That’s a GREAT day in my opinion. Had yourself a workout. Was hoping to get to Cat Con, but I need to get my boat back in order so I can get on the water.
I really enjoy your channel and I watch a lot of catfish videos. You showing your spot location and details is something most guys don’t do on their channel…at least not in the detail that you are. I’m curious about your setup…what reels and rods you use, do you use mono or braid and why. I know that we all have our on preference and reason for it but I’m always wanting to learn more. Great flathead catch! Those are some beautiful and powerful fish. My PB is a 78 Flat head out of the MS river hooked him in 18” of water on a rock pile. That was a great day on the water!
Thank you. Yeah I can go over setup a little more in my next video for you. And you got me by 2 pounds on the flathead. My PB is 76 pounds. But I definitely appreciate your support.
Out here trying to get it in tonight brother. It's tuff up here on the Illinois river. Can't wait until catcon my daughter might have a surprise for you to decorate the rigging room with. She did one for me and now it's my youtube channel profile picture.
Good idea to "bump" back to structure, was worth a shot. Current is ripping on Watts bar right now, 2.5 mph in the lake. Did my best to fish structure, current made it near impossible, drug all of the lines directly behind the boat. Nice Flatty!
@@SkipJackCindy from the WB dam to 2 -3 miles up river, was where I fished late last week. Fished outside bends (where strcture piles up). 60K going through the dam, including floodgates. Going again today, and will use 8-10 oz bottom weights if needed this time.
Awesome video I’m a newer subscriber love the videos keep them coming please may I ask what test lbs are you using and is it mono or braid and may I ask what state you mainly fish out of thanks again for the videos
Thank you. Welcome to the channel. Yeah I use berkley big game mono 40# main line and 80# leader. I typically stick to Tennessee and Kentucky waters but will be doing some traveling this year.
Micka, have you ever tried trolling crankbaits for flatheads and blues in lakes? It's a blast catching them on walleye rods. They smack the shit out of lure, bouncing off the bottom.
Good stuff brother. If you are running minn kota, be sure your remote isnt in "advanced " mode. It should be in " legacy". Definitely going to hunt you down at CatCon! 🤘🏻
Have you tried going into your settings and turning the aggressiveness down on your trolling motor? If not that will probably help a lot. It won’t hold quite as tight of a lock but it won’t constantly shift back and forth.
Enjoyed another very good video, were u spot locked while fanning out your baits? I will see you at the Kat Kom this weekend and I will introduce myself, thanks again Tony B from Ft Worth TX
@@mickaburkhart14 looking forward to it. Your humble presentation of the fine art of catfishing has helped to solidify my commitment to the MadKatz brand of rods. Wish you the best in your new endeavors. Thanks🎣🏴☠️
There is a setting you can change on your trolling motor to correct that. Unfortunately, I forgot how to do it after I did mine but there is a video on RU-vid that will walk you through it.
@@mickaburkhart14 turned out to be a nice trip. Sometimes that heavy current can help keep your lines like ducks in a row right up against that drop of the bank. When I don’t have heavy weight, I’ll throw them out there, shortest the longest towards the middle and they end up pressed right back against the edge of the channel along that seam.
