Taking the 1LE down to Royal Purple Raceway for some drag racing against a few cars faster than mine. I've figured out how to launch the car on the street, however launching on the track is MUCH different. Practice makes perfect I suppose!

You're running too much tire pressure in your drag radials Riley. A lot of drag radial guys like 16-20#. The only problem with running less than 20# is at the back end of run the rear gets a bit light and floaty, which can be disconcerting the first few times you experience it. You will 60ft better though.

The 1LE is kind of the wrong car for drag racing (more for road courses etc.), an auto SS would have been better. But you probably already know that.

Did great man for first time! I was running 12's with the Z06 when I first started lol. Try 15psi and leaving right when the third bulb goes off rather than waiting on green.

street speed,, how would leaving on the third bulb rather then waiting on the green do anything for his 'time' ? 1/4 mile clock for your official time only starts when you take off and cross the line, no matter if you red light , or you sit there for 30 seconds after guy next to you leaves.. it only clocks your personal 1/4 mile

I wanna see RP on a road course with the 1LE. No autocross bullshit. Everyone on RU-vid buys a damn car and takes it to the drag strip for bragging rights/ just to make a video etc.. a race track w/ actual turns involved would be a showcase to what GM boast about the 1LE being so good at? Chevy camaros are great cars but you will definitely need a nice tune if your trying to crack low low 12s or high 11s. Especially if your going to run a 30 roll against that SRT. Camaros are being built for top end power not low end as much even though do have great low end power but without a tune that 392 will eat you from a 30 roll as proven. Get a tune and a you will be good to go bro. And I have a 5th gen SS by the way great cars no doubt👍

The 392 was built to make low end grunt because of how much the cars weigh. They had other versions of it making 500hp but less bottom end torque and the engineers said it wasn't as good as the low end torque version.

Check your tires and what prep number the drag strip is prepped too as your running Nittos! Some tires (like Nittos) need a track prep to 10, but most drag strips prep from 1-5 (assuming like the track you're at), however for Nittos you need to prep to a 10 so it can hook properly and not have the tires skip, as I saw happen to your car, tires skipping and then all of a sudden hooking will blow you different and cause damage to axels, and diff. Nittos need a lot of rubber, not the pimp juice they put on the track! Good luck at the next drag race! Try Mickey Thompson's next time, 99% of the drag strips are prepared so that they hook hard, and hopefully, you can better your 1/4 mile! GOOD LUCK! @RP Productions

Some others have given advice but from a guy with over 1000 passes to his name, half are in a manual f-body which was just as hard to launch right. The trick is to lower the tires to about 12psi, do a burnout with enough smoke to cover the back of the car, and launch about 1200rpm. Not a clutch dump, but a swift release while also flooring the gas. When your completely off the clutch, you should be at full throttle. Get it right and by the 60 foot mark you should be at full throttle cookin down the 1320! It does take practice but you dont need to launch at 4000+ rpm with a clutch dump. You just need to get the car moving and let the torque do the rest. Practice it on the street, if you can launch without spinning, you got it down!

I have a 16 SS and I can tell you stock it is def NOT an 11 second car. However, I am running low 11's FOB on 85 and I know a guy with a 1SS running only a intake, MSD manifold, E85 and tire who ran a 10.8 with an A8 at capitol raceway. That is insane for a NA car that runs mid\low 12's stock.

Hey Riley, fellow 6gen 1LE owner. Have you tried launching in Track mode under the "Race" traction management (when you double click for competitive modes)? Apparently that sets launch control for drag strip conditions.

Would love to see you focus a video on how to launch the car, using LC. Clearly there is more to it that 1,2,3. I haven't found a place to try it out yet in my ZL1 but I also have the 6 speed. Hard to tell what they mean by "quickly and smoothly release the clutch". Very subjective!

Try working up to 3000 rpm. Start at 2000 work in that roll before busting lose. I’m getting lower times with bone stock 2018 1le.

His car is 4330lbs with him in it so I have a decent weight advantage but he has 125 more HP. Doing a roll race with him is even more surprising; they're almost dead even until 120 from a 30 roll.

At 9:05 B. Mason just about pulled it off, even though the Z-L jumped at the start. Challenger is just a nicer car all around, and SRT moves pretty damn quick for a 4K plus beast. That really says a lot for that 392 Hemi motor though, its pretty incredible. If you like them or not, you have got to admit that it is.

Drag racing a 1LE is an act of futility. We run 1000' here where I live and I ran a 10.8 in the 1000' when I was stock in my 2015 1LE, which would be about what you are running now. Your car should be running at least a 10.20-10.30 in the 1000. Especially on drag radials. Keep practicing.

My only advice since I run the same drag radial on my 5th gen. Cold pressure for rears should be 16-18 PSI and want your fronts 36 PSI or more. Leave traction control and stability off. Drive around water box. Back into waterbox then roll forward a bit. Do a decent burnout. Then don't stage completely until other guy is ready. I usually roll forward to first set of lights and then once the other guy starts rolling forward then I roll to light the second set.

The Nitto 555r's aren't that great. You have to get them the perfect temp for performance. Try getting them hotter during the burn out. Stock, your car is capable of low 12's with DR's you should be in the 11's with the DA you had at that track.

A manual transmission is fun ti drive, but if you are racing a auto trans with nearly equal power. The manual will lose most of the time. Sorry but you just can't shift fast enough with a manual. That's why all the exotics and now vettes and GTR etc comes with automatic paddle shifts.

This is why the stick is a definite no no! Im old school and I like sticks, I used to think they're faster and you can manipulate their powerband… but I/ you have to admit as we all know the automatic is more functional and more dedicated to getting everything out of your motor. By the way man I enjoy your videos especially that 1 with slim thug I think that was hella cool that you got to kick it and meet that man... that's tight!!!

1st it's never good to take a track car with a manual to the drag strip. 2nd I can tell you the suspension on these is waaayyyy to soft. mix that with wheel-hop and not knowing shift points leads to poor times. There are lots of 6th gen auto's with minor BMR mods running low 12's and prolly some glory pulls in the high 11's.

I have a new M6 1LE. The only mods have been a tune for sea level (I'm in FL). With drag radials, I ran a 12.40 at 115mph. The weather was cool with pretty low humidity for FL. I'm not much of a drag racer, I prefer road racing where the 1LE really shines. But 12.40's for a small block car that weighs 3800 lbs is damn fast. The electronic diff is really helping out here.

On a cooler day you can hit 12.4-12.5s easy on the camaro 6 forum a stock Manual has hit 12.1 so once you get a good launch and weather you'll be smoking some folks

my brother's 03 Z06 will run 7.80 1/8's 91mph on a bridgestone street tire with only longtubes... you either got to rev it up a little more maybe 4000-4300 and come out harder... you are not hooking near as well... maybe throw a set of gold clubs in the trunk... it would be nice if there were a drag package program for the magnetic suspension... seems to me it would be easy... quick passage of fluid on rebound(extension) for the front and then stiffen the fluid so it settles slowly to keep the weight back... soft on compression for the rear.

change all your bushings in the rear suspension to reduce wheel hop. toe arm upper lower control arms, rear diff, rear cradle bushings. Rubber in your suspension slows your 60' times.

bring your rpm's up to around 4800 if you are bogging. or air up the tires around 28 and bring the rpm down to 3900....

You're on drag radials and you're doing a burnout like you're on street tires. Warm them up a bit more on the first burnout of the night and then every other pass after that, just spin them to knock all the rocks off

Gotta get that rear suspension stiffened up. New bushings, control arms, trailing arms, etc will almost eliminate wheel hop.

honestly......the problem is the nittos. Its a street/strip tire, specifically the 555rs.........cough...still a street tire. Theres your problem. You're better off with the stock tires running those times............not trying to make fun, but those are some sad times to be running despite being on a street radial. Only sad because you spent money on tires and your running stock times when you factor in the DA.

now i had those same tires on my GTO.......as a 245, and launched harder than your car does, but that was with a crappy 2 piece driveshaft. Moral of that story is, your driveline is too strong for those tires, and when you slip the clutch too slow, then you bog. You want spin, but the nittos sidewalls aren't doing anything better than a stock 6gen tire would

The big difference is the transmission. 392's with that 8 speed. automatic transmissions are more consistent. quicker shifts

You need to do a longer burnout. Rev it up dump the clutch quickly move clutch foot to brake pedal. Do a burn out until you see good smoke let off brake let the car spin. To launch rev to 5000rpm +- let clutch out medium speed.

It does but essentially it's a 4k rpm clutch dump and I'm worried I'll snap a half shaft.

That would be slower anyway. Once he gets more practice in he should be able to out perform the factory launch control consistently. An aftermarket line lock with a trigger release on the wheel would help because you can preload the car. Then all he has to do is figure out exactly what rpm to dump the clutch.

all the cars you raced had more horsepower or shorter ratio gears....dont feel so bad..12.8for first run aint bad either...

I have the same car and ran a 2.039 60ft... 12.641@113.09. Density alt of 1340ft bone stock. 6 spd in Arizona. not great traction. Should be using sport mode with tc button pressed twice(launch mode). Also do you lift when you shift? That could easily be worth a tenth or more...on drag radials you should be hitting low 12s.

No lift shifting the entire time. That time with your DA puts us very close to the same time after the correction factor. I've used the launch control before but I'm worried I'll snap a half shaft doing clutch dumps at 4k.

RP Productions my car was bone stock you shouldnt be running the same time with parts you have. I was launching at about 2-2500rpm and going full throttle by 10-15ft out, hit a best 60ft of 1.96. I wouldnt be too worried as the 1le has a better half shaft die to e-diff and GM changed the suppliers due to quality issues. lookup fireball camaro. Dropping nitrous and on radials, broke a shaft after a ton of passes.(2016 model year). I have faith you can get into the low 12s/high 11s. maybe work on your shifts you are dropping almost a full quarter second from 60ft to 8th vs my time. Performance tuning setting on the pdr will give you 0-60, 0-100, and 1/4 times just a fyi.

I would try a bias ply tire, as large as you can fit, with the suspension set to stiff and slip the clutch more. I know the DR is appealing but it would be better suited for an auto car. A bias ply should really improve your 60ft.

Marc Lavin I disagree in this case the drag radial should work great. I think he needs more heat and more clutch feathering/throttle input off the line. I assume he drove this to the track and it has radials on the front, you shouldn't mix and match the two types.

I wasn't really focusing on the reaction time, was primarily focused on the clutch release/throttle application.

Its just not the 6th gen....its the 5th gen and Mustang manuals are tough for joe average to launch. What your car can do is something other then what you can get it to do. Looks like a good day thats for sure.

I also have a 17 manual 1le. Last week when it was pouring rain, I attempted a burnout in the rain and all I got was wheel hop. Which surprised me. RP maybe more 4K RPM will help the take off... I usual do roll racing not many digs.
