This will get lost in the abyss but many Bojack Horseman artists loved your show. We'd frequently have episodes playing on our monitors and constantly be like "yeah I just restarted DBZA again!" I've loved watching this commentary, and it's been inspiring to see artists in our current hellscape of media just exude (or extrude) passion and be able to put out episode after episode of something they're proud of. Thanks for pouring out your hearts, y'all.

To respond to Scott saying that DBZA perhaps won’t be remembered as a particularly noteworthy piece of art, I would say that there is a very strong argument for it being the best parody of all time.

So here's my story relating to you guys. I met my wife the year DBZA premiered. We were 18 and were in a long-distance relationship. We had met on Gaiaonline. She came to visit me when we made it official. Episode 5 came out when she was visiting. She had no idea what DBZA was, so we binge watched the first 5 episodes several times while eating pizza. It was a great bonding experience for us. We've been watching this commentary together. We're 33 now (she turns 34 next month), and it's been a lot of fun re-watching a show that dominated our 20's. We got married in 2017 a little less than a month after episode 59 came out. We consider it a wedding gift. Thanks for the laughs.

I was not expecting the heartfelt Chris Ayers stories. It's obvious he meant a lot to you guys

Scott broke me talking about Chris, dude was a legend not just as an actor, but as a nice person.

The beautiful irony of Chris Ayers, a voice for one of the most evil and despisable characters in fiction, is one of the sweetest and kindest people you will ever meet/know.

Since Kaiser couldn’t remember, it got brought up in the breakdown he did of episode 60; the My Way song was originally supposed to be a cover of “We’ll Meet Again” inspired by Gravity Falls’ Bill Cipher but it was changed due to it not fitting the character and due to Taka watching Sing on a plane and pitching “My Way” instead.

34:18 Lani’s making sure to time it as perfect as possible, Kaiser’s listening to the sound to assure the pitch is perfect, And Taka’s trying to fit in one last bit to circle it all together. Truly the perfect representation of all three coming together to make this series.

Bro seeing them all sing the “My Way” song was the most wholesome thing I’ve ever seen.

@1:05:50 "It may not mean something in the grand mountain of art that influenced culture" Dude, DBZA I would argue is a cultural icon. You guys kept the franchise alive when from nearly every official front it was dead silent. It's one of the most quotable things in existence, and on top of that using those quotes, people recognize that and find each other and immediately form a bond and community. You brought, and continue to bring people together. Thank you for sharing this with all of us. Thank you for being an inspiration.

30:31 one of the reasons why I thought it was so amazing to see Vegeta hit Cell at this point is also because earlier he got angry at Trunks’ suggestion of fighting Cell together. It shows how devastated he is, how he is willing to put his pride aside. This is the reason why the Vegeta in Buu arc felt like a natural progression of his character to be including his restlessness after Goku’s death

Taka wanting to be a wrestling manager is the most sincere, sweet and wholesome goal that I've ever heard and I'm all here for it hoping he achieves it

Ngl, there’s something absolutely inspired about Cell, in his final moments, rather than breaking down or regretting his actions, singing a song about how he regrets absolutely nothing because he got to do everything, well, his way. Sure, he could have avoided all this by making better choices, but they were HIS choices to make, and that’s what mattered. Guess he really wasn’t so different from his siblings after all.

I love that Kaiser was so engrossed he didn't even return the middle finger.

Rewatching this the day after Toriyama passed, and I’m once again struck by how beautiful this is. While a part of me would kill to have a season 4, I know in my heart this was the right place to cap off the series. Thank You TFS. And RIP Akira Toriyama.

10:24 funny story about them being at anime expo. Myself and a friend of mine were supposed to go together but he couldn't make it. He asked me to get him a shirt from them so I waited Patiently in line to buy one from kaiser. I thought hey why not ask him to sign it and then ask Lani and taka sign it. Kaiser was super nice (although tired looking) and signed the shirt. I asked him if Lani and taka would be able to and he pointed at them, laughed and said "if given the chance they'll sign it and more." So I walked over there and waited. An idea hit me to get a picture with them after they signed the shirt. So as they were signing the shirt I held up my camera to take a selfie with them and my friend called. For some reason I looked at taka and said "it's my friend who couldn't come see you guys today". Without skipping a beat taka took my phone and started to talk to him as nappa with Lani talking to him as vegeta. It was the single greatest con moment I've ever been a part of and to this day still referenced between us. This happened at anime expo when you guys were just sellers and the next year you came back as guests. Long story short; love you guys and keep it up

Thanks to you all I met two wives. One who passed of cancer and your show kept her laughter to the end and my current who we sit and watch this show for date nights and laugh together every week. Thankyou from the bottom of my heart. I know you’ll probably never see this but you all created something magical for us nerds out here who were down, struggling, depressed and hurting and gave us some glimmer of joy. Thankyou❤

The conversation about love and hate really got to me. Especially because of Lani's comment about Kaiser and Taka being his brothers and not just his friends. A real friend isn't someone who never makes you angry. A real friend is someone you can get absolutely furious with and a few seconds later your all good again, because the hate doesn't matter only the love does. That is the friend that is closer than a brother.

Cell dying by singing "My Way" always gave me the impression that despite everything he at least died satisfied. Goku quit on him, and there's nothing fun about getting stomped by SSJ 2 Gohan. That final clash was completely even (in his mind Gohan being down an arm is still even, the guy is evil) and he only lost because of the tactical error of letting himself get distracted by Vegeta. Cell's "My Way" is his over dramatic equivalent of "GGs"

"So this is how I die...Down one arm and killed by an android...Why does this feel oddly familiar?" I don't know why but that's my absolutely favorite TFS line. 😂

Far as I’m concerned you guys are part of the larger Dragon Ball Franchise. When I do a franchise rewatch (yes I do those) I include you guys in that. DBZA is the comedy timeline. Thanks guys.

Before I start this last one, are definitely want to express myself. I remember being an Amazon delivery driver at the peak of covid, summer of 2020 and going through the darkest time of life. Going through my worst breakup, her slandering me to my own people, and having someone I can consider a second mother pass away a month after. I remember being stuck in that Amazon delivery for what felt like an eternity. Imagine being stuck in a steel box being left to do nothing but constantly dwell on it for 10 hours out of the day everyday. If it wasn't music I was listening to, it was THIS. I would listen / watch DBZA and Hellsing Abridged while I I was working because it kept me laughing. Provided solace and joy when I couldn't feel any on my own. It got to the point where I can do a lot of the voices myself too and like the 3 of you and your own characters, quote your favorite lines along with the show. What you guys have done will stand the test of time. Thank you guys for the sense of humor I have now. I was in high school when you guys started and now I'm a 33-year-old man. In Monster Hunter with the auto shout outs, they are all abridged references 😂😂😂 I love you guys and thank you so much❤❤❤

Hearing all of you sing "My Way" together immediately brought back the goosebumps I felt at age 17 when this first aired. This show was not just massively influential on my sense of humor as a teenager, but also, weirdly enough, a source of comfort. I was so excited for these commentaries because I wanted to hear your insight throughout all of these. It was incredibly engaging all throughout. Even if no one reads this comment, I just wanted to put this out there. Thank you.

What sticks out to me is that during the "VEGETA NO!" "VEGETA YES!", when Vegeta fires off that blast Cell actually braces for it. Dude wasn't quite sure if Vegeta being biblically pissed was actually gonna get him over the line or not.

I know this will get buried, but I want to say thank you all. I grew up with DBZA. I remember how huge it was to meet my friends after a new episode and all be quoting shit. How amazing it was to see the channel grow and do new things. I could recognize Lani, Kirran and Grant long before I could recognize any actors from normal movies by name, and seeing you all move on, it’s been an incredible ride. Best of luck in whatever you all do in the future

I will never forget being part of a crowd of hundreds, where everyone was chanting "Satan, Satan, Satan" All together. Any christians in that hotel were certainly having rough dreams that night! One of the best moments of my life, and I will always treasure how absurd that experience was.

Honestly Kaiser's performance as Trunks with his dying "Help...Me", is so damn good. That delivery brought me to tears, because of how much is relying on Trunks and how that's his 'big reward' for coming back to save his future. It's so sad and so good!

Cell in this has always been a very musical character. He came into this show with a song, and went out with a song

I think it’s really, really beautiful how Kaiser talks about his feelings and openly shows such strong emotions when talking about how this show made him feel and how wonderful it was for him to be able to put his entire soul into a project so passionately. Made me tear up myself in a few places just seeing that this wonderful man was brought to tears because he was so proud of what he accomplished.

Just a few episodes ago vegeta was adamant that a true saiyan warrior would never accept or offer help in a 1 on 1 fight and now vegeta puts aside his pride to help gohan, the son of his greatest rival. I love it

Last episode and I’ve wanted to write this for a while so putting it here: this show literally stopped me from unaliving myself. At a bridge, phone buzzes from a text from my mum and underneath it is a notification of a new episode, thought ‘watch it then do it’ it wouldn’t load on 3G so I power walked home to watch it, laughed so much when I got to watch it that I was too happy to even think about going back, that was about 7 years ago. I will admit, when Chichi threatened them all with a fate that even the dragon couldn't undo, I thought it was a set up for everyone to frantically try and help beat Cell because if he died, Chichi would hunt them through the after life like a Terminator

I've always loved Cell's face as he's disintegrating matching up with the final "Myyyyyyyyyy waaaaaaayyyyy!" Absolutely immaculate work. It must have been a little difficult to get that to happen, but it, like Cell, was perfect.

You guys did something special. from the ultimate collab of abridgers to essentially upping the ante for what abridging could be, to making something that many would consider an equal (if seperate) experience from the canon show and manga. you paved the way for countless other hilarious people inspire by your work to make fantastic things. We have the snippets of Buu now, and in my heart I always wish for the day we get a full buu saga but if it never happens i'll be happy if anything, i'd love to see a show, with your own writing concept and humor in the mainstream you all brought the best laughs in hard times, and made us cry through a new lense with the show we grew up with. Im glad i got to watch this again, thank you all for your work on this

God the talk about Chris Ayre's really got me emotional, the way you guys were close to breaking down, the man just sounded like one of the best people you could ever meet.

Guys....I needed this after the day I had today. Thank you. Edit: Watching everyone tear up and tell their stories and pour their hearts out, especially Scott, nearly broke me into sobbing. I got some tears. Then less then 8 seconds after the title card is over, Scott is HOWLING laughing. These commentaries are absolute treasures.

I saw a post on the TFS subreddit that used this speech, except it was King Yenma talking to Toriyama. So this speech hits differently now because of that.

Another thing I like about Vegeta being the only one who shoots at Cell is that it’s objectively such a cheap and underhanded move. Shooting an enemy from behind while they are occupied with a stronger fighter whose doing the brunt of the work? That’s not an epic battle that proves whose the best, there’s no pride or glory in it, at least from Vegeta’s perspective. I would even argue that the move in it of itself is an self admission of weakness and acknowledgment that he simply could not beat cell by himself. It took his son literally dying in front of him BECAUSE OF HIM but it finally got through his thick skull, if only for that moment, that there are things more important than his own pride.

I love that fan art with 16 at the end because it shows that Cell was wrong. He did have a soul

My favorite part of the Vegeta solo assist is that he gave a big speech about one on one fights to the death and trucks told him how stupid it was.

No lie. Seeing Android 16 in heaven at the end of the credits made me cry when this came out. Thank you all so much for making this series. Watching the saiyan saga abridged with my dad are some of my best memories with him from the years before he passed. This series means the world to me, and watching you commentate over it has been phenomenal. Truly, thank you all.

Dear TFS, let me tell you a story. I live in middle/eastern Europe and when I was a kid, about 20 years ago, we had Dragonball as one of our weekday afternoon cartoons. I mean the entire run, starting with the original Dragonball, all the way through Z and GT. It was one of my favorite cartoons ever, I followed it obssesively. I even watched the goku/frieza fight on a tiny portable black and white TV in a room of a rehabilitation center (I have a physical disability, so I needed yearly rehabs). Years passed. I am not 100% sure how I came across DBZA. I think a friend recommended YGOTAS to me and then I rabbit-holed myself into your content. I'm not sure anymore when this happened, but definitely a few years back. Maybe around when you started uploading season 3 or by the end of season 2. Guys, this is arguably the best fan project I have ever seen. I quote you all the time. When I see Vegeta, I hear Lani's voice, they have literally melded together in my brain. I'm pretty sure I cried during episode 60 because you managed to take the best moment in DBZ (gohan's transfromation) and make it BETTER. I cannot thank you enough for the hours of entertainment you have provided. And after watching these commentaries, I definitely have a deeper appreciation for everything you have done. The care and attention to detail is simply stratospheric. You should be so, SO proud of yourself. You've set the bar for abridged parodies that everyone else now has to try and clear. You and everybody who contributed to this masterpiece are undoubtedly in the Hall of Fame of Internet content Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart.

Its important to remember that an artist doesnt always have to create out of necessity, it comes from time and passion and to be honest, i couldnt care less if you didnt make anything dbz related at all.
