The issue with this scene wasn't really the in betweens. The scene is just poorly boarded. Goku's movement are so slow clunky and awkward. It's no wonder beerus beat him.
I’m late, but if they did, then everyone would expect them to do the same for Goku Black and TOP saga. And to be honest, it’s gonna be hell and a lotta money outta the window for DBS movie quality
Play at .25 speed and watch in 720p. Not defending the South Korean 4 week whip job isn't still in effect on part 1 and 2 of Super, but it is night and day in terms of fluidity and keyframe detail.
Honestly even if Shida did this with all the time in the world the choreography is so awful that no amount of awesome art or even animation fluidity could have made this battle cool.
the ssj3 part was kinda good (was it Tate's cut?) Edit: Rewatching 2 years later with more knowledge in animation, this scene isn’t actually that bad. The art was off but the animation itself was actually pretty solid especially after transforming to ssj3.
I like that they took the extra mile to edit the decently animated bits. It shows they cared. Its like oh okay, you really didnt have to do these parts, they were done good already, but thanks anyways
They had to, the level of hate super got for it's terrible animation and art is practically the reason we'll never get future arcs in a show format. If super hasn't been heavily corrected for the blu ray, even the decent parts, it wouldn't have sold shit, and probably still sold like shit. It's not that they care it's that there's no other choice now that the project started. Super is the new poster boy for bad animation and studio mismanagement. THE FUCKING BORUTO ANIME LOOKS BETTER VISUALLY. The original DB and DBZ look better visually. The original Naruto looks better visually. Evangelion at the end of the show looks better visually. Fucking SPONGEBOB has better animations and visuals. The fact a new DB anime was releasing for the first time in 2 decades, and this is the result, shows how little respect they had. If the studio cared at all, they would've taken the Naruto route, and kept a buffer between the manga and anime so the animation team would have time to actually animate, instead of doing weekly episodes.
If toei would have taken the proper amount of time it takes to give a great show like dragonball movie quality art, animation, choreography and storytelling then super could have nothing but good looking episodes but sadly toei likes to rush the series out the door just to get quick money I think the company that produces attack on titan needs to take over because they took their time to make the show look as good as it does. Also unfortunately toei has not learned from their mistake because they're bringing back dragonball super with episodes every week instead of taking their time. They also need to quit with the censoring of blood in dragonball this great show was never meant for just kids it was meant for teens and older.
The animation is good, even in the broadcast version, its just the fight scene or choreo is shit, i dont mind with in between frame look shit like that (ex : naruto vs pain) as long the animation is amazing
I’d imagine it’s a time issue only because of how terrible the fight actually is. Even if the issue was money, talented animators could still portray some interesting choreography, some interesting angles and frames, but we get none of that. We get the most boring fight ever. There’s literally no creativity in this whatsoever. That’s usually a time issue not a money issue.
At each episode I hoped the artists did a good job with the art, because as fan of DB/DBZ (my favorite anime), is hard to watch a series that like so much, with such an art and animation. God, the studio as done countless animes and none of them looked like this on TV. I hope super 2 or whatever they'll call it, comes out with good art from the beginning, I'm not even asking excellent, I'm just asking to be better than this.
Not a very significant improvement, the animation is better but the visual quality is still terrible. You're still better off just skipiing Episode 5's version of this fight and watch the Battle of Gods version instead.
Even the worst looking episodes of DBZ and DBGT look better than this, and I have yet to see the show. I have to admit that even the "good" looking animated clips I've seen on RU-vid make me not interested in Super. The animation, in general, looks weird compared to the 80s and 90s stuff.
