This video shows some of the realistic drawing techniques and concepts I demonstrate in my realistic fur drawing tutorial.
There are so many different types and textures of fur and just as many drawing techniques you can use to help you get that fur texture to look realistic. I wanted to make sure I included EVERYTHING I know to help you be able to realistically draw this complicated subject using graphite, charcoal and carbon pencils. Because if this, it took me much longer to complete this tutorial than I thought.
If you don't have any of my tutorials yet please consider getting the "Realistic Drawing with Light, Texture, and Contrast, first. All my other tutorials are based on the lessons you will learn in that one.

I recently bought two of JD Hillberry's tutorials. He is the 3rd online artist I've purchased from in the past 3 years or so. To anyone who is considering who to go with, consider this..... JD Hillberry's tutorials are like comparing a community college to Harvard University. They are SO detailed and SO well-explained. They are packed with practical tips. What I like most is that there's no wasted time. Every minute is meaningful. Unfortunately, I blew a lot of money on other sites before I found his, but I will be buying them from JDHillberry.com in the future. There's no way I could attend a live session due to the distance, but the videos are more than adequate.

Since long time you anounced the fur-tutorial and it seems that it will be worth much more than I ever could imagine :-) hope, it will not last very long to publish and in this corona-restricted times wher live-workshops may be held difficult it could be a good business thing to bring out more online tutorials. your overseas fans would appreciate that very much :-)

HiJD I am interested in your fur tutorial but I am a realistic coloured pencil artist and I'm wanting to use coloured pencil not charcoal or graphite. Am I still able to do the tutorial with coloured pencil? I'm aware that both those mediums are easier to erase and have qualities and techniques I may not be able to achieve with coloured pencil. I just don't want to spend the money then not get anything from the tutorial bc of the medium I use. Thanks in advance and stay safe. Loren Melbourne Australia
