job that works him to the bone. Ian is a ramen shop owner who commutes to work by train and gets his haircut at Natsuki's hair salon. Meanwhile, Norm keeps walking in on the same dude getting electrocuted. XD
Honestly, the first set the precedent, the second improved on the foundation and added some extra comedy whereas the third is the best- in a cinematic sense. All of these have their strengths and I'm here for it. 👍🏻
Perhaps the day will come where Joey isn’t on the JAJ trip, do we A bring Joey in just for the Dr Jelly spot B discover there’s more than one Dr Jelly or C become emotionally unstable due to a lack of Dr Jelly ads?
Joey's confident acting and shaking at the end is perfect. Also Chris's reaction faces are perfect as well. This whole series is a fucking masterpiece, you guys are fantastic, fucking hilarious
1st : Gets electrocuted by a dangerous electric device 2nd : Gets electrocuted by a phone 3rd : Gets electrocuted by... scissors? I'll never get tired of that gag though
I love the production value that went into all of these, especially considering the crazy restrictions of being on the road! Dr Jelly was my gateway into Joey's content and the Trash Taste podcast too!
I love that each character's reactions in the doctor jelly commercials has stayed consistent through the trilogy and the format of the commercial has stayed essentially unchanged
I love Natsuki's performance, so natural! He looks genuinely troubled by the empty hair gel bottle 😆 After the trilogy, I think it's time we have some real Dr Jelly merchandise 😂
Does anyone else find it suspicious that Chris's characters seems to be following Ian's characters around. First he's on the train with him, then he turns up at his restaurant, before happening to enter the same hairdresser at the same time. This will need to be addressed in Dr Jelly 4.
@@PapayaStyle For sure. I was saying more like deadly electrical powers. I'm sure it's a double edged sword where he has a jelly that can heal the electrical damage he inflicts.
The recurrence of Dr Jelly commercials is now officially a tradition, please have it in the next Journey Across Japan series! Love the series, hope it's not too long until the next one :D
You know, some people were on the brink of getting that song out if their heads and here you are torturing them again with the never-ending cycle of catchiness
If you learn Japanese you can tell Chris has an accent when he speaks, but his pronunciation is clear enough to understand what he is saying. So in that sense as long as what he's saying is conveyed properly he's still pretty legit lol.
Im japanese and i can tell he is a foreginer 100% but its still good for a foreigner. Joey (anime man) legitimately speaks good japanese tho and sounds fluent
Norm walking in and backing away scared is such a great final touch. I also love how in the third one, Joey's being electrocuted by nothing even electrical 😂
Even better, OVA its just a Tokyo Lens live stream and right at the end Norm just "ducks in" to a little shop and they are shooting a Doctor Jelly commercial and he and his livestream just back out slowly. The complete meta/ inception circle is completed and we are all along for the ride.
I want a Dr Jelly action figure. Heck, I'd buy an entire Journey across Japan squad action figure set. "Pirate pants Natsuki" would be very popular, I bet. Good grief Chris, why haven't you done this yet? You'd make enough money to fund your trips for the rest of your grumpy, cynical life.
Man, this group has some great chemistry. And how about Natsuki in part 3: it's like he was born to do slapstick! Quality bit parts performed by Norm and Ian as well. Long live Dr Jelly!
A full series of Ian and norm travelling across Japan separately but always ending up in the same place and doctor jelly ruining their day would be perfect
All I know is, Dr Jelly may be gone, but he he lives on in the smile of every child, in the blood of every glucose filled "athlete" and the cracks and sores of overly sanitised hands.
These are THE BEST ads known to man. Especially Dr. Hair Jelly, I've been laughing my butt off. Thank you Dr. Jelly, you saved the day. Japanese TV ads must pick this one up!
Ha, I love how the commercials get increasingly more artistic in how they're filmed. Great work guys. And I just noticed the call back of Norm showing up and backsliding once he sees the commercial antics :D
I love that you can see the significant increase of production quality from the second to the 3rd commercial. You've done an amazing job on the vids Chris!
I feel like Joey is just prepared now to be Dr Jelly! You know the moment he heard about series 3 of JAJ the first thing he packed was the white coat and sunglasses!
