Really enjoy the time you put in ur videos they are great to watch & give a chance to learn alot I come to work 45 minutes early everyday to eat & watch ur videos keep them coming & be safe God Bless 🙌
Thanks for teaching. My wife and I are just starting to learn how to catch catfish, we actually are more interested in catching drinks because we love to eat them, but we won't complain about the big ones. Going to make us a burping stick to help the ones we put back too. Since we are new to catfishing, most of the places we go are hit or miss and I appreciate seeing what to do to find fish.
Glad to see your channel growing. I've been fishing a long time but definitely picked up some things from watching you. I noticed that your leaders are a lot longer than mine so I lengthened mine and it helped a lot with bigger fish. Did like seeing you venture on up into the lake.
Great video. You talked about your rig you used to catch skipjack, im curious on what you you're looking for when locating them. Congrats on channel. Thanks
Good to see you out today. I went out this morning, used frozen skip jack and caught a 35# blue and a 3 # channel ( dinner tonight) lake Benbrook , Texas 🎉,,, are u in the TN ares? By the end of way, I learned about u from Spencer’s show you and he did. Keep it up
Thank you. Sounds like you had a pretty good day. Yeah I live in Tennessee. Spencer and I had a pretty good trip. I'll be on his channel a little more next year. I really appreciate you coming over and checking out my channel.
I’ve seen people deep sea fishing and when they release one that is obviously bloated with air, I saw a group take an exact knife and go under a scale and make a small puncture to help the fish release the air and throw it back. I forget the channel, but they were fishing 2 hours off shore with rod and real off the bottom. I think it was some Florida fisherman; 3 or 4 young guys who woke up early and decided to get together and go out for a venture of fishing.
@@mickaburkhart14 first I ever seen something like that but I guess they had guidance from a marine biologist! I wouldn’t attempt it. He knew exactly where to go under a scale to do it, and it wasn’t a huge fish, but some of the fish coming up so quickly would obviously be bloated with air. There was one guy in the group that was doing it, but like you were saying, if they don’t help get the air out, the fish will end up dying! I don’t guess I’ve ever given thought about it having fished since I was a young boy with my mom. We usually ate what we caught.
I can tell you, that at this time ,all fish are going to winter areas. They go to deeper water for more oxygen. I have always gone to deeper water with cover . Caught some of the biggest catfish in those areas. You will catch ,all sizes and difficult types. In the past ,I have caught all three types of catfish, off a large hole that dropped off on deeper water.
I have. I apologize that I really can't remember which one it was. I'll look and see if I can find I for you. If not I'll cover it in an upcoming video.
@@mickaburkhart14 thanks man! You’re awesome. Just came across your videos recently so I guess I’m one of those 500 new subscribers. Look forward to watching and learning more.
@@ethanchandler7097 yes you probably are lol. Thank you for joining me on this endeavor. I really appreciate your support. Got alot of things coming in this next year.
My grandson and his friend went to Wheeler dam, Lawrence county al, I wish I could send you a picture of what Logan caught. It was a gaint. Logan caught it at night. I been telling Paxton what you and Spencer do.
I appreciate you explaining the burping stick. I've seen alot of your videos and seen you use it quite a bit. I was wondering if it was a "special" bought tool or something.
Fantastic video! Really appreciate you taking the time to explain things and encourage comments. I’m looking forward to getting out this weekend and will search out some mud points! My PB is only 20 pounds and am very anxious to get one over 40. Also, I’m curious if some of those fish you showed on your screen were stripers/hybrids. Do you catch any stripers or hybrids? I’ve not seen any in your videos. It looks like they should be in the area.
Thank you. Yeah hopefully you break that PB. I would imagine alot of those are strippers but I haven't caught any. Not saying I haven't had any hit my baits. But either way if those are strippers then that's always a good spot to find blues.
Thank you. Yeah most of the time unless the current is to fast then I anchor up. On occasion I'll suspend drift. Dragging is a really good way to cover water and find active fish.
Micka i’ve been watching your videos for a few months now and have really been enjoying them. Just ordered a bulk pack of triple threat hooks to give them a try. I see you set the hook with those. Wondering if that’s necessary or just a habit you have that’s hard to break?
That's awesome thank you. As far as the hooks go it is definitely not necessary lol. Like you said it's a habit I've tried to break. But I've not had any issues either way.
Mainly to cover water and find them active fish. You can anchor up on fish like that for hours and they may or may not bite. But dragging you can move to the active fish.
Watching you burp that fish I had a question pop in my head. If tournament fishing, would it be good to burp them before going in livewell or is that not needed since there’s not hardly any pressure on them in a livewell? Never ran into this but wondering if it would help with fishes wellbeing. Thanks!
Yeah if they are full of air it's definitely a good idea to burp them. They my turn upside down in the livewell. But the other hand if they can relax in the livewell they tend to pretty much burp themselves.
I always catch more fish on skipjack this time of year. I keep using shad on occasion because friends of mine swear by it. Maybe there using different shad 😆
The monster rod holder hydroweb or the Madkatz hawg pen are two really great nets. I've got both and either one will do the trick. Sturdy and built for big fish.
