How to Draw Realistic Fur with Pencil - Tutorial 

Learning how to draw realistic fur with charcoal and graphite pencils can be difficult. This video demonstrates some of the drawing techniques and concepts I use to create amazingly realistic looking animal fur.
These concepts I share here are extremely important if you're interested in creating a realistic looking fur texture. One of the main problems people have with drawing fur is they don't understand that, regardless of the fur color, the fur is made of light lines. Not dark ones. The darker values in fur texture is made from the shadows of the fur. So each individual hair we see needs to appear lighter than the surrounding background. That means, we need to use techniques that create thin white lines rather than our pencils that create thin dark ones.
