The "dodge joke" in this episode is my favorite, why? Gohan chose to fufill a ancient alien profecy instead of simply moving a few meters to the right.

Fun fact: in the german dub of dbz perfect cell actually does say “Oh Shit!” at the final flash

Trunks had never surpassed Vegeta. He thought that he found a stage beyond Ascended Super Saiyan, while in fact Vegeta already knew about the two stages. Vegeta simply chose the first stage, because he knew the second buff form would slow him down far too much. Hence he went to charge up all of his energy for the Final Flash provoking Cell instead. At this point Trunks thinks that he can win by just roiding up, but doesn't realise yet that the next form compromises speed by a lot.

The parts with Perfect Cell are some TFS' best work in my humble opinion.

The main thing I hate about the next episode is that people think trunks was stronger than vegeta during the cell saga even tho it's explained both vegeta and goku knew about the form he used but chose not to use it because unlike trunks they understood the downside to using it

What is so weird about this one is that except for Goku, the entire episode is played entirely serious

Are you gonna watch the movies during the series or after you finish episode 60? Personally it might make more sense if you watch the movies sooner than later so it makes more sense with the plot

I'm glad TFS kept Vegeta's final flash theme in DBZA.

Funfact Vegetas Final Flash would have killed Cell. At this point if Vegeta didnt care about earth and aimed the beam further down to hit all of cell and vaporize him with no cells to regen from (its why trunks and Krillen were worried Vegeta would blow up the planet with the aim of the shot) or if cell was in the air it would work but vegeta curved it. The only reason Cell regened from his bomb was it was his own move made in him that actually didnt have enough force to kill his core. We see later of course beam vaporization would kill him. Most big beams are aimed up or horizontal on earth and multiple times you get warnings about firing beams down

And Trunks WAS NEVER stronger then Vegeta at any point in the cell or android sagas , Vegeta and Goku both can roid out like Trunks but they are somehow smart enough not to try it

I love that stinger of Hikari No Willpower at the end when Trunks is powering up. The actual song used next episode is f-ing fantastic. I always get pumped with that song.

>surpassed Vegeta He didn't. He was weaker form for form. He thought his next state gave him the edge. Vegeta had it, too. He knew better than to use it (Goku demonstrates it and points out the issue to Gohan who didn't get it either). >FF could have done some damage if it hit dead on Maybe. Unfortunately, likely not. Even with Perfect Cell in a resting state possibly below half power (what he used on Goku later) it did what it did. If he hit his head (where the core would be), in theory that should do it. Except AT had Goku (at an equal power to half of PC) land Kamehameha (trash though it is, still x2.2* modifier) and blow away the whole of his upper half. Somehow this didn't take out the core (which then made the lower half hop up **nonsense unless the core embedded back into that**). Cell must have really felt that bap from behind by Vegeta against Gohan as he and the boy seemed pretty even (once Gohan was weakened from injury) only to not only lose the struggle, but have ALL of him taken out (including the core). Seems like an asspull. Part of the reason people are a bit iffy with Cell in this case was how the sum of the parts should work. Saiyan cells offer zenkai (dropped everywhere else and not even factoring for other times he gets hurt seriously even the Warp KMHM, but he does for his self-destruct **inflicted on himself like Gokek's training in the gravity room with blasts hitting himself**). That probably should be offset by what comes next. His regen is from Namekian cells. When Piccolo losts limbs and such, regen notably drops his PL (as it would Nail and the rest). Offsets the ability a bit (as with damage to the head apparently being a no-go for this ability). His DNA from Cold's family offers survival in space (breathing nothing in a vacuum is dumb) and seemingly in terrible body condition for Frieza (Cold got a hole in the gut and just sort of whimpered like he was already dying). Frieza who got chopped in half. With just a bit of ki he was floating around like he was fine. Got half his head blown away in the next attack (plus a planet explosion) and presumably drifted in space (no canon showing of it) before rescue. Survived this (needed to be rebuilt as a cyborg, but didn't die from losing half his head). Saying Cell's version allows him to withstand the terrible state (destruction of most of his body including the head) and regen might be fine, but it is pushing really far for it to be just a cell cluster. Gero did some tinkering. More than that, it is apparently way more durable than him (and would remember his perfect state later). He regens and gets a zenkai without weakening from the serious recovery after near death (after resting, sure...get stronger). Really, Gokek's attack landing as it did should have killed Cell. Vegeta's attack in this case landing on the head should also probably have done it. Do I think it would based on what happened later? No. Not at all. Game seemed rigged. >wait for Goku To what? To job? To need help? Against Raditz? OHKO'd with knee to the gut. Had to die while holding the guy (after Gohan crippled the target) as Piccolo delivered death on them. Against Vegeta, Goku just got wrecked (others had to do the actual damage). Against Frieza, Goku wrecked himself with KKx20 before needing help to land SB and then needing help to not die right after that (only with SS did he win). 19? Got Corona'd. The reputation of Gokek saving the day is an unearned meme (mostly from non-canon material attempting to hype and damage control). What happens with Cell? He fights his half-power, he tuckers out, he quits, he gets beat up by Juniors (unlike Vegeta in canon), he stupidly dies using IT to send Cell away (no reason to get caught in the blast or die to it even if it landed where he took it) and...then he's a moral coach from Other World. Pathetic. That's what we waited for. Wait for that? Laughable.

I have been waiting for you to get to this episode for so long. It's one of my favourites.

Trunks technically never surpassed Vegeta. He just kept transforming (bulking up) to increase his power. Vegeta knew he would sacrifice his speed and Trunk's didnt know that and wrongly assumed he was stronger.

Trunks wasnt really stronger. He sacrificed speed for power. Vegeta knew that going too far with this is not gonna work against Cell or anyone with experience. In other words, Trunks made a rookie mistake by assuming having a higher power level/strength makes him stronger in combat.
