GT4s feel like your sat on the floor, with your eyes just peeping above the window line and the seats are really uncomfortable and unadjustable, some people may like that but I hate it. If you want one of these, get yourself a 981 6 cylinder Boxster S or GTS instead (much better than the later 718) and with PDK/launch control much faster than these two cars above as it will hit 60 in 4.1 secs and 1/4 mile in 12.7. You'll also have the wind in your hair whenever you want. PDK is lightning fast and wonderful, and it's just as much fun to whip through the gears using paddles on the steering wheel as it is in a manual if you want to interact yourself. Remember these cars were built ground up as an open top.... the Cayman just added a roof to the existing Boxster (it's a Boxster with a roof) and therefore there is absolutely no difference in handling, unlike cars which were designed with a roof and then had it cut off to make the soft top.
@@woodstreet8214 The standard 720S is already 150hp more than the Turbo S (check the dyno tests online, 720S is around 800hp and not the official 710hp)). So, the 765 will have in all probability be around 200hp more and 200kg lighter too. Still, I reckon the Turbo S will give it a run for its money.
lol turbo s will eat that mcclaren alive. in fact i think i've seen the 765 go and it was slow af i seen it SOMEWHERE just can't remember where but it was slower than the 720
As a long time bmw owner... I’m taking the gt4 without a second thought. I don’t care that the m2 is faster, the gt4 is more beautiful as well as a better drivers car and sounds a lot better too. The driving experience is what means the most to me.
Loving this series Noodles & Paul. Wonder if there will be another drag racing series or hoping for more on road comparisons and track content. Almost at 200k subscribers guys. You guys thoroughly deserve more. Beautiful filming and editing.
That's very kind of you to say! Wednesday's are drag races, Sundays are features. Lots of good stuff to come and a pleasure to have you along for the ride!
I'd watch anything with Tiif in it - great driver, funny, just the right amount of immodest - he's perfect. I've not watched a lot of content with Mr Woodman in it, but he's great and seems to complement Tiff perfectly.
Awesome and fun drag race. Both presenters are fantastic and so natural. Keep up the awesome videos. Tiff for me is the greatest ever bar none. Glad to see him still behind the wheel. God Bless from South Africa.
Quality video. I love the Beamer and had a few. However there is nothing quite like a Porsche. No matter what it defies logic And is always there up with the best quality, gearboxes, handling and speed. This channel is turning out to be one of the best on RU-vid. Old tiff has still got it and it’s a good balance between the two. Congrats and keep it up!
Guys love the vids but please do best out of 3 or something. Or even warm up the tyres before. It would also be nice to see a rolling race. Let’s say from 60/70mph like they would do on a autobahn. This would make it fairer and more real world and people would love this. Great race though!
Thanks for the message and feedback. We are on a tiny budget. We do short and sharp videos so we can fit more in and provide more variety. Making videos doesn't pay as it is, but if we focus half a day on rolling starts, best of 3 and so on, we would be packing up shop! Hope you understand. Once we get to a decent level we can really start doing some exciting addons
The 718 GT4 was actually a tad slower in German Sport Auto’s test all the way til 0-200 km/h acceleration times. No wonder, the 718 GT4 is 70 kg heavier than the 981 GT4. Plus, at dyno tests, the new one seem to struggle to match the claimed 420 hp (ps) - even 400 hp is a swetty job for it.
Really enjoyed the Video! But i keep thinking it is kind of a missed opportunity. I think those two cars represent somewhat the pinnacle in handling from BMW and Porsche and it would be very interesting how they compare in that regard
Yup completely get it. Did you see our M2 CS feature? That's pretty cool. And as with a most of the drag races we do on here, lots are privately owned cars who aren't too keen on us taking around a track!
Lovecars yes i did see it and i liked it very much. I can understand that! I just wanted to get this feeling across not accuse you or anything. Keep up the good work!
We are stupid. We should have saved all that time and just showed 12 seconds of the race. Will speak to the team and look at launching a new 12 second drag race series 👍
@@lovecarsTV i wasnt bashing haha..i still watched the whole thing but i just like to throw a time stamp bc sometimes ill rewatch a video and when i do i just find my comment and hit time stamp
The 981 GT4 is not on the OEM tyres. The GT4 was never homologated with P-Zero tyres, and the P-Zeros on this GT4 is also an older model. Was the owner running the GT4 on a tight budget?
A lot of spinning. This was the right spinning. Top professional start combined with the sound of a flat-six screaming "Com' on, let's do this". That's why it's always better to have traction and all the tech off. Then we see always these great races.
Using manuals for these drag races means that driver error is too great of a factor. Using only automatics would give much more accurate and consistent results
@@lovecarsTV Thank you for the good content - which comes for free into my house on top. I remember to have paid a lot of money for TV Subscriptions which had content that was not even close to that in terms of quality and entertainment. So I can really appreciate that.
Please make these best two out of three, i feel like Tiff could have won if his shift to second was better :D ( and maybe do rolling races like Carwow etc, but mostly, please do more than one run, particularly in close races :) ).
It is very easy to shift too fast when pushing those cars to their limit. This puts a lot of strain on the drivetrain, and I know from personal experience ($$$) that at least BMW is not robust in that area. Maybe they count on ripping-off customers who inevitably overstress their weak parts and end-up paying for it, I don't know. So if something goes wrong, which is likely, budget around 5-10 thousands of pounds for gearbox and/or clutch/flywheel replacement, in case manufacturer denies warranty claiming you were abusing their car. In my case it started with a simple grind when shifting to second, and I ended up with 2 gearboxes replaced, and a clutch/dual-mass flywheel replaced. And I am an experienced and careful manual transmission driver, and wasn't ever racing or abusing the car.
Aha yes you are right, thanks! Both bloody stunning... and it featured very highly in Henry Catchpole and Evo crew's opinions on their epic COTY shoot!
So refreshing to see two manual cars going at it with abit of driver involvement and skill needed rather than the usual launch control (yawn) awesome drag guys! And a gen 2 gt4 would have the bmw licked 😋
Chris, honest answer is we didn't do them as it would have been cheating the viewer. We did it on a track that is just short of the official ¼ mile so we chose to leave it off completely
@@lovecarsTV thanks for the fast and honest answer. Great seeing the different cars and it really shows how much manual shifts impact these cars. Keep up the excellent work!
Neither car is meant for drag racing. Especially the GT4. Tall long gears. I know this gets the clicks but I'd much rather see a track time comparison.
Awesome channel, but as a viewer I’d suggest you get right into the drag race from the beginning with a minimum of 2 mins intro and stats on the cars. Then you could use up all the remaining time to do a rolling race for example. I’m sure most of the people would agree with me on that point. But otherwise, great video 🤙🏼
Thanks Ahmed. As soon as our numbers start to increase and we have more budget we will start getting more elaborate and detailed, but for now we have precious time which only allows for one race - no second chances! Rome wasn't built in a day :)
The GT4 is using less sticky tyres than regular fitments. Normally semi-slick of Michelin Cup 2s or Dunlop Race Maxx‘s. Here it is regular Pirelli Pzeros - not really a good choice for dry grip - too much wheel spin. Normally it has almost none.
Nah GT4 is manual- they're adding PDK to the new GT4 literally this month as a new option. M2 can also have a DCT though so it's fairly irrelevant. Cayman is a much nicer car though, I just bought a 981 S and the M2 didn't even make my top 10 list.
great race and very interesting outcome, should have made it best of two... to be sure, and give the old guy a second chance, after all the CS probably had fresher rubber....no excuses mind you, Tiff he is going to be crowing about that win for years two similar cars both ICE with a manual box and he beat you..... great stuff guys :-) I will say this very quietly WELL DONE PAUL! :-)
@@lovecarsTV keep it up Paul you are both great sports and we luv the banter between you, all honest friendly fun.... given how close this was a sequel with a lap time of each would be very interesting... then Tiff can showboat for us again.... :-)
We will thank you now. THANK YOU JUSTIN!! Thank you now, from the bottom of our hearts! We are so stupid to explain the format and tell people about the cars. Could have saved so much time, money and effort if we simply showed the 11 seconds of the race. Thank you for pointing this out!!
