RE Engine is one of the best engines, it provides great graphics and reasonable system requirements. Resident Evil 4 Remake looks great and ran smoothly from start to finish, unlike other games I've played this year like Jedi Survivor and the disaster that was TLOU. Btw RE games are not VRAM hungry unless you let them ultra shadows looks the same as high but use 2-3gb less, 3GB high textures provide high res textures while everything above looks the same even 2GB still looks the same while 1gb starts to pop in and pop out sometimes.

"3GB high textures provide high res textures while everything above looks the same even 2GB still looks the same while 1gb starts to pop in and pop out sometimes." this is wrong. In fact, there are differences. It’s just that in kapkom games the texture quality is not applied to all textures at the same time, as in most games. For example, with medium textures, we may have most of the textures in high resolution, while some of the less significant textures on small objects will be in very poor quality. in fact, in Resident Evil there is no such thing as texture quality in the usual sense. There are only bad textures and good ones, without intermediate values. And the texture quality setting is not responsible for the actual quality of all textures, but for which part of the textures in the frame will be in high resolution and which in low resolution.

What about newer DOOM engine and it's 1000fps limit?
@Bulletsforfree
@Bulletsforfree 7 месяцев назад
The setting he talks about doesn't really equate to higher quality textures. The setting in RE4R can be understood as a texture cache setting. The higher it's set the less pop in you'll get, but it comes at a hefty price. If you don't have a gpu with a lot of vram you'll get spillover and very slow loading textures as a result. Setting it to the 8gb maximum is only really recommended for gpus with at least 16gb of vram. It has been a while since i played it, but at 1440p with the setting turned up all the way to 8gb the game used somewhere around 15gb of vram on my 7900XT.
@Extreme96PL
@Extreme96PL 7 месяцев назад
@@noobitonobombito9174 I didn't noticed anything out of place with high 3GB or even with high 2gb. High 1gb starts to pop in and pop out sometimes and going down to medium starts to degrade textures quality. Yeah I know how RE texture settings work i think Id tech engine and Northlight engine works the same.

In both the raster and RT the Nvidia requirements were generally 25% higher than the AMD requirements. Which seems about right for the RE engine. It is heavily console optimized.

@@rhythmmandal3377 Depends. If you're all about the ray tracing and upscaling then you paid $200 bucks and lost 4GB VRAM for the privilege. If you're perfectly good with only light ray tracing effects and will die on the hill called "native rendering" then you got screwed. Games that is expected to sell better on console than on PC will always be very well optimized for AMD. Games that are expected to sell very well on PC (or are PC exclusive) will be very well optimized for Nvidia as long as Nvidia can hold their majority market share.

These are probably my favorite videos of yours, Daniel. It's educational and helps inform people about performance scaling based on various CPU/GPU generations (and product tiers). It also has comedic value to watch you poke holes in the developer's recommended hardware when they incorrectly match up GPUs of different performance levels.

Ya, when Daniel was talking about Interlace it brought memories of the Amiga Computer back in the late80s/early90s. You used it to double your vertical resolution; for example 640x200 -> interlaced 640x400... and it was annoying how it flickered....I wish computers were simplier yet powerful; on the intel/microsoft platform it is annoying and frustrating to use.

The "Interlacing" in RE-Engine games is better known as "Checkerboarding", as you said yourself Daniel, it is a form of upscaling that was super common in PS4 and Xbox One games by the way. Capcom calls it interlacing because they are oldschool like that^^

@@telefonbarmann4514 it's not a form of upscaling. it's literally what the man said. i guess it's been about 12-14 years since any one ahd to worry over their tv being interlaced or progressive. but yes this dates back to early HD tv's. to take the load off the screen many tv's would use what is called interlaced signaling. meaning every odd line is drawn on screen first , then every even line is draw and that's followed by the lines being recombined to make the full image. while progressive is where Every line is drawn at the same time. so when they say interlaced on a video game , theya re talking about how the lines are half rendered then the other half is rendered and the two are then put together. but it's not upscaling . you are likely cofused because the video poster showed a comparison that said "native" on one side and Interlaced on the other. the way he did that is wrong. because interlaced is a NATIVE resolution the side of his comparison that said "native" should have said "normal" or "progressive" and for the record that is what the i or p at the end of the resolution means 1080p = 1080 progressive scan , 1080i = 1080 interlaced scan. so no it's not a form of upscaling. upscaling is where you take an image with less pixels then digitally upscale it to a iamge with morem pixels. with interlaced the native number of pixels are there already , it's jsut drawing half of them first then the other half.

I think this video gives me enough confidence to think this will run around 40-50fps on the ally. 720p w/fsr on, mid tier graphics, 20+W. Its under specs on minimum for graphics but going lower on the resolution and having a decent processor should help a lot.

Mid range good for 1440p gaming for majority of titles. Just not a 4k GPU.

@jotavpa4066
@jotavpa4066 7 месяцев назад
It's mid range, 7800XT is actually the 7700XT renamed, look how it's competing with the RTX4070 instead of the 4080 or 4070Ti (like in the previous generation), you can also see it didn't get any real performance gain over the RX6800XT (its predecessor).
@rangersmith4652
@rangersmith4652 7 месяцев назад
The 6800XT and 7800XT are what I would call high-end-1440, nearly-4K cards. It depends on the games and settings. Many "lesser" cards can be 4K cards as long as one avoids AAA games and/or too-high expectations. For example, while I'm waiting for a more permanent replacement for an ailing 2080Ti to arrive, I'm playing FF14 in 4K at medium-ish settings and getting ~80FPS with some minor stuttering in busy cities _running a 980Ti._ Is a 980Ti a 4K card in 2023? No, and I don't advocate using a card for a resolution that requires dropping a game's graphics settings into the low range. But if one must play games that are above his or her system's sweet spot, it can work.
@rangersmith4652
@rangersmith4652 7 месяцев назад

I pretty much reach the recommended requirements, except for the GPU. I have the 6GB 1060. But graphics were never my intention when I had my PC built. I wanted games to play regardless. So if I can just run the game on normal settings and reach anywhere from 30-60, I'll be happy. I don't need "high" or "extreme" graphics settings, which I actually assume is what they tested these games at.

@BigFry9591
@BigFry9591 3 месяца назад
@@mikeyhughes1999 Not sure if it will run it. But the minimum requirements have a GTX 1070 for 1080p 30fps. I assume that that's with high settings, but I'm not sure. It all depends on what settings they used to benchmark. The 1660, being newer than the 1070, should run the game fine (as long as the system requirements they posted are accurate).

Comparing to RE4R, the minimum here is closer to that game's recommended, with better CPUs listed there and the fact that game would run with 4GB of VRAM. I'm currently stuck with a 2060 6GB, so I'll have to wait and see if those 2 GB less than the minimum of VRAM will make the game unplayable or not. Everything else for me is on par: 5800X3D, 32GB RAM, NVME2...
