For real. I have to applaud her for just going for it. And then going for it again the next year. I hope she found someone who appreciates a girl who knows what she wants and isn't afraid to be forward about it. (And if not... hey girl, I appreciate a lady who isn't afraid to be upfront about what she wants. HMU😉) (I'm joking, DO NOT actually "HMU", I will assume you're a scammer or a porn-bot)
@@jamessmall6499 Nah, hell with that "poor girl" nonsense - listen to me: We should all strive to be like her. Life is messy and our attempts don't always go the way we imagine, but going for it is how we learn and grow. At 19? I'd have chickened out for sure. She's my gd hero.
Regarding the industry secret about characters not getting lines so they don't have to pay the voice actors, the Freakazoid team knew they'd been cancelled when they wrote their last episode, so they crammed as many voice actors into the studio as possible and had them all sing "We'll Meet Again" to squeeze every last penny out of Warner Bros.
When Chris Ayres told him, “I don’t know if I’m allowed to watch what you make.” It just really shows how ground breaking TFS was and how they really were pioneering dealing with copyright bs on RU-vid and being creators. Not only did TFS inspire a lot of people but they also fought a lot of battles for the community. Battles that a lot of people, like TNM, are still fighting. These guys were pioneers in more ways than one. A lot of people owe these guys.
They definitely exposed how toxic the copyright system is and how idiotic companies can get with it. I never would've gotten into DBZ and sank hundreds of dollars into the merchandise without TeamFourStar.
@@TheAwesomeDarkNinja I got into Dragon Ball before TFS came around but now they are inseparable in my mind. Their dub is a legitimate as any other version and I go to their content more than the “real” version.
11:20 And there's me going..."What is even going on??" 20:44 And if you do cover Abridgimon, I edited the thing so I could easily talk about it because I made so many gags.
The first time I watched Kai 1, I literally thought to myself "I can't wait to see what hilarious one-liners Nappa says in this. I can't wait to constantly quote it with my friends." Felt very called out by that line XD
I like the idea that lanni and kaiser have just been sitting in this room waiting for the last two months until lanni snaps out of the trance to film another episode. It's like their self inflicted saw moment
15:07 This bit has permanently affected casual conversation between a friend and I, and I thank you for it lol. When fitting we'll just do that exaggerated nod, or when texting just throw in a "*Bulma nod*".
That tale about Chris Ayres was so sweet. The tale about Taka was so funny and so relatable. To the fan: I concur we all been there. I even acted awkward when I met a lot of people I’m fans of At cons, even a portion of TFS. So long as you’re not being rude, you can look back at the moment and laugh. It’s nice to be reminded that the team are generally chill folks
I totally get the fan story. I met Nichelle Nichols (Lt Uhura in Star Trek) at LAX and totally gaped like an idiot. Thank God my stepdad saved me from making a total ass of myself. He told her we were big fans and she was very happy to hear that.
I had an ad break during that moment. Which really just made it funnier, because it was like *awkward pause* -> commercial -> *awkward pause continues*
The miracle coincidence that the person that Taka brought the mic to would be the SAME GIRL from the story just makes that entire thing perfect to a T XD
The look Scott gave Lani when Lani mentioned the furry thing made me start coughing from laughter my god. Seriously though, that must be a huge ego boost to have your work referenced in a bigger work, and that line works so well for Eggman anyway, it doesn't really feel like one! Also, that Chris Ayres story is just wholesome, goes to show how inspirational TFS is, but J G put it into better words than I could.
I was just thinking earlier today, it's such a shame that the DBZA Goku and Zarbon never met. Goku's innocence and Zarbon's compulsive innuendo could have played off each other so well. Then again, Cell came (mmmh) pretty close
"Yamcha's here! YAMCHA'S DEAD!" Is one of my favorite most remembered lines in all of DBZA it's just so succinct and well executed. I still quote it whenever i see a character show up in something only to immediately get bodied (doesnt happen a ton but more often than you'd think)
Despite the fact that Resurrection F is Flawed, Chris Ayers’ performance in the dub was certainly a highlight and definitely cemented him as the definitive English Frieza for me ever since. RIP :(
I can't even watch original funi dub anymore. No disrespect to Linda, I grew up with her voice as Frieza, but Chris made Frieza the true terrifying villain he deserves to be. Rip.
I did get very sad while watching their playthrough of Dragon Ball: Kakarot recently because they do mention how Chris Ayers isn't doing well, but that he is "getting better".
I just want Kaiser and Lani to know that the Destructo Disc joke with Vegeta and the vagina joke with Dodoria are two scenes that randomly show up in my head regularly and that I laugh about it everytime.
The first time I saw Yugi and his line of "This has HOW MANY subscribers?!?" I died laughing so hard! One of the GREATEST punchlines ever, and probably the best of the whole series!
I have two takes on what Bulma on Namek could have been, one fairly normal, one is a VERY hot take. 1) Use the fact she's a tech genius more. Give Krillin/Gohan/Vegeta some form of modified scouter tech so she can be their "guy in the chair". Have her sneak onto one of the enemy spaceships so she can steal tech to help repair their own spaceship. Have her make fake dragonball signals to throw off Frieza and his men. Have her be the one to decipher and translate the means to summon Porunga in Ancient Namekian or whatever. There's just so much she could have done. 2) She should have been the catalyst for Goku turning Super Saiyan, not Krillin. Krillin has died before, and Goku has been enraged at it before. Krillin was also a warrior, the risk of dying is always going to be there, something Goku would be well aware of by this point. Bulma was not a warrior. She was an innocent bystander who had no means of defending herself, having to trust Goku and others to be there for her. Frieza killing her just because he can would have been an act of absolute evil and cruelty that would easily push Goku over the edge. She is the first person Goku ever met after Grandpa Gohan died and his first ever friend, a connection that is often forgotten about, especially as the list of Gokus friends grows as the series goes on. Her dying because Goku couldn't protect her would easily push him over the edge in terms of rage.
Bulma being the super saiyan catalyst would be so fucking cool and it would kind of align with how in (canon or maybe filler) Bulma still had a thing for goku during namek with the cloud thing so maybe she could’ve died to save gohan as a way of moving past it
On the one hand, there's a discussion to be had about the sexism of comics where female characters are killed off for the development of the leading male character's story On the other hand, your mind OP, that's really cool from a thematic stance. I wish Bulma wasn't sidelined so bad on Namek
But the thing is Krillin was dying for the second time Goku didn't know he would be brought back because he was already brought back once This time it was definitive
Taka had a really heartwarming story about him during his stream. When Taka was in a very low point in his life, Chris reached out to him unprompted and gave him a really heartfelt message helping him pull through it
Okay. Real talk. "HEY GUYS. YOU REMIND ME OF SOME ASSHOLES I'M GONNA KILL" Best. Verbal. Threat. Of. All. Time!!!! Possibly one of my favorite lines you guys have done in any of the series. For sure top 3. ...tied with the Cell line to Trunks. "You couldn't FATHOM the amount of dead men behind me." Just so fucking amazing. 👏👏👏👏
I knew that Parunga said something in reverse in this episode, but I never knew how to play it in reverse. I have been waiting 9 years for this reveal. Worth it.
25:00 I just love that he's completely frozen, the look of Death and bewilderment on Kaisers face is pure and amazing, like a deer I the headlights that wants to kill the cars
fun fact for "Cooler's revenge", in the german localization it was called "revenge for Freezer" which makes so much more sense. the rare gold the german localizers struck back then
Goku's ship annihilating the Ginyu force might be my favorite joke you all have ever done. There's obviously tough competition, but the superficial gag, combined with it being a allegory for how easily Goku just wiped the floor with the Ginyu force in the actual series, alongside the visual execution of the joke, Krillin's line delivery, etc, all comes together into a top tier gag that cracks me up every time.
- those Convention stories give me life, big shoutouts to that lady & Rest in Peace Chris Ayes - I'm still on the camp that Hyping up Yamcha was the funnier option for the main Abridged - thing is, if they have had the Fake Nameks be woven into the main treasure hunt then Bulma would actually been useful as she was the one leading the crew until that point - RIP Adobe Flash, i miss the versatility & content, can't say I'm sad i no longer see that crash screen - LMAO Kaiser going from pride to death glare - 32:45 Taka's career in one Taka quote
Honestly, I think the whole Adobe Flash Plugin crashing joke works even better now, cause it means that his scream of rage was so great he destroyed Flash in its entirety.
I can imagine Nick singing "Time Warp" using Vegeta's voice or "Sweet Transvestite" with his vocal chops. I heard Ryo Horikawa (original Japanese VA for Vegeta) sing Cha-la Head-cha-la (DBZ theme) live. It was surreal.
Ah man. Listening to this made me wonder about the potential of Bulma on Namak. Maybe getting kidnapped and almost killed, but then dropping that she could make a dragon radar which now Frieza need after the scouters got blasted. So she’s pretending to make that while also sabotaging the ship, could possibly find Vegeta in the healing pod, gets him out and they both start wrecking Frieda’s ship before he steals the dragon balls.
I think my favorite thing about the Yamcha trope is that they went so far as to incorporate it into the baseball episode of Super. The sport besides martial arts he's most familiar with, and he still gets wrecked. Though, to be fair, everyone was trying to use their powers to outplay one another. But it's still hilarious to see Yamcha in the same exact position, but on a baseball field.
The fact you did a Frankenfurter impression makes me so happy. My dad LOVES that movie. He admits to seeing it over 50 times. They would play it often at local theaters and they had traditions of doing things for certain lines like throwing toilet paper when they said "Great Scott!"
I absolutely adore all of the pauses Kaiser keeps making to note the editing, the visual gags, all of the jokes that can easily be catch it or miss it. He shouldn't be sorry because it's beautiful flavor in the commentary!
I remember taking the bit of Parunga and recording it with a Nintendo DS so I could play it backwards and find out what he said. Set me rolling on the floor when I first heard it.
I don’t think you guys understand how much you impacted my teen years and late adult hood. I remember the old chat you guys had on your website way back in the day. I remember actually talking to Masako and him giving his take on season 1 goku (this was before the season 1 finale) and he told me it would only get better and dumber. I’ve been following you guys since day 1 when I was a freshman in hischool of 2008 and am still eating the content like a snicker bar
I wonder what happened to that girl. 😂😂 So hilarious how she was there when Lani told the story and then confirmed she was 19 now! (At that time) Totally hilarious, and I wish I had been there to see that. 😂😂
There used to be a really cool flash game for DBZ. You trained Goku, Vegeta, and Trunks in 5 areas. Once they were trained in every area, they became Super Saiyans. They fought the Ginyu Force in five different locations on Namek, then Frieza. That's the one flash game I miss.
Dragon Ball Z Mission To Namek is the one you're referring too. I played the shit outta it as a kid. The game is on archive.org but you still need to find a working flash player, or you can download it as a part of a flash preservation program called Flashpoint if you want a more all-in-one solution. Bonus: You can also find Dragon Ball Tournament, which if you were playing Mission to Namek back on the old Cartoon Network site is likely just as nostalgic of a game once you see and remember it. Enjoy!
I still remember when Kaiser used to do those episode breakdowns way back in the day. I knew so many pauses were coming up from him because of those. Love it guys, keep em coming!
Neko and Kirito's abridged VA scare me. They both seem like editors that would kill themselves with their craft because they're such perfectionists they'd neglect their health in the process
@@atomic_luck447 about Kaiser, that is merely a hunch I have. On Izzy, I know that for a fact, as the SWE crew have gone on record on multiple streams that they've had to actively check on Izzy so that he doesn't overly fixate on making the episodes as perfectly as possible, with Izzy admitting to it
You don't need to apologize for stopping, it is literally why we are here :D If we just wanted to watch the scenes we would just watch the original uploads.
I'm so glad you guys are doing this series. it is the perfect thing to sit and watch after you make something to eat. you get to enjoy your food, you get to laugh, get cozy, and the added bonus of not realizing until now how good your kai videos are, especially with the explanations.
Ok I've wanted to say this since the series started but both Lani and Kaiser have AMAZING smiles. Anyways I'm also glad ya'll also enjoy Dragon Soul :)
Regarding the "if a character doesnt speak, its because the studio didnt want to pay the voiceactor" is common in movies and tv shows too: If extras don't say anything, they get paid less (or nothing).
Kai’s we’re my introduction to you guys I was going through a bad spout of depression when I found dbza and when watching my parents said they heard me laughing for the first time in ages Appreciate what you guys have done and glad you’re back ❤️
