It just happens that the flower buds from my Palora and Colombiana yellow appeared at the same time, so it gives me an opportunity to observe their flower buds development and to compare difference of their flowers.
Thank you for watching my video. There are a lot of people in California growing dragon fruits. I think you should look for some local guys growing dragon fruits rather than buying from me. I am in Florida.
@@xiaoli2142 actually I have the common ones in my backyard already. But seems hard to get those yellow varieties you have. I tried growing from seeds and grafting but it was just too slow -:)
Now, they are in almost full sun, from 7 -4, only shade in late afternoon. When the sun goes lower like in late fall or winter, they have about 6 hours.
www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4242237/ This is a paper talked about the genetic relationship among different dragon fruit varieties. It has a very good photos of their crossing experiment but they call the yellow dragon fruit H. megalanthus, but I think it should be S. megalanthus, as this paper described: bsapubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.2307/2657005. You don't have to read the whole thing, just read the abstract and conclusion. I tried to pollinate Physical Graffiti with Palora pollen and it did not work. May be it is a rare event and it needs more tests to be successful.
