I have seen these guys play many times. The audience also does a slam pit as soon as they start. I was standing right in front of the stage, age i got shoved right in the chest! But i ended up on the stage with these guys, and got to sing the Immigrant song with them! Awesome guys, and was a lot of fun to party with them back in the day.
I saw them in Calgary Canada in around 1991/92 at The Rebublik. What a great show...Tortelvis did a hand drum solo during Moby Dick...wow! Kind of crazy how I wound up going to the show. I had just bought their first album that summer, and used to play it for friends when they came over (after we drank a couple dozen beers). One day we were walking down 17th ave, and I saw a van with California plates parked in front of The Republik. I asked the long haired guy carrying a guitar case what band he was with...he said "Dread Zeppelin, and we're playing here tonight". Right then and there we went inside and bought our tickets.
Fantastic. Saw them in the '90's at Summerfest in Milwaukee, and everyone was both laughing and yet amazed at their musicianship. Their medley that combines "Heartbreak Hotel" and "Heartbreaker" was the best.
