I wanted Rob to win, very disappointed he didn’t. But Dricus is a gentleman and he completely levelled up last night. By far the best performance of his career
In a way, Dricus pays enormous homage to Robert: he's always said he considers it an honor to fight against Rob... and if he's to win against him, then it'd be more like the real championship. Izzy is skilled, too; but like JJ, Izzy has an outlier's physicality over all others. Robert, Dricus and others don't... so when they win, it's due purely to skills and heart, not because they had 5 to 8 inch reach or height advantage, like Izzy and JJ usually do over their opponents.
@@kiabtoomlauj6249 being tall being an advantage is a complete myth. Izzy is very athletic, tall and knows how to control distance. Very strong too so he’s hard to takedown, that’s what makes him good. Jon isn’t actually athletic he’s just immensely skilled
@@robbiejohnston2023how is Jon Jones not athletic? you know what that means right? Jon Jones is 10x stronger than Izzy, he powerlifts 600lbs + and bench presses 300lbs +, is one of the best if not the best wrestler in the ufc and in all of mma, you don’t just get the skill out of nowhere it takes lots of training and dedication
@@The_Shining_wizard calling dricus a cracker does make him racist and i thought he was a chinese by heart right?? chinese dude saying the n word what a coward racist fuck
@@The_Shining_wizard Because he told Dricus to take a 23andme DNA test to show where he is from - suggesting he is not African because of his skin colour. Dricus was born in Africa and lives there. Also has called him a cracker (racial slur) numerous times. There are probably other examples.
Izzy is so obtuse, its very childish and unprofessional, he truly embarrassed himself. I'm a Black South African and I can fully confirm that DDP is considered an African here, he lives in Pretoria, promotes an African gym and is trying to uplift African MMA, the others just come here for 2 weeks to parade the belts to poor kids and immediately leave (showing us that success is found outside Africa) while DDP chooses to build up African MMA. Izzy is fighting a losing battle, South Africa is very different compared to America and Australia etc, when it comes to South African sports, the whole nation supports its athletes regardless of their race, just look at our national rugby team and the full support they have, so if the fight were to happen in South Africa DDP would have the majority of the support, Izzy would be booed out for his gross behaviour. (Also South Africa is very diverse, and most white South Africans are Afrikaans and have lived in the country for centuries, regardless of our country's dificult past, when it comes to sports you best believe South Africans are united) This was never about race, DDP only said that he is African (true, he is Afrikaans) and that he plans to be a true African Champion and actually bring the belt to Africa, not just to parade it around for a while, but as a statement that African MMA has a place in the Global MMA community and that you don't need to leave Africa to participate in the sport, you don't need to be in a western country to get to the UFC, African MMA gyms are just as viable and resourceful. Aslo...wasn't Izzy Kiwi then Chinese? DDP has class and is mature, his representing our country well, Hy verdien die wen, ons is trots met hom!!
@@saultee7335vettori took izzy down multiple times. DDP is bigger and stronger. Izzy had a close fight and arguably lost last time he fought rob. DDP just made it look easy. The way i see it only way izzy wins this fight is if he gets an early lucky gynoko. Otherwise DDP is gonna manhandle izzy
@@saultee7335 I think he submits him. However, he needs to have Israel watched and tested frequently, otherwise Gynobender might show up with that saggy PED boob.
@@GigaChadDuPlessis I'm starting to think 185 is just a really bad division. DDP is walking through the division like it's nothing. He's now the #2 guy in spite of everyone thinking he's not good. Israel fought a 39 (?) year old Jan and got totally washed. Jan beat him on the feet and on the ground. I wouldn't be surprised to see DDP submit him, and it's what I'm hoping happens. DDP is exposing this whole division. 🤣
A lot of people don't know that Dricus got his nose fixed, and I'm telling you that Working Nose Dricus is on another level. He's finally firing on all cylinders and you saw what he can do. And once he starts breathing more of that African air he'll be unstoppable. The first true African champ is coming.
Yeah Izzy and kamaru spent their whole lives in America but Francis ngannou spent his life slaving away in Africa in the sand mines and literally escaped through sheer heart and will Francis ngannou was by far the first actual African champ dricus may be next but you cannot discredit ngannous upbringing in Africa.
Ever since dricus ufc debut I knew this guy was talented but to beat rob like that is super impressive u can see he clearly is getting better every fight still young and dedicated all the tools to be a champ. vs Izzy will be a very interesting matchup
@@Blade_98jeez, imagine then what will happen when his eyes are open! No wonder Izzy is so rattled he called 23andme 36andme, then 26andme. Seriously though, it will be a tough fight for DDP. Loads of respect for Izzy as a fighter, but that's about it.
I still remember his ufc debut post fight interview where he told Joe rogan (or maybe it was DC) how to say his name properly because he’ll be around for a while. How right he has been. Such a Brandon Moreno moment
@@TopTechTrendsXcalling someone a cracker is implying they’re an abusive slave owner. Calling someone an abusive slave owner because of the color of their skin, is extremely racist. It’s no different than calling Izzy a slave because he’s black.
All people who live here in S Africa are Africans ... Respect to you Dricus for being humble and not responding to idiot Izzy ... this was your day and I’m so glad you won your fight ... big fan at 72😊
Imagine asking him to take a 23andme to prove his nationality 🤣 DDP is literally teaching this clown not only how to he proud of where you are from but how to deal with racists.
Do you know what is ironic about the black boys getting annoyed with his comments is that Africa's biggest problem is its talent drain. Every successful, rich, well educated person leaves Africa. They don't pay their taxes in Africa, they don't spend their money in Africa, the don't hire in Africa. They are the exact problem with Africa and the mentality of the white Africans is to build in Africa so Africa can benefit from their success not Western countries.
Such awesome comments here about the professional way Drikus carried himself and represented true lovers of this rather vicious sport. South Africa ( all shades and colours) is proud of you Drikus!
classy as he acted, not classy at all for a white south african man trying to tell a black nigerian man that he isnt really african because he chooses to live/train in another country. if he really feels that way, id like to see him keep that same energy and tell francis ngannou that he isn't really african cuz he lives and trains in vegas.
@@jp92382you have a point, but izzy still took it over the top. he overreacted badly and didn't conduct himself well. I guess in this sport it's easy to lose to your head too. maybe best to take it with a pinch of salt.
@@colin240359 Izzy is a clown. i felt that way about Izzy as soon as he started doing boy band dance routines on this walkouts, and that was years ago. what im pointing out is what nobody seems to be talking about here - that DuPlessiss saying some really out of pocket s*** about Izzy not being a "real african" because he chooses to live/train in another country Izzy started fighting professionally in 2012. back then, there was no MMA in africa. there were no gyms, there were no avenues for young fighters to come up. Guys like izzy and ngannou literally created the african mma scene by leaving their homes and families, taking tremendous risk, moving to other countries and pursuing their dreams guys like izzy and ngannou are responsible for creating the mma scene in africa. duplessis casting shade on the trailblazers who's shoulders he is standing on
Dricus “brought race” into it months ago when he said Izzy isn’t an African champ. He went off the rails talking shit about Izzy’s heritage, and ethnicity. Have your opinion but have the facts to support it.
Put some respect on this man’s name. He knocked out one of the best in the UFC. Probably one of the best the UFC has had. Robert Whittaker isn’t a walk in the park and this man, Dricus Du Plessis, TKO’d the number one contender. I wish Dricus all the best and hope he gets the belt.
i think his strength is gonna be a factor on the ground in their fight. izzy has never fought a powerful wrestler. there are some better wrestlers than dricus in the middleweight division but he is the most powerful out of them i believe.
Dricus is very classy and sophictsed, I am glad he bring class and intelligence in mma, people think fighters are dumb but he proves its a legitimate sport and you can be a intellectual with class..
🇿🇦🔥I am a black South African from the village. And I knew this guy was South African just by him saying boerwors🔥🇿🇦. We believe in you brother. Remember that the n word doesn't affect us South Africans at all
I really thought Rob was going to bulldoze right thru this guy like nothing. He looked a weight class bigger than Rob and I didn't know he had power like that. His style is very awkward but he somehow just keeps getting it done. Don't think he beats Izzy, but I think it'll be a good fight and he could surprise me again.
I'm what you would call a casual fan. Been wondering since DDP joined the UFC, what if you have a defensive style that appears like every punch you take hurts like hell. A bit like a rope-a-dope, but constant. There's been a few times where I thought oh shit, but he just keeps going. He looks awkward, so set on defence that he didn’t notice the knockdown.
@@DarkCloudNCLook at the excuses already coming, for ur information Dricus has never been a 205er and was actually previously a welterweight who transitioned to middleweight just like Whittaker did.
very cheaply by Adesanya to attack du Plessis on a racist level. if the reverse had happened, there would be a lot of howling in the mainstream media. hypocritical society. Actually, both fighters are relatively the same to me. but after this unworthy action, I'm definitely on du Plessis' side if this fight happens.
izzy is a clown, but duplessis out of line trying to tell a black nigerian man he isnt "really african" because he chooses to live/train in another country. on taht same level, he should tell francis ngannou he isn't really african either since he moved to vegas
Not sure if anyone heard DDP say after the fight in the ring into the camera "Hulle weet nie wat ons weet nie". Translated it means: "They don't know what we know". 😁
He's giving me Chris Weidman vibes, prior to Weidman's fight with Anderson. Not as good as Weidman, maybe, but the same refusal to show any fear toward a long-reigning champion
She has a lovely smile. Love seeing strong women get so far in such a sport. Media isn't easy. Congrats to Mr. Du Plessis for beating a game opponent. Good luck in future endeavors.
