I Tried Watching Japan's WORST TV Show of All Time 

NOTIFICATION SQUAD: YOU LOOK SENSATIONAL IN THAT DRESS. Is this show really as bad as I think it is? (YES). Although I can't tell if I've become desensitised to the insanity, given that I've seen it numerous times over the years. Shame it doesn't work (as witnessed with Natsuki in this video!). Either way, enjoy the video and get ready for a headache.

OK, "I have a bad case of diarrhea" seems hilarious at first. But if you're ever traveling, that'd be a pretty useful phrase to know in any language if it ever does happen.

I started singing these phrases as a joke and now I can't get them out of my head.

That the auto-generated english subtitles captioned Natsuki as saying "I was loved by two men" brought the humor of this to a whole new level.

I watched this with my husband and we cracked up all night with the phrases they were doing. I'm a nurse, so I'm usually the serious one and he's a graphic designer and kid at heart, so he's the one that always makes the jokes...Then this morning I heard my husband run upstairs to the bathroom. I hopped up and ran up the stairs, stopping him just before he could close the door. "WAIT!" He turns and looks at me, "Come on! What?" I stood there for a moment, trying to desperately remember the dance, when it suddenly hit me, "DO YOU HAVE A BAD CASE OF DIARRHEA?" He audibly groaned and the door. Come on! That was a good one! ...no? lol

I unironically want a Japanese version of this. I might actually exercise if I could learn random Japanese phrases while doing it

We all know British officers would hit you with “that’s England innit” and walk away

2:33 Seeing Natsuki laughing like that just injected serotonin into my brain.

Reminded me of when I was in Japan, asked a guard at a station how to get somewhere (I didn't speak Japanese) and he started moving his arms around to remember how to say right and left in English, then he told me the way. I guess sometimes moving your body works, it was a bit awkward while I was waiting, but I love the effort he put into remembering and helping me out

To be fair, laughing uncontrollably could be a pretty good abdominal and cardiovascular exercise.

Fun fact: The girls got the word "Fräulein" on their tops, a german word for a young woman but it's not common anymore.

I'm Japanese, I had no idea about this show and thought this was a joke otherwise how come I've never watched this masterpiece until now. Found out this was aired early 90' when I was 6, of course still sleeping at 5am. Imagine Japanese children loudly sing "I have a bad case of diarrhea" everywhere in Japan. Back in the day there were many ridiculous Japanese tv programme however strict regulations changed them all. Now "I have a bad case of diarrhea" song stuck in my head, try not to sing in front of my 3 years old daughter. Thank you Chris for sharing this.

Can we just appreciate how great of a pal Natsuki is to be willing to do skits with Chris in a business hotel room. 😂 I’m also wondering what the next door hotel guests were thinking as they hear “I have a bad case of diarrhea “ being chanted at whatever time of day that was. Was it utter horror or were they feeling nostalgia? 🤔

Oh Natsuki, you are a breath of fresh air in a cold and dreary world. Also Chris dancing in a reaction window was utterly perfect.

This reminded me of how I was taught French in my freshman year of middle school lmaooo. They also believed movement would help us remember the words so each lesson we were just wildly gesturing while screaming random words. The best lessons were when we had to act out the story of The Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf. Such useful French phrases. IL SOUFFLE, SOUFFLE, SOUFFLE

The part where it can get really wrong is when people mix up the phrases, and say thing like "You look sensational with diarrhea", "I am allergic to men", "Please spare my climax scene"

Natsuki is a Japanese national treasure and must be protected at all costs

I would totally watch a language swapped version of this. I need to exercise and also work on my Japanese more

Given how strange Japanese television can be, it's heartening to see that Natsuki found this show as weird as we do.

As a German, I laughed even harder about this bizarre workout videos, because some of these girls are wearing sports dresses with "Fräulein" print on it, which is a pretty old fashioned word for "madame" :D And of course, the book explanation what a "f*ckin' bastard" is like was simply just brilliant xD

As a German I was surprised to read "Fräulein" at the shirts of the girls. It was very polite of the camera man to zoom in, so I could read the german word better.

The thoughtof a Japanese person out in the wilds of a foreign country trying to impart the urgency of their situation through the universal medium of interpretive dance is something I will find immensely funny for far longer than I should.

RIP to the guy who provided the english phrases for that show, who most likely have died from laughing a long time ago.

This brought back memories of actually watching this show on Fuji back in 1992. I would commute to Tokyo early in the mornings and so would wait around in my house for about 20-40 minutes just watching what was on television. As someone who had been on many business trips to America, I knew that language like this was not exactly useful, but it was still entertaining with its loud synths and dancing sequences. As one of those ‘extra slots’ on television just after the Bubble period, it wasn’t well-known but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I love how dynamic the frame looks with the warm lighting behind the paper door and the cool lighting behid the book shelf. Just an example of how polished the cinematography has become over the years.

1:31 Best joke ever in this video. I wasn't expecting that at all, so it was very difficult to contain my laughter, because it's 7 in the morning, and my parents are still sleeping.

The teaching method is still used in language classes, where it's called Total Physical Response (TPR). It's not used so much for describing bowel disorders though.
