All the times he gives us something different like the Caribbean sound the grime rap delivery y’all say he’s a culture vulture….y’all really be moving the goal post. He pulled out his classic sound on this. And if he give y’all ten classic rap songs it’s Alienating his other fans.
He confuses me so much. Like the projects u think he’s gon love he doesn’t but just ok projects like this he likes.. like what are you hearing that we’re not
That what it is. See i cant listen to this guy, and i could never really understand why other than just plainly not liking him or his music, but now it really makes sense.
I think the issue with CLB is that it’s the most Drake album he’s made, very predictable, uninteresting at times and too long. If Drake gave us that energy he had on NWTS & IYRTITL and cut the album to 12-14 tracks, it woulda been way better. Imo I think Take Care was his most risky project when it came out years ago. It just became his formulaic sound along with Views
Been saying this he needs some quality control a quincy jones type figure to be like lets cut down this album length and put the extra shit on a deluxe or B side
Drake’s biggest flaw isnt the cringe shit, or the rap singing or even the slow tracks or pop hits. The problem is he never steps out of his comfort zone.
what's the motivation to do that when he keeps breaking records with very mid projects. all he needs to do is drop at least a few good songs a year he actually puts effort into and then push a 90 min bloated mid album and continue to break records
@@jeremy0828 That’s totally fine, but it’ll never contribute to another classic album like Take Care which is the only classic in his catalog. When we look back at drake, he will be remembered mainly for his great singles he released, not his albums because he’d rather just cater to getting the most streams than creating a coherent album with at least some risks and not the same formula he has been doing for every album since Views.
@@jeremy0828 whenever he steps out of his comfort zone, people call him a culture vulture. He really can't win in everyone's minds but we all know at the end of the day ... "your sister is pressing play, your trainer is pressing play, your wifey, your wifey, your wifey ..."
As a Latino that's pretty new to this type of music, I can tell afrobeats tends to sound a bit darker, while dancehall has a livelier mood to it. I definitely prefer afrobeats though.
Depending on the island the beats and music are almost identical so from a ignorant American perspective they’re going to associate it with what they know. Carribean is Afro beats to most Americans.
That’s the one thing about these reviews, I wish they did a little research prior. Tems is probably on one of the biggest songs out there (“Essence” by WizKid) and Afrobeats is an entirely different genre than Dancehall
My jaw hit the floor when I heard Feefo say this was one of his best projects. The album with the line "Yeah, say that you a lesbian, girl, me too." is one of Drake's best projects... I was so stunned.
@@briancollins1296 his sound was the same for about a decade. KOD was a dope concept but other than that he been rapping about the same thing. But the pusha t’s, Rick Ross’, and Freddie Gibbs raps about the same content their whole career and we don’t complain
@@javontaepinder9945 of course not...those are the virtue signal pretentious rappers that every black hipster can't say nothing bad about. Maybe not Cole cuz he lightskinned. Most old heads only like old head rappers who still wear outfits....like AZ.
@Catsup Tha God it’s not facts as far as a whole discography. But I guess it’s easy to say that if you think drake don’t have any dope songs but I’m a fan so 🤷🏾♂️
this was y'alls most fun review in a while, regardless of the opinions of whether it's good or bad the chemistry y'all had when riffing off this album reminds me why i keep up with this channel after 10 years thanks for the good content 🙌
Drake fans are prisoners man lol. This dude said there were songs on this album I don’t like, but this is still one of his best projects. Jesus Christ. I’m realizing that I love Feefo outside of every mainstream album they review.
@@dickridinhater7816 I don't really listen to Nicki but it wouldn't really fit her style. She couldn't pull out off. Drake could imo. Not even sure why Nicki is being used for the comparison but okay chief.
Whats happening with Drake is what happened to Eminem. No matter what mid gets released, fans will still flock to it, do numbers and ppl will defend it for the same repetitiveness.
I find that Em and Drake are the same in that no matter what gets released, there will always be everyone critiquing it and tearing it apart. Also a lot of the numbers are from the people that want to shit on it. It just adds to their argument that everything that either of these guys do will never be up to their standards
Because as bland as alot of drake’s recent projects are it’s still better than alot of other mainstream artists so if you don’t really know hip hop you’re just looking for some background music while you study or clean your house this works for you...obviously his target audience isn’t hip hop fans...it’s just people that like pop music and listen to Spotify fodder playlists....with songs like 7am on bridle path he shows he can still rap but that’s not what alot of his fans want...disagree it’s different with Eminem because Eminem’s strength is the lyrics and flows so when the lyrics and flows are bad and on top of it the beats aren’t that great either it just doesn’t work but since he’s a mega star alot of people listen to it so out of these people some people will like it....with drake it’s more that he’s turned pop....but he’s not good at doing pop songs and he just rinces and repeats the same formula again and again...you gotta understand there’s alot of people in this world and everyone has different tastes...so as mid as drake’s music is...as long as it sounds better than some amateur project made from someone’s basement...some people will like it...hip hop is the biggest genre now...so alot of people will like it for different reasons then the purists who are looking for something that’s either lyrical, original or throwback
@@solacemoods4586 this true I am, his music is boring, uncreative and lackluster so yes I hate drake and his braindead music. Sorry I haven't had my period in order to listen to him
Dude doesn’t sound inspired or interested on this project at all unless he’s talking about Kanye. The production even sounds lazy and a lot of the features just seem forced. This album is a convoluted mess of the same old thing from a bored Drizzy. Super dope review. Appreciate the content fellas
I agree, this is some of the worst production I think I've ever heard on a drake project. Also, can someone explain to me why there seems to be a beat switch-up every 5 minutes lol.
Yea it’s a no for me dawg on this album (Randy Jackson voice). Drake is entirely too old to be making this type of music but what else can we expect from Drake at this point in his career? 🤷🏾♂️
@@9525joe usually Drake albums get me a lil pumped even if the music isn't amazing but he didn't even sound interested with recording the album, what am I supposed to do with that.
This was one of the most uninspired, uninteresting albums I’ve ever listened to. There was nothing for me on this album. I can’t believe this and Donda are the highlight albums for 2 of the biggest names in hip hop to drop this year.
21:50 I'm with Ken on this one. It bothers me when I'm discussing music and people start talking money and business. I don't care. Yeah, Drake is moving smart, but we're not analyzing image building or marketing or whatever. If we're judging music, keep it about the music.
One thing I will give Myke is that over time his disdain for certain Drake projects becomes more and more objective and less bias driven. With every project, he becomes more open minded with his takes. Growth is good for all involved.
I think myke is a "you are who you are it does me nothing for me to keep complaining about it" type person. He's accepted drake isn't a artist whose sound he'll fully embrace so it's no point dogging him out for it
25:30…. Kanye gave us 23 songs that sound nothing alike. there’s like 3 songs that sound different on CLB. Not to hate, both projects aren’t perfect but come on
That's the weirdest thing to me. I feel like I listened to a different album than they did. Donda was pretty varied, and CLB sounded like 1 continuous song to me. Idk.
This is a terrible take. Champagne poetry , fair trade, way 2 sexy , knife talk , race my mind , no friends in the industry are all different types of songs lmao
Yeah Idk what they were talking about with that take. Kanye has always been more creative and varied in sounds than Drake. Donda sounded way more creative, CLB sounded way too much like the same song.
Basically this album was Drake’s perpetual “Why can’t I find a great woman”, “I’m the greatest”, “I’m doubted”, “I’m envied” all that shit. Dude bring something interesting to the table
That album wasn’t for me nor is drake music, drake music never changed , he 30 plus but no evolution in his music !!!! I know some drake fans will be mad but this my opinion
You aren’t wrong at all. It’s comfort food. Even though I fall on the side of I like drake. Drake dosent change much lol. I wish he just made a straight rap album but that’ll never happen unfortunately.
Drake will never change because he has formula and he’s not that creative. Drake drops his albums like it’s call of duty. I repeat again he will never change at all.
Somebody please remind drake is a 34 year old Canadian man with children. Talking about being a certified lover boy and being a lesbian like tf are you doing, man?
There’s no way the Feefo can like the same formula we heard for the last 12 years from Drake (albeit I think this album is cool). Still, in the Donda review, we heard contradictions of it sounding similar track by track and at the same time trying to sound like different eras of Kanye’s music. Whether we like it or not, Drake and Ye will ultimately have their albums compared to each other, but one of them sounded much more creative than the other.
Ahhh shit. Firstly, Imma apologize for not tuning in to the Patreon battles. I've been battling my personal issues lately. But I'm back, and I'm ready to hear ya'll take on this shit lmaooo. Honestly, mid... this is pretty mid... like the rest if Drake's catalogue. Album wise, Drake has always dropped mid joints, throughout his entire career (except for two albums), but his features and singles, be HEAT. Surprisingly, I don't really think there's any singles on this joint. Songs that I like, but not any I would actually listen to on the radio.
Why did you feel the need to tell us you've been going through personal issues as a reason for not tuning in to Patreon? You aint gotta explain yourself
The end of this looked like they were about to have an argument about respect. Notice how Feefo looked over from myke to ken after myke said “hope you’re going well” to drake
Absolutely love DEHH and glad we got the review on this. Idk if it's just me, but while I generally agree with most of what they say on most of their reviews, when they're reviewing super-popular records, I feel like I end up disagreeing with them way more. Definitely true for Donda, but for CLB I strongly disagree with Feefo saying this one of Drake's best projects, or Feefo/Rod saying Way2Sexy was good. I think Fantano was spot on saying No Friends In The Industry sounds good sonically, but is just a joke given how many friends in the industry Drake has. Thought Fountains was one of the worse songs on the record, thought Get Along Better was the best Drake singing on the record and a great song, thought Fucking Fans was stupid, The Remorse was forgettable, etc. But I think overall agree with their sentiment, Drake keep doing this if it's getting you streams, but he's definitely not making high quality albums at this point in his career.
I haven’t watched these guys very much yet but it seems like they don’t really review the lyrical content especially in this video. Seems like they’re just checking to see if the hits take off and if it the beats are catchy enough.
@@marcosaguilar8504 Don't worry, definitely not usually the case for them, if you see them reviewing like, Lupe Fiasco's Drogas WAVE, they do an incredible job jumping into the lyrics. It's just with these uber popular albums that aren't usually in their standard lane of music I feel
Don’t agree with your take on no friends in the industry...what happens outside of the music has nothing to do with the quality of the music itself...it’s like if someone drops an album about killing and dealing drugs then says it’s complete fiction...that doesn’t affect the quality of the music...if you don’t like a song then critique the song without bringing in the artist’s personal life which has nothing to do with it
Album is painfully mediocre like most Drake albums imo. NOW i do like Drake and think as a singles artist he is amazing and love a lot of his hits. This album doesnt have those songs for me on here. Cudi track fire tho
Top tracks (as voted by DEHH) - No Friends In The Industry (5 votes), Champagne Poetry (4 votes), 7AM On Bridle Path (4 votes), You Only Live Twice (3 votes), Knife Talk (2 votes), The Remorse (2 votes), Yabba's Heartbreak (2 votes)
Laugh Now Cry Later is better than this whole album. It actually infuriated me it was left off the album , at least this song can keep me engaged and not put me to sleep
Unbelievable that the song wasn’t put on the album. It would have been a great 3rd song after Champagne Poetry and Papi’s home. LNCL is most definitely better than any song on the project. He could have kept LNCL in the tuck and put it on the album.
@@kevinowens3774 exactly! It fits in with the title too imo. I just don't get how you can make such a big song like LNCL and it just be a throwaway track
Bruh I was anticipating more songs like that. I like that Drake. If Drake can make like 6-7 songs like that on an album that is playing to his strengths. He’s great at hits man all the other stuff ehhhh
Myke was absolutely correct on this one Drake is definitely missing something my sister said it sounds like Drake got these songs off the floor and saved all his energy for the diss songs🤣🤣 no substance and at 35 years old I'm sorry I agree with Luke James also this is man child rapping I will continue with NWTS and Take Care for me
myke saying drake gave us a variety of sounds is hilarious, he gave us two sounds basically: 1. take care lite and 2. memphis drake and that was IT. one afrodrake track. that’s not variety to me lmaooo
How does CLB not sound samey? It sounds like everything else he’s done in the past but worse. There’s better songs on his other projects that are similar to this. This is just a repeat Drake album that stays in the middle and doesn’t add anything sadly
Watch this review and then go back and watch the DONDA review and it will prove that everybody that were in disagreement of how they reviewed DONDA were all right. They did not treat that DONDA review with same sense of depth and analysis they do on their other reviews. Still love these guys but it was pretty obvious lol
Feefo done lost his mind. This is easily my least favorite Drake project. Even Views (which I found to be painfully boring and mediocre) is a more enjoyable listen than CLB.
So if you found views “boring & mediocre” why would you go on & listen to his next 4 projects? ya’ll say every albums boring but listen to the next one.. like if this is your least favourite project but bet you listen to his next release.
@@Mattjonesll Because I'm not one of those people who hates everything Drake does. I typically enjoy listening to Drake. Out of his entire discography, the only projects I didn't like were Views, half of Scorpion, and now CLB. Everything else I think has been dope.
@@randellwoodard5159 but everyone’s saying he hasn’t changed his music up it’s the same old drake so how can he win? If it’s the same as a typical album. Like if you don’t like views or CLB then you don’t like drake because it’s literally a typical drake album.
I am comfortable saying that this is not a bad album. In fact, this album is remarkably consistent with prior albums that many have considered good. I just realize that I no longer am interested in listening to a Drake album from track to track because it now seems that once you've heard one Drake album, you've heard them all.
It's been working for 10 years though. That's how a lot of artists keep their core fan base by not changing the formula too much, look at Curren$y he don't experiment too much and has a formula it's been working for him for over 10 yrs. And ppl love Kanye bc he's always been an extremely experimental artist I mean dude started off producing.
@@latanda96 That core fanbase argument doesn't cut it to me. Sure you'll loose some fans, but you will also gain some new fans. Currensy is a niche artist and i don't believe anyone views Currensy as one of the goat mcs. I think when it's all said a done an artist is judged by the body of their work (Classic albums). Drake albums have a playlist vibe to it. He has not put together a complete body of work imo.
This is easily one of Drake’s worst albums. All these songs he’s done before in a better way. This doesn’t come close to Take Care, NWTS and IYRTITL. Even 40 said Drake albums have to be long to cater to everyone which is the problem. This album should’ve been a self aware meta Drake album with some pop/r&B elements. He should’ve ramped up the “lover boy” aspects even more, especially based on the marketing. Instead it’s a standard drake album but somehow more uninspired
i know it just came out…but freddie’s freestyle over the champagne poetry beat was INCREDIBLE i kinda want him to pick the best beats from this album and rap over them
@@bobjimbobjim9006 nah. That freestyle sounded weird. His voice too gruffy or something. They trying to make the shit go viral like the "beatbox" beat.
When I found out the album title like months ago, I figured we’d hear songs similar to Marvin’s Room, Come thru or 305 to my city. This album just felt like a bunch of b-side cuts from a collab album he was working on… There’s no cohesion at all with any of these songs from CLB.
Drake makes good music so I'll never feel one of his projects are trash... but this one just didnt do it for me. I usually play his albums on repeat for a few months but I'm already off it after a week for whatever reason... Idk what it is.. after the shock value of the diary raps (intro, 7AM & the remorse, no friends) just sounds like watered down versions of songs he has already done. JUST MY OPINION
he half assed that idea. side a wasn’t strictly rapping and side b wasn’t strictly rnb. that shit coulda been executed a lot better and in way less time too
@@lyleugleman9799 Scorpion is seriously a top 3 Drake album for me. If you cut that album down to 12-14 tracks, it's easily one of Drake's best albums + I liked the fact that he rapped a lot on side A. Straight up rapping! I would cut it down to this: 1. Survival 2. Nonstop 3. Emotionless 4. God's Plan 5. 8 Out Of 10 6. Mob Ties 7. Sandra's Rose 8. Talk Up 9. Jaded 10. Nice For What 11. In My Feelings 12. Don't Matter To Me 13. After Dark
I listened to this album once and thought it was good, but nothing new. It's not a new experience for me and it's hard as someone who isn't a hardcore or casual fan of Drake to be served the same meal every single time. There are great songs on here but it's just hard to get into for me.
Can't believe Fair Trade was only mentioned once in this whole review. That song and you only live twice are probably the only two tracks I will return to on this album
@@alejandroserrano7755 It was still one of the best tracks on the album though. i know this isnt saying much for a song on CLB, but still, both travis and drake delivered good performances.
I heard this album once and not in full because it was that bad, Drake going to always play it safe and give you his fast food music because he knows his audience and knows no matter what he’s gonna do numbers
