Well in all honesty, he started as a baby dragon just reborn after Michail died in the battle of the Citadel protecting Zero. So yeah, he is maybe less than 5 years old :D
Funny thing, there is fanfiction about that it's actually pretty hilarious with the 3 of them always bickering. The author also did a Kh crossover fanfic with Nier Automata And Drakengard 3. Where Sora after the events of kh3 wakes up in Nier automata world and has wild wacky adventures with A2 (status is finished) And Riku while looking for sora stumbles into the World of Midgard and has wild wacky adventures with Zero and mikhail. (Status: Still ongoing but nearing it's end)
All of this was so unexpected considering the fact the other 2 games are very dark and serious. This game is just a comedy from start to finish and a very funny one at that :D
Yes the ending to this game was pretty sad and very unexpected as well but God damn that stupid last boss ruined it though with the HORRENDOUS camera. I thought the first game's last boss was bad but this was just awful. I didn't mind the second game. Granted it did start off very slowly but once it got going I actually enjoyed it.
I think the reason Drakengard 3 had such a comedic edge to it was because Drakengard 1 and 2, despite being rather dark (granted most of 2's darkness is background detail largely retained from the first game), are so relentlessly grim and idiosyncratic that it's hard to take them completely seriously. It becomes a black comedy. Even when shit becomes seriously freaky (we are now all manually thinking of babies), it's so out there that you can't help but giggle, however awkwardly. Yoko Tarou recognized this after creating Nier and altering his approach. As has been said in interviews, Drakengard was made as a meditation on killing in video games. You can play a game and have it congratulate with "you've killed 100 enemy soldiers!" and such. When Tarou thought about that rationally, it seemed insane to him, so Caim and his buddies are a gaggle of mass-murdering lunatics. By the time of Nier's development, he realized you don't have to be insane to kill someone, you just have to think you're right. Nier has all sorts of weirdness and humor, but it's also where things stop merely being bleak and start becoming legitimately tragic. Drakengard was hopelessly dark, but Nier offers you the light of hope just to snuff it out in your face. So I think Drakengard 3 was made with how hilariously dark the first game was in hindsight. Automata was made to reflect how legitimately depressing Nier was.
