This is useful, truthful information that needs to be revisited over & over till it is inculcated in our minds. Most historical event to lead us back to our beloved country, the Hawaiian Kingdom. Understanding the mindset of the people in the time of change is imperative. When we all finally get it, then as a people of this country can we move forward to being the people of this country not American but Hawaiian in its true sense. Mahalo Dr. Willie Kauai. We all need to spend our time and resources from a hawaiian perspective.

My great grans fit in that pie...I am a national of Hawaii via my parents and I was born on Oahu. Is there a way us to make our way back to Hawaii, a path through nationalism? The islands are calling me back home and I have much to offer. This is interesting and fascinating time in Hawaii's history!! And about time. I believe Truth always wins. I know too, that it can take time as we see here. I love this...

As a third and 4th generation Japanese American raised in HI from 18 months to 18 years of age, I would claim my Hawaiian citizenship on my great my maternal grandfather Sumida, who worked on a Kauai sugar plantation in the 1870's, and is buried with my maternal grandmother in Millilani.

That is why the sugar planters brought in the Portuguese lunas to supervise the cane field workers, later the Filipinos from the new colony of the Philippines, the new colony, taken by the US Manifest Destiny political Congress the Spanish American War that was in 1898; and then all the other "white" European immigrants.

Queen Lili'uokalani said in one of her speeches that, "there is going to be a new breed of Hawaiian people". She knew that our Maoli blood would be watered down. Our Moali % will reduce and today, be lower than 1/4 or way less then our Kupuna back then.

The instances where a foreign population was allowed to stay (at the discretion of the occupied country) after the end of an occupation are where those foreigners were ALREADY in the country prior to the occupation, NOT (as is our case for the majority) when that foreign population was brought in ILLEGALLY by violating the international law Article 49, sixth paragraph, of the 1949 Geneva Convention IV: “The Occupying Power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies.”. That means that everyone who arrived after the illegal overthrow (& effectively their descendants as well) arrived illegally & must leave. You can’t seriously think it’s a good idea to allow nearly a million foreigners who are loyal to a foreign country, a foreign country that aided in our illegal overthrow & has occupied us for over a hundred years, to stay and be the national majority, that’s stupid! Have we not learned by the mistakes of our kūpuna?!? See this is why Keanu, Willie & Donovan are losing supporters, they’re ALREADY prioritizing foreigners over Hawaiians & the occupation hasn’t even ended yet.

No, and I understand while listening we have been indoctrinated as to terminology...the islands south of Hawai'i Island of whom King Liholiho says not to just take but ask the inhabitants...is NOT to be a part of the United States but the Hawaiian Kingdom...it's a slip....but we must be aware of misstatements in our enthusiasm. Am I correct in stating the `flub` is 1:33:16? But, not to be a complete wanker in regards to this excellent presentation I completely appreciate this presentation. And, I personally did thank the Lecturer.

Addressing the lady talking about returning to old Hawaii pre-kingdom. You need to listen better. Dr. Kauai talked about how the Kingdom was appropriating all the best things from other cultures because it was willing to evolve to become the BEST. We should do things because its the most efficient not because it's what they always did. I will say this, as a Hawaiian, I will not return to a pre-industrial agrarian feudal society. When Hawaii is liberated it will become a future technocracy that it was always meant to be.

I think Dr. Kauai is cherry picking or in accurate as to the Chinese Exclusion Act. In 1882 the US did pass the Chinese Exclusion Act but the Hawaii legislature also passed legislation restricting Chinese immigration into Hawaii as well. When Hawaii became a US territory in 1900 the Chinese Exclusion Act then started to apply to Hawaii however Hawaii already had 18 year old legislation on the books restricting Chinese immigration. The legislation was passed before the overthrow of the Kingdom. So yes there was Chinese oppression and it was by both the US and the Hawaiian Kingdom. Not by just the US as the speaker would like us to believe. FYI median home prices were never $1,000,000 in Hawaii . At the time of this lecture last year they were around $743,000. He's off by about 25% which is a significant margin when we are talking about home prices. As far as the quality of UH education being degraded by US occupation and thus is now not as good as would have been without it is a misrepresentation in my opinion. Hawaiians were by many accounts denied an education at UH for some time but that's a completely different issue than the quality of the education itself. I think any logical person knows the US probably raised the educational standards, not lowered them and I say that not as an insult to Kanakas but only to point out that despite it's shortcomings the US did university education just about as well as any country in the world which is still true today. Saying the US is in a downturn and now people of Hawaii need to know how to swim on there own is not a fair statement and grossly exaggerates the topic. First, the economic numbers don't support what he is saying. Secondly, all countries have ups and downs. America on a real downturn is still far better than when the vast majority of other countries are at their best. That's why people from all over the world want to immigrate here. Dr. Kauai has a tendency, at least in this lecture to exaggerate and I'm only through the first 36 mins. He's undermining his own credibility.

I see that the speaker did lightly address my first item but only after being asked by a member of the audience. Should have been included in the body of his lecture. Somehow the 1882 legislation passed by the Kingdom of Hawaii wan't as bad as the Chinese Exclusion Act passed by the US of the same year because it wasn't done by white people is how he explained it.

Okay but you seem to forget that the the overthrow was just the strike of American influence in Hawaiian politics. Do you not remember the effects of the bayonet constitution? I’m not REALLY argue the specifics of your argument to play down this lecture on if the HK also passed an act to restrict the Chinese, cause I’m sure your right. But the whole flow and point of his lecture was to show how Hawaiians were FOR unity, so it’s hard for me to believe the ‘Hawaiians’ whom were in complete control to the HK would suddenly just flip the script all of a sudden. Also! If you are actually paying attention instead of looking for things to argue about and ultimately try to prove this preconceived notion you must of had about him, you would remember him saying the Hawaiians were helping the Chinese NOT work on their plantation and become business owners, thus gaining power and influence Which is a huge FU to the Americans who brought they asses over in the first place to exploit cheap labor, and now they’ve not only aren’t working for me but working for themselves?!? With the Hawaiians?? No no! F that! So let’s draft up a law banning anymore of these yellow squints immigrants from coming over and hit the japenese up and offer a better deal so they don’t do the exact same thing the Chinese just did. And the forced bayonet constitution to remove Hawaiians supreme authority was during kalakaua’s throne right? Surely wayyyyy before 11 years before the overthrow. And mind you, the American businessmen had influence in the HK even before that! I would attack your whole rant of false conclusions and sophisticated idiocy but I feel I wasted enough of my time explaining this shit to you, and I’m not even a the well studied into Hawaiian history. Literally just watch several lectures on YT. So I really hope your just a smart dumbass and not some fool who watches 36 minutes of a guy you think is full of shit then takes wastes even more of their time to post a long ass comment to the dumb ass believe who believes this guy who’s apparently full of shit. Oh wait, nevermind, YOU AREEEE JUST TRYING TO DISCREDIT THIS GUY ARNT YOU?!? HMMmmm 🤭 Nice try buddy, but lKeel doing it because efforts to discredit, once caught, actually validates the information, right? Cause you would try to discredit anything that doesn’t have any validity in the first place, right right??? 😳 😍😍😍 ahh yes, 1 US and YOU -1 since that shit Just backfired😂😂

The kingdom essentially became a republic in 1843 as Kings created three branches of government and surrendered to democratic rules. Kalakaua's constitution was never under duress. Liliuokalani was never under duress. All power rested in the legislature. Liliuokalani's abdication and oath of loyalty to the republic became law and the incumbent government continued as an internationally recognized Republic. The joint resolution between the USA and the Republic of Hawaii was 100% legal. The only insurgency was the Emma-ites and later the royalists in the Wilcox revolution. The US/Hawaii protection treaties were in effect since 1826. The marines that came ashore were to keep the mob from hanging Liliuokalani for treason against the state and the people. At that time their were twice as many Japanese (Pacific Gibraltar) but you revisionists always like to point the finger at White men .... All Kings; beginning with Kamehameha 1 making John Young governor of Oahu to Bishop and Stevens, put men of all races into government position. The 93% vote for statehood was, and is still completely legal. Sai's books should be removed from any school as he commits every logical fallacy upon naive listeners like Ruggles and those seeking confirmation bias for racism and failures to succeed through identity politics. The only reason Hawaii is not a Communist Chinese territory is the nuclear subs that patrol these waters. The Royal dictatorship ended the caste and Kapu system @ Kamehameha 2,3,4 and Kalakaua finalize the republic by bring the nobles into the legislature. This is echos of the royalist revolutionaries of 1876 when Kalakaua first called the marines in to stop the riots. History repeating itself as another faction seeks a power grab, racial separatism and apartheid. The US Constitution and Kamehameha 3's constitution are identical. The same three branches of government still rule today. From 1843 till 1960 Hawaii was under a republican form of government. The most advanced system on the planet. The Socialists stole and remained in power for these 58 years. Thus the real demise of this archipelago. May we citizens of The State of Hawaii one day find unity and solve the real issues facing us, food independence, jobs for our children and better infrastructure. Blessings. LILIUOKALANIS ABDICATION DOCUMENT: ISLAND OF OAHU, HONOLULU, Jan. 24, 1895. TO THE HON. SANFORD BALLARD DOLE, President of the Republic of Hawaii: SIR: -- After full and free consultation with my personal friends and with my legal advisors and acting in conformity with their advice, and also upon my own free volition, and in pursuance of my unalterable belief and understanding of my duty to the people of Hawaii, and to their highest and best interests, and also for the sake of those misguided Hawaiians and others who have recently engaged in rebellion against the Republic, and in an attempt to restore me to the position of queen, which I held prior to the 17th day of January, A. D. 1893, and without any claim that shall become entitled, by reason of anything that I may now say or do, to any other or different treatment or consideration at the hands of the Government than I otherwise could and might legally receive, I now desire to express and make known, and do hereby express and make known, to yourself, as the only lawful and recognized head of the Government, and to all the people of the Hawaiian Islands, whether or not they have yet become citizens of the Republic, or are or have been adherents of the late monarchy, and also to all diplomatic and other foreign representatives in the Hawaiian Islands, to all of whom I respectfully request you to cause this statement and action of mine to be made known as soon as may be, as follows, namely: First. In order to avoid any possibility of doubt or misunderstanding although I do not think that any doubt or misunderstanding is either proper or possible, I hereby do fully and unequivocally admit and declare that the Government of the Republic of Hawaii is the only lawful Government of the Hawaiian Islands, and that the late Hawaiian monarchy is finally and forever ended, and no longer of any legal or actual validity, force or effect whatsoever; and I do hereby forever absolve all persons whomsoever, whether in the Hawaiian Islands or elsewhere, from all and every manner of allegiance, or official obligation or duty, to me and my heirs and successors forever, and I hereby declare to all such persons in the Hawaiian Islands that I consider them as bound in duty and honor henceforth to support and sustain the Government of the Republic of Hawaii. Second. For myself, my heirs and successors, I do hereby and without any mental reservation or modification, and fully, finally, unequivocally, irrevocably, and forever abdicate, renounce and release unto the Government of the Republic of Hawaii and the legitimate successors forever all claims or pretensions whatsoever to the late throne of Hawaii, or to the late monarchy of Hawaii, or to any past, or to the existing, or to any future Government of Hawaii, or under or by reason of any present or formerly existing constitution, statute, law, position, right or claim of any and every kind, name or nature whatsoever, and whether the same consist of pecuniary or property considerations, or of personal status, hereby forever renouncing, disowning and disclaiming all rights, claims, demands, privileges, honors, emoluments, titles and prerogatives whatsoever, under or by virtue of any former, or the existing Government, constitution, statute, law or custom of the Hawaiian Islands whatsoever, save and excepting only such rights and privileges as belong to me in common with all private citizens of, or residents in the Republic of Hawaii. Third. I do hereby respectfully implore for such misguided Hawaiians and others as have been concerned in the late rebellion against the Republic of Hawaii, such degree of executive clemency as the Government may deem to be consistent with its duty to the community, and such as a due regard for its violated laws may permit. Fourth. It is my sincere desire henceforth to live in absolute privacy and retirement from all publicity, or even appearance of being concerned in the public affairs of the Hawaiian Islands, further than to express, as I now do and shall always continue to do, my most sincere hope for the welfare and prosperity of its people, under and subject to the Government of the Republic of Hawaii. Fifth. I hereby offer and present my duly certified oath of allegiance to the Republic of Hawaii. Sixth. I have caused the foregoing statement to be prepared and drawn, and have signed the same without having received the slightest suggestion from the President of Hawaii, or from any member of the Government of Hawaii, concerning the same or any part thereof, or concerning any action or course of my own in the premises. Relying upon the magnanimity of the Government of the Republic, and upon its protection. I have the honor to be, Mr. President, Very respectfully, Your most obedient servant, (Signed) LILIUOKALANI DOMINIS.
