I collect 4 pairs of Doc Marten shoes...all are made in England.. I love their shoes. 1460 cherry red, 1461 camo, 1461 black pebbles and 1460 black pebbles.

You will like what I will say generaly. But it's not kind for DMs. The company who made the shoes that were "MADE IN ENGLAND" was called Solovair. They almost went fell into bankruptcy until they made their own shoes. They have the same design, but the difference is that soloair shoes have white welting stitches. While DMs have yellow. I had a pair of doc for only two years and the soles of both boots came unglued on both. Not from abuse but from shoty workmanship. I own the combat boot doc's for the last 9 years and the hold up better. Hope the quality goes back to what it used to be.

The company doesn't glue the soles at all. They melt PVC in the upper to the PVC soles with a hot knife. It's one of the reasons their shoes are so durable.

My pair(s) have always wore the soles out. I remember the leather going (a long split) above the yellow stitching (fixes the sole to uppers) but these may have belonged to someone else? But DMs looked good and were comfortable. I'd had 11 eyelet steel toe-cap boots and they should have come with a packet of plasters for blister protection. The latter, with their commando treaded soles, looked lethal!

Comfortable and good looking, but not at all durable. My DrMartin uppers are in great condition but the soles are cracked. Now I have nice looking shoes that are junk.
