Please check it out and if you have any comments or questions please ask away. I will be doing more tests with it putting it up against other budget detectors when the weather gets better it was very cold the day i did this review. Please subscribe so you dont miss any of our videos which come out every Thursday at 7pm.

I have just started and bought this kit. I think it is great! It is lightweight and simple to use. Been on a couple of digs but not found anything exciting yet. (apart from friendly and helpful advice and support). Found lots of rubbish but at the moment I am happy to find anything!! Off to the beach today!! Thank you for this review!!

Thanks for the comment, I have to say I liked it, you need to swing it nice and even across the ground as low as possible and not to fast, make sure you completely pass the coil over the target, I would use All metal to start with but if it's a deep tone (ferrous) leave it. Good luck today and thanks again 🤗

This was a fantastic review. As a soon to be detectorist looking at getting an entry level detector and needing more information about choosing this over one other, this was excellent. I especially appreciate you not using anything you don’t get to detect your finds. Thank you and good hunting 😊

It will find it if you walk over it, my best advice would be to maybe save and try to get better but better is £300 plus, you need to take things slowly, swing slow and as close to the ground as possible checking every signal from different directions, it's a decent detector to get you going and as you saw it will find stuff, good luck and please get in touch if you need any advice 👍

Hello and just a follow up, if you have a detector that's great if not check out my Nokta FindX Pro videos £158 for the detector, digging tool, headphones and bag a very good bag please have a look these are fully waterproof 👍👍

I bought one. Fine to get started. I invested in a good Nokta pin pointer and they work well together. Nice thing about detecting is that 2nd hand value is high for equipment so if you want to sell to get out or better gear then it's easy. I went cheap detector but good accessories to get started. Fancy a Nokta Simplex if I'm still into it by tge end of this year. Enjoying the time spent with my wife. She does all the digging and pointing work (she loves it), strange as she has always been a pink nails kind of gal ?

Nice one, me and the wife both detect so have do all that myself, your right the MT-XR is a good starting out detector to start you off, easy to set up and use so good choice, the Simplex is also a good choice very well built and again not hard to learn, good luck with the hunt 👍

Fantastic! Thank you for this. I’m on a beginner Facebook page and the more experienced people are saying this is junk compared to the rest. But this is EXACTLY in my price range, so I’m hoping that it pays for itself by the end of Summer 2024! ❤🎉🎉🎉🎉

The best place for it to pay for it's self is on the beach, pick ones people go to for the day and always try out where they swim it's amazing how much people lose when swimming, also the beach is very mineralised so knock the sensitivity down till it's quite or bearable all single frequency machines suffer from this. Good luck don't listen to people we can't all go out and buy a Manticore, thanks for watching 👍

Thank you so much for the review, and I'm so glad it was a good one; I just bought the Dr Otek pin pointer, and you just sold me on the detector. It looks like a decent detector for my first one 👍Thanks again, and I absolutely love your accent💖
@rudigginit
@rudigginit Год назад
Cheers, my advice is swing low and slow don't try to rush if you get a good repeatable signal try it from a different direction if it's still a good 2 way dig it, as all detectors you will dig a lot of rubbish but by picking your targets you will start to get better, also have it in all metal you will hear the rubbish but it will open your detector up. Thanks for the accent comment Im a Yorkshire man 👌

Great video, but you don't turn them on with coil on floor, got to have it in the air pointing forwards for example. Grounding or ground balancing is different for many detectors. But you should do it anyway, same settings on another day might have different results simply because of moisture, so easy to balance detector before each and every use.
@rudigginit
@rudigginit 2 месяца назад
I always turn on with the coil just above the ground most of the time or on the ground but I've found no difference with the cheaper detectors my Legend works with zero ground balance it was made to work with zero and I suspect the cheaper one's are the same, I don't know but like I said I haven't found it makes any difference, thanks for the comment 👍

@@rudigginit You are probably right, I just read it in the instructions and in Yorkshire pudding land no two days are the same weather wise, so it's a habit haha! I think if I recall that the Dr Otek ones remember previous settings, so think that is why I got into the habit of doing it. Having said that, I detect an accent with you too haha!

@@rudigginit Oh and yes, the Dr O old pin pointers were good, just ordered the new one, with Amazon discounts worked out at £35 delivered, so going to give that a go, but got two of the older types work great too, also ordered their new long spade, those little ones they supply sometimes instead of trowels are good, but long handled better for those long days you don't want to bend down too much. Also got the smaller yellow handled spade, those mini ones, they retail at over £12 but if keep an eye on them occasionally you can get a ten quid voucher off them, so I got one delivered for less than £2.

We went on our first dig with this yesterday. Sadly the headphones died before we got out the first field but were allowed to use it with sound on. How have your headphones lasted or have you swapped them out for something else now?

A good one is Dr Otek MT6 Pro last time I looked it was £39.99 there are loads of very cheap ones from £15 or so but won't be waterproof or as good build quality but will work ok and you will find the item but the MT6 Pro is what I'd get, hope this helps and good luck 👍

And tips for a beginner? I have the same metal detector but not the wand. And I can't seem to find anything I get signals and don't find anything. What am I doing wrong
@rudigginit
@rudigginit Год назад
First thing is knock the sensitivity down 1 to four, take the metal out so the first window so it's not all metal, when I have used mine I never dig anything if it isn't a repeatable signal as in you get the bleep both ways you swing and move around the signal to check it from different angles but most important is take your time swing slow and low and learn the machine you will find stuff. Hope this helps good luck 👍🤞

I bought one new off ebay and found out it was an Amazon return when I went to set up the warranty, as they ask for your Amazon order number. These detectors are now around £180 to £185 on Amazon and to me the quality is now bad compared to price, I paid £139.99 but by today's prices I would rather get an Ace 200i for around the same price. Just bought a Minelab Vanquish 540 Pro and Dr Otek is now just a reminder of a bad decision. The MT-XR is rated as a beginner detector but it seems to lurk within the realms of kids detectors and in my opinion will likely put some beginners off the hobby, I just can't get my head round all the reviews hyping this unit up, I should have followed the advice on one channel that slated this unit. Inconsistant results, lots of false signals and the sensitivity and discrimination are not reliable on the unit I bought. I could just have a duff Monday or Friday made unit, instead of a good Wednesday made unit, workers tend to be more focused mid week LOL. The Warranty set up is suprising, no serial number needed, directed to join their facebook group which is more a sales platform than anything else.
@rudigginit

Yes I agree it's aimed at the total beginner, most don't want to pay £100s of pounds when they have nowhere to detect, I found 2 good items in the first 30 mins so it does work, the advice I give is turn down the sensitivity and swing low and very slow checking all signals from different angles, your right there are better machines now the Vanquish, the Ace and the Simplex light are all very well priced and very good machines, thanks for the comment 👍
@fdghn4567
@fdghn4567 8 месяцев назад
@@rudigginit I used it low and slow because of the slow recovery, lots of signals that were not repeatable and in discrimination mode it picks up iron as silver and coins on tests, it's my back up but i'll have to dig every repeatable signal because I can't rely on what that the display is telling me. Next time I'm out i'll let someone else use the MT-XR and then go over signals with the Vanquish to double check. Pushing the spec and price up doesn't mean anything if those extra bells and whistles are of inferior quality and don't operate with any consistancy, no wonder Amazon have so many of these sent back, It's like the cheapo pinpointers, about half of them are duff but usually because the coil is sitting too high inside, and I wouldn't spend on the Dr Otek pinpointer at the price they want when I suspect the internals are more than likely out of the same factories as the cheap one's. Decades ago I had a cheap kids detector, no fancy displays back then just two knobs and a built in speaker, yep it worked fine just you got a lot more junk, but at least it gave repeatable signals. I eneded up giving it to a kid and then buried some coins for him to find in the sand just in case he didn't find anything and lost interest lol.
