An interview with Jon Pertwee when he visited a science fiction show in Basildon in 1995. Sadly Jon passed away about a year after this interview and Dennis passed away in 2010, both greatly missed.

2:15: "... the traditional folk hero figure that kids could follow and rely on." He absolutely nailed it. He will always be my Doctor. Many an enthralling Saturday evening was spent in his reassuring company. Gone but never forgotten. Long live King Jon!

Definitely thee best Dr Who. Was lucky enough to meet him at the 1974 Car Show, I got him to sign my Car Show program.. Being only 8 I was to star struck to actually say anything.. all I can remember is how tall he looked.. such great days and am so pleased to have been a kid in the best era of television.

I met him when I was a small boy and remember that he wouldn't stop chatting to me. My mum had to drag me away to look at the Sea Devils and Daleks on show at the fete we were in, in Portsmouth. Such a kind man, I remember.

my "first doctor" was Tom Baker (those were the episodes that got played most heavily in the US when i was a kid). but at some point i watched the episodes with Jon Pertwee and liked his take on the character better. (i also liked Patrick Troughton, but they didn't show as many of his episodes over here). i wish i could've met both Pertwee and Troughton when they were still alive.

Yes, I could tell he liked doing that show. I've only seen a couple of episodes of Worzel. I just read his final interview. He was really looking forward to an animated version of it due to start that year. He actually thought Worzel was much more diverse and interesting than Doctor Who. However, he must've had some inkling he had something wrong with him?. Ofcourse he was working alot BUT you know he had doctor appointments. I have to say though, he remains my fave with Patrick second.

Hey, I'm an old Yank. But I have been a Dr. Who fan since the 60's. my favorite Dr. was portraid by Jon Pertwe(#3). David Tenant is good. But not the same!!! Eggleston was a lot like Tom Baker, with short hair. I am looking forward to the next season. =Stefan=

As a long time fan of doctor who(I can remember Barbara being menaced by a Dalek's plunger stick), I can never understand the fuss surrounding David Tennant. Both he and Matt Smith seemed like gay poster boys-though I would say that Matt Smith made a slightly better doctor than Mr Tennant. I'm not being disrespectful as such, I'm just a little suspicious of the reason for their being cast in the role. All the original actors to play the doctor from William Hartnell to Tom Baker were excellent; they had otherworldly characters and appearances. The trouble today is the casting of young rather bland characters who cannot hope to impress the notion of great age and experience on their audience. Even Peter Davison looked more the role than his recent successors( no disrespect, he was decent in the part just a shame about the costume. And of course the repulsive imposition of woke propaganda makes thingss worse.

Notice how he says about the Doctor.. 'I became recognisable'' rather than 'I became famous'. That tells you that he has character, rather than merely being a character..

My favourite Doctor Who the Third Doctor Jon Pertwee he will be missed very terribly when a reunion of all the Doctors happen. From William Hartnell's First Doctor Who to Ncuti Gatwa's Fifteenth Doctor Who. There have been 15 Doctor Whos. Let's See: First Doctor Who William Hartnell Second Doctor Who Patrick Troughton Third Doctor Who Jon Pertwee Fourth Doctor Who Tom Baker Fifth Doctor Who Peter Davison Sixth Doctor Who Colin Baker Seventh Doctor Who Sylvester McCoy Eighth Doctor Who Paul McGann Ninth Doctor Who Christopher Eccleston Tenth Doctor Who David Tennant Eleventh Doctor Who Matt Smith Twelfth Doctor Who Peter Capaldi Thirteenth Doctor Who Jodie Whittaker Fourteenth Doctor Who David Tennant who was previously the Tenth Doctor Who Fifteenth Doctor Who Ncuti Gatwa. But sadly the Third Doctor Who actor Jon Pertwee passed away in 1995. A month after his final Third Doctor Who interview.

He had "aged" so much in the 2 years since Panopticon it was a sign he wasn't well. This is during the time where reports of him being rude and cruel to others. Heart Failure can do that. Victims feel just awful even if there's no chest pain associated with it. John was always associated with physical fitness I wonder if his time doing Worzel weren't that kind to him.

@kingofireland91 Quite.. but the actual part - or character- was already famous before the advent of Tom Baker.. and anyone who played it became 'famous for playing Dr Who'. I should think instant recognizability by millions of householders in Britain constitutes 'fame' in the prosaic televisual sense (not the 'olympian' sense of course ), whether in 1972, 1977 or 2011. My point was that his choice of words denotes his lack of ego. He was famous for playing the role in his own day after all..

@Lytton333 Back then it was recognisable. It was Baker that made the character famous, and immortalised it, because before the new series, you ask of Doctor Who and the reply is usually Tom Baker or the 4th Doctor. But for me, Pertwee is my favourite after Smith and Tennant.
