The search continues in new areas. Had a pretty epic day. Caught a lot of fish. Couldn't put them all in this video, its already a 40 minute video lol. Hope y'all enjoy.
Caught some smaller catfish in 2023 out of a small lake on treble hooks and their mouth was sealed shut. I finally figured out I had to push the hook back inwards to get the hook out. I was fishing with some C.J.s Dam bait with a #6 treble hook. Surprisingly I caught a couple 4 or 5 pounders. The second one bent two of the hooks out. I had it netted on the dock talking to the guy who grabbed my net and scooped him up for me and I thought it was still hooked laying on the dock and it went to flopping and I grabbed the line thinking it was still hooked and went into the water! I saved the hook to prove my fish story. I measured the first one at 22” but never weighed it. The man who had helped me net it said the second one looked a little bigger. He asked what I was using at that point. CJ is local here in Okc but he has his baits in Academy Sports and Outdoors and I think he sells it on line on Amazon as well. He has a few different catfish baits. I think he uses cotton for fiber to help keep it on the hook.
I wish more people would use a weigh sling for bigger fish. Glad to see that. We have a homemade one on my boat. Hanging large fish by the jaw with grippers is very hard on them!
Love to try some of my reaper Riggs I think I have something special love your show please let me know just trying to be something in the catfish world thank you so much
Have you ever caught a big fish in your drift socks? It would probably have to have a big head on it or get the side fins stuck, but I was just wondering
Another excellent video. I want to emphasize rogermosberger6856’s comment for the use of weigh slings and give you kudos for using one. I know you do a lot of DIY, did you make yours or purchase it?
